I thought the book is sweet and heart-warming, But it had some dark parts. There is some mental illness, abuse and violence discussed. I enjoyed reading the book and I will probably check out other books that are written by Melissa Klein. This book worked for me because the book is different then other contemporary romance books that I have read and horses where important in the book. I own a horse myself and I like reading about the bond between a horse and it's owner.

When a Tornado passes through Magnolia Valley in Georgia Julia's and Luke's paths are forced to together again. They had a secret romance when they were younger, but this ended when Luke left abruptly. The book is all about second chances, about prejudice an looking past this. It is easy to judge someone by their appearance, but it is difficult for people to look past this judgement to experience what the person is really like. The two main characters have experience prejudice and in some ways have used this to keep people away. It is beautiful to read how Julia and Luke see past appearances of each other en truly see the the other person for what they are.

I did not like some of the 'cliche' parts in the book that most of the romance books have and I did not always feel de chemistry between the characters. At first Luke did not want anything to do with Julia and just a few sentences later he would do anything for her. It was a bit strange to me. I would have liked to have read a bit more about their background and more relationship development.

A sweet second chance romance with heart. I loved Luke. Broody, protective, and trying to do the right thing he will tug your heartstrings. Julia is just coming into her own and it's fun to see her grow. The chemistry is intense. There's just enough angst. I will definitely read this author again!

Thank you to NetGalley for obtaining a copy of this book.
The story is a second chance at love. Julia is the owner of a resort in Georgia. A tornado comes and it’s damaged quite a bit. A man name Luke Cavalier comes to the hotel to help the injuries. He is in town to deal with his farm property nearby. But, Julia recognizes his eyes. The eyes do it every time!
While he denies knowing her, she and him were in love 10 years ago and he left without goodbye.
The attraction is overwhelming and even her son from a previous marriage who is deaf and can’t speak is enamored with Luke. But, there are secrets and revealing them may be too much to start again.

However, Julia wants to buy a winery to add to her resort and the man who is helping finance the place wants Julia to himself.

The story keeps you going it is an easy follow and I enjoyed it and recommend a second chase at love.

I read this book intrigued by the synopsis - not so much by the idea of a second-chance romance, as by the possibility of seeing the two protagonists meet and rediscover each other after the events had messed up their cards.
Although the narrative flowed quite smoothly, Someone She Once Knew completely lacked depth, both in the protagonists' characterization compartment and in their love story development.
What unites Julia and Luke? What brought these two people close in the past and what brings them close now? They swore to have never forgotten their first love, yet - remarkably - not a single episode of their past together was told.
Moreover, Julia's doormat attitude (especially in dealing with her mother) really bothered me - not to mention the (not so) implicit message that a woman to be realized in life should be married.
All in all, an interesting premise with poor execution.

A sweet southern second chance romance. Interesting family dynamics. A tornado and other issues placed bumps in their road to happily ever after. A charming read. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley.

Someone She once Knew by Melissa Klein is a beautiful story about finding love again. I absolutely love the storyline, it felt different than the standard guy who comes back and falls in love again story. This story felt like it took me on a journey. The flow of the book was perfect, as were the characters. The chemistry was sexy and hot but no over the top. I will be looking for more books by this author.

What a beautiful book about a second chance at love.
Julia and Luke were meant to be together. I enjoy a soft gentle romance book and this one definitely filled that for me.
The story flowed so smoothly and the characters were written perfectly.
This is the first' book I have read by this author but I know it will not be the last.

Luke has returned back to town to buy his parent's home back he intended on been in and out before anyone recognised him but a tornado wrecked that idea. Julia was heartbroken when Luke walked away ten years ago but she doesn't have time for him her livelihood has just been destroyed. Luke can't walkaway this time he needs to stay and help Julia but will she walk away when she finds out why he left ten years ago.
This is a great story that really draws you in there are plenty of secrets been kept in this genteel southern town but this time will they be strong enough to fight for the HEA they want
