In this story, Michael a former Navy Seal is hired by an ex who is wanting his security agency to protect her and her son. Nicole Zito has witnessed a murder and now they are after her. After showing their texts and a photo of her son he takes the job. Though he finds himself still attracted to Nichole and really liking her son he still must get over his idea of not giving anyone second chances. A very good story with lots of action and lots of back and forth between the two main characters.

This the first of Leslie North's books that I have read but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Protecting the Single Mother was a fast and easy read in the first of the Aegis Security series of books and I am looking forward to reading the next in the series when it is released.

This books details the life of Nicole, her son and two friends who need protecting after witnessing a gangland hit. Nicole turns to an old flame to protect them and the relationship that was seemingly over in the past is considered once again.

I'll be sure to be reading more of Leslie North's other series from this point on!

That little 10 year old absolutely stole my heart. He lost his mom and is being raised by his aunt Nicole. Nicole saw something she shouldn't have and now needs help hiding out from the New York Mafia. I love those protector novels. This was a bit typical but still really good. I was absolutely not expecting this to be a second chance romance. I definately recommend this book for all those Mafia/Second Chance romance lovers out there.

I"m a huge fan of alpha romance reads and this one hit all the spots I love! The cover isn't one I usually go for but the story is everything. The back story was done so well along with just enough angst and not having to wait too long for the MC's to get together. I can't wait to see how the rest of the series goes and who is after these ladies!

Great start to a new series. Loved the premise of a group of friends suddenly needing protection. Aegis is also a group of brothers by choice and they are willing to support Michael and he agrees to help his ex and her friends stay safe.

Wonderful second chance romance. Once Nicole convinces Michael that second chances might be worth it! Nice action and suspense. The story isn't over, though. The bad guy is still out there and their lives are still in peril. Looking forward to seeing Holly and Charlotte wrangle the broody protectors watching over them.

As my first Leslie North book, I want to say that the impression given was amazing!

Protecting the Single Mother by Leslie North is book one in the Aegis Security series. The first book in the series is about the owner of a notorious hairdressing store Nicole and Michael an Ex-Military who is now one of the three owners of a Security firm company.

After a shocking event where the three friends witness a homicide, harassment starts to occurs because they placed themselves as a witness with the police about the events. When danger starts to loom too close home, Nicole knows there's only one thing left to do. That's then when Nicole asks for help from her ex-boyfriend Michael. She knows he's the only one she can trust herself and her 10-year-old son.

Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Michael, the strong silent type, is asked to protect his ex girlfriend when she is threatened after seeing murder. He has his heart closed up and is determined there will be no second chances for anyone in his life, ever.
Enter Nicole his ex who trusts Michael as the only one that can protect her and her son Grant. Grant is pretty perceptive and realizes the more his mom and Michael are around each other the more they can’t hide their feelings from him.
Then the threat is right at their back door and Grant is taken. Can Michael and Nicole put aside all their rules and work together to find Grant and maybe in the process fight for their own love story?
4.5 stars

I read this book in a day! So much fun to read.

A single mother, her son and some friends, are witness to a murder.
They need protection so who gets called in, but an old love who is a retired Navy Seal.
Even though it is a shorter book than usual for me, I really enjoyed the story about second chances.
The dialogue was quick and witty and the protectiveness of Michael shines through.
A great book for a rainy spring day!

At first, I would like to thank Netgalley and Relay Publishing for allowing me to review this book. Keep in mind that my review, however, is my true opinion on this book.

“Protecting the Single Mother” by Leslie North is the first book in the Aegis Security series. This is a true love story.

Nicole and some of her friends witnessed a murderer, and then they started getting threats. They hire security, and it ends up being Nicole’s ex boyfriend, Michael. The two of them agree that nothing is supposed to happen between them. But this might be harder than they first expected.

I love the suspense combined with the love story. It is an incredible combination and I love these kinds of books. And what more is, that Leslie North is an incredible author as well. She certainly knows how to create suspense and make some mystery around the characters in the book. She furthermore makes the love story absolutely stunning and beautiful. Again, it is a great combination and well written.

The characters in the book are great! They are relatable and they are charming. I love how they evolve throughout the story and I love to hear their stories. Even with the drama and the mystery, they are lovely. Nicole and Micheal are just lovely characters.

I am very excited to see where the story goes in the next book.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Relay Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the first book in a series. I read a lot of Leslie North books, and this had a different vibe. It has a bit more suspense. It's a second chance romance. Nicole and Michael Rinaldi an ex seal now security. I liked it. 3.5 stars I think most romance readers would enjoy.

Another fantastic read from Leslie North. This story is full of drama, suspense and of course romance. The rekindling of the 10 year old feelings between Michael and Nicole is expected but the kidnapping of her son Grant was not, and although the story ends on a bit of a cliffhanger it’s nice that Nicole has her HEA. Looking forward to finding out how Charlotte and Holly get on in their stories.

Really enjoyed this second chance romance. Nicole is a single mother to a 10 year who is her sisters child that past away when he was 6 months. Michael is a Ex-Navy seal who runs a security company with 2 of his former Seal buddies. Nicole and Michael grew up together and Michael thought they were going to be together forever until she broke up with him while he was serving over seas. Nicole and her two friends witness a murder and start receiving death threats. She goes to Michael's security company and begs him to help her and her son. Both characters are guilty of controlling their emotions and not letting the other one in and in Nicole instance not admitting she needs support. I enjoyed how they did not jump automatically back into a relationship and instance worked thru some of their issues. Highly recommend.

I received this book as an ARC from Netgalley and gave my honest opinion.

Let me start by saying I don’t normally go for romance books - as in, if the primary genre is romance, I tend to stay away. But... I admit, coming from a military family and having military friends, I am a sucker for military/ex-military books, so I gave this one a shot. I’m so glad I did.

Allow me to say, I finished this book in about six hours or so, taking a couple of breaks. It’s a short, easy read, but it doesn’t lack for substance. There was a perfect balance between to romance and the suspense. Both elements were necessary to keep the story moving, and Leslie North did an amazing job with this.

I loved the characters as well. I felt a connection to Nicole and Grant. I cared what happened to them. I loved that Michael wasn’t afraid to admit to himself that he still loves Nicole. And I hope we get more info and maybe even a story about Jed... because while he’s not in the story very long, I think he needs his own story.

If you like books involving military/ex-military and romance, with some suspense thrown in for good measure, I highly recommend you give this book a try.

Protecting the Single Mother: Aegis Security Book One by Leslie North
Publisher: Relay Publishing
Genre: General Fiction (Adult) | Romance
Publication Date: April 22, 2021

Protecting the Single Mother is the first book in the Aegis Security trilogy by Leslie North. This can easily be read as a standalone or the story continues with the next two books detailing the stories of the other characters.

I really enjoyed this book! I found the story to be enjoyable. It is filled with suspense, second chance romance, adventure, and of course steamy chemistry!

This was a fast read and filled with action. I didn't want to put it down. The characters are great (thank you for the hot Navy Seal!) and I really enjoyed the storyline.

I can't wait for the next two books to be released (& thankfully I don't have to wait long)! Protecting His Fake Wife will be published on April 29, 2021, and Protecting His Pregnant Partner will be published on May 6, 2021. Looks like I have a couple of book dates coming up!

I'm so grateful to Leslie North, Relay Publishing, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.

Fiercely independent (to a fault) Nicole curbs her desire for control long enough to recognise she needs help when she and her friends witness a mob hit. Michael is her go to guy in this never imaging before scenario and despite her bravado she struggled to keep her distance when locked up in a cabin for her (and her sons) protection.

Add in a background that brings both parties a modicum of peace, a sensible and wise before his years boy and a funny puppy dog and you have yourself a rather well out together story that will keep you reading.

Excited to see what transpired between Charlotte and Easton, the teaser chapter was a good cliffhanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
