I under this is the fourth book in a series and although I haven’t read the previous books I found this worked well as a stand-alone.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story it was full of intrigue and suspense without being predictable

I enjoyed The Third Grave by Lisa Jackson. I believe it is part of a series but it worked well as a stand alone story. It was an interesting story that kept me hooked throughout and left me satisfied.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for my ARC.

I think this is part of a series, but I enjoyed it without reading the previous book(s).
A married couple, reporter and a policeman are separately Investigating the 20 years mystery of 3 missing girls.
The story was interesting and I enjoyed it, will be looking out for any other books in the series.
Thank you NetGalley.

This is an enjoyable book from the queen of suspense fiction but I just thought something was missing. It had all the elements of a great crime story, a cold case, several new murders and a plethora of suspects. There just didn't seem to be any tension, nothing had me holding my breath while turning the pages. Even more than one clever twist at the end didn't really excite me. Sorry.

Being a big fan of American crime authors such as Lisa Gardner and Karin Slaughter, but having read all of their books, I was hopeful that The Third Grave would be my route to discovering another great series to devour. Unfortunately I couldn't get along with the leaden prose style, and found it hard to countenance that the reader's sympathies are meant to lie with the newspaper reporter Nikki, whose abhorrently selfish actions within the opening chapters wreak havoc on those around her.

Loved this book. I hadn't heard of this author before I read it. Absolutely brilliant plot with a few twists and turns that I didn't see coming.

I am a huge Lisa Jackson fan. This book did not disappoint. I believe it may be a part of a series so I am going to my local bookstore to catch up on the previous books. Enjoyed this one so much!

I was offered this without asking in exchange for an honest review. I was chuffed to be considered in this way and looked forward to reading the book.
The skeletons of two girls who disappeared years ago are found in the ruins of an old house owned by a wealthy family. Pierce Reed is the lead detective. His wife Nikki Gillette is a reporter for a local newspaper.
I liked the character of Pierce Reed. I absolutely did not like the character of Nikki Gillette
The plot is liberally littered with damn/goddamn/hell/hearts thudding in chests or other locations of the body.
The frequency is distracting
Nikki Gillette, has in the past, almost got herself killed on several occasions and came very close to losing her husband his job.
I strongly suspect we are expected to think of Nikki as a super strong career woman and isn't this fantastic that she is so focused. In fact Nikki Gillette is highly self centred, self obsessed, lacking in empathy for fellow human beings and totally devoid of any moral compass. As a result of her thoughtless, inurbane, loutish behaviour she directly causes the death of a police officer and her unborn child. Aww shucks- no matter- the story and beating fellow journalist Metzger to the "prize" is all that matters. Stuff everyone else including her husband who gets shot, again as a result of her crass, bungling interventions. Her concern only for herself is absolutely staggering and I haven't come across anything as bad as this before.. She even berates herself for any feeling of remorse for the loss of life and point blank refuses to shed any tears. Nope! Strong woman that I am I will brush it all off. So what? Life goes on.. Well some people with a shred of empathy might just be able to commiserate with people who have lost loved ones and actually empathise
The ending was preposterous and completely unbelievable
Well, I doubt I will get any more books from this publisher but I genuinely could not countenance a character as deeply unpleasant as Nikki Gillette. Her colleague in the early part of the book was spot on.. Lots seem to love the books and this review won't matter a jot. I wouldn't have finished the book had it not been for the fact that I promised to review it and if I have said I would I do

Enjoyed this book and thought the characters were well drawn. I think this is part of a series so may go back to the beginning to look at how it began. Good story and did keep me engaged.

A hurricane destroys what is left of the once grand Bonaventure mansion and it’s ruins reveal three graves in the former cellar, but only two skeletons. Crime writer Nikki Gallette sees the perfect subject for her next book in the bizarre discovery, even though her own investigation into the cae interferes with the police investigation, and her own husband, Detective Pierce Reed . Folks are sure the remains belong to three sister who disappeared twenty years earlier, and DNA proves that two of the girls are indeed the long missing Duval sisters, Poppy and Holly. But Rose’s remains are nowhere to be found. The girls’ older brother Owen, was the prime suspect twenty years ago and he’s still at the top of the list, but is it possible that one of his victima managed to escape? And if so, where is she? Southern Gothic mixed with a police procedural make this Jackson’s best book to date
