A sweet story about the importance of finding the joy in each day. I enjoyed the full cast of characters in this quick read.

Well written book about basically listening to your heart being brave and allowing yourself to be happy. Characters were delightful and the setting perfect. Worth reading and adding this author to my list to follow. Thanks to netgalley and publisher for the advanced copy.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

Paige, whose thirty thinks her life is a mess as a year ago she was doing so well, had a lovely husband, a really good career and a cute kid.

Now, in under a year everything that was good in her life has taken a turn for the bad. With a broken heart, now a single mother she comes home to Kindness Cottage, in an attempt to get her life back together.

But, even though all around her there’s a different environment with rolling hills and lavender-scented air, she’s finding it hard to settle. Being too wrapped in her problems she can’t embrace what’s surrounding her.

Johnny, a chef, gives her the distraction from her worries with his twinkling eyes and dimpled smile.

He wants her to step away from her comfort zone and see what’s really important to her, what really matters. So with her food tasting, helping with the puppy training and climbing mountains, Paige finds she’s remembering how to live again, but will she be able to love again?

Recommend It.

You are desperate. Your life is turned upside down and you have shut everybody out. You can deal with everything by yourself, until you can't anymore. That when it's time to let yourself be surrounded by your family, but only for a few days. Afterwards you will be able to go home stronger and ready to tackle your every day life again.

Is this what you really want? Yes, of course it is, or isn't it?

There are a lot of decisions you have to make. Will you be able to open your heart again not only to friendship, but also to love? Do you believe the villagers when they tell you you belong here or are you certain the big city is what you call home. But where is home? Isn't is where your heart is or does your brain tells you otherwise?

It's great to be back in Scotland and reconnect with all the lovely characters in the village. It's a magical place where love blossoms, second chances are given and the community sticks together.

Friendship, love and some TLC are the perfect medicine to cure everything, if you let them in.

A lovely story where a dog seems to be a great doctor too. :) 5 stars

Thank you, Donna Ashcroft and Bookouture

A really heartwarming and uplifting read. I really thought the characters were set out perfectly and the story charted their development in a way that kept me wanting to read more. It was clear there were a few periphery characters that were from previous books but I hadn't read them before and that didn't matter as this book has everything you need to quickly catch up with the feel of the village and the residents in it. Paige is newly returned back to the area in Scotland where she grew up as she seeks refuge at her parent's house while life in London seems to be going wrong in all directions. Her, and her little girl, are very likeable characters and I adored the inclusion of a library in the story, and how the right book for everyone is there. Slowly, and somewhat inevitably, the truth about what has been going on for Paige spills out and she's faced with some really tough choices, as she's understandably very wary of letting anyone in to trust and rely on again.
I truly loved reading this book and will be seeking out the others set in the same Scottish village by Donna Ashcroft.

What a charming book! Donna Ashcroft’s Summer at Kindness Cottage is a lovely read! Paige Dougall’s life is in turmoil, and she’s moving back to her parents’ home, Kindness Cottage, to try to start over. Paige meets Johnny Becker and oh how her life is about to change. This feel-good book will make you believe in the power of second chances and starting over. I look forward to reading more books by Donna Ashcroft.

Ah Paige. There’s a little of all of us in her. She has had to make a huge life change and has retreated to her childhood home, Kindness Cottage, to lick her wounds. But life is full of surprises!
This is a lovely, warm hearted, cosy and gentle read and will absorb you from the first page. It’s hot chocolate on a snowy winters night, is cool white wine on a warm summer evening, it’s heartwarming, feel good and hygge
