Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of SECRETS OF MAGPIE COVE by Kennedy Kerr in exchange for an honest review. Lila Bridges left London for pastry school in Cornwall after she realized just how unhappy she was in her job and romantic relationship. The lovely townsfolk and coastal beauty of Magpie Cove have given Lila an opportunity to begin to process her unexpected grief over the miscarriage of an unknown pregnancy. Serafina of Serafina’s Café not only gave Lila a job and a place to live, but she also provided room to heal. When Serafina passes away unexpectedly, her heir, Nathan Da Costa, has a radically different management style. Lila and the entire town learn over and over just how wonderful Serafina was as Nathan’s finance-focused business practices begin to negatively impact the entire town. Lila finds herself attracted to Nathan during his unguarded moments, but his greedy practices repeatedly drive a wedge between them. Will Lila and Nathan be able reconcile their differences and learn to trust one another, or will Lila have to leave the Serafina’s Café, Nathan, and Magpie Cove?

I enjoyed this book. I recommend it to fans of fiction featuring personal growth and coping with grief, isolation, poverty, failure, and change.

Since Lila Bridge’s life was not what she wanted it to be in London, she decides to start over with her life and her career. She moves to Magpie Cove to work in a café where she ends up meeting Nathan Da Costa who recently inherited the café. Kennedy Kerr’s Secrets of Magpie Cove is a book about second chances, finding ones place in a community, and dealing with the secrets of the past. This book is an uplifting story about the difference people can make if they just take a chance.

After losing all she holds dear, pastry chef, Lila returns home to the magic of Cornwall. There she finds a job, and her footing, at Serafina’s Cafe; in time Lila even begins to believe she might be happy again. Then Serafina dies and ownership of the cafe passes to her son, Nathan, who seems to think the cafe is outdated and needs a big city makeover. Lila is doubtful about the changes and isn’t sue she even likes Nathan, but she needs the job, so perseveres. Against all odds the disparate duo are drawn together, but a secret from Lila’s past could destroy everything. Spend a day on the Cornish coast with Lily and I guarantee you’ll walk away with a smile

Lila was happy with her new life in magpie Cottage, but when her boss at the cafe passes away, she is left working for Nathan, who inherits mothers property and business but it nothing like her. They clash constantly, so will she be staying?

I would have liked to have seen something from Nathan's point of view.
