Still struggling to define their feelings for each other, Rockwell and Decker are thrust into a twisty-turny case when a family is murdered, except for their young son... who takes a strong liking to Olivia. It's a solid addition to this series - and you can read it without spoiling the ones that come before. Ellery Kane has strong characters in Rockwell and Decker... and one of the most outstanding literary cast of supporting characters around. Enjoy!

It is the 4th of July and the fireworks have been enjoyed by the inhabitants of Fog Harbor. As the night quiets a vacation beach house suddenly erupts into flames. A family is dead with only one survivor, four year old Thomas. Detective Will Decker and Psychologist Olivia Rockwell dig into the families’ secrets to find the killer and also why Thomas seems to be so afraid of the police.
Author, Ellery Kane ratchets up the mystery in this excellent book with several twists and back stories of Will and Olivia’s relationship.
I received an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley and Bookouture. The comments and review are my honest opinion. 4.5 stars

This is book three in a series. I'm a bit compulsive about starting a series at number one so I got a treat immersed in Olivia and Decker world for three books on a row. That said, I'm certain this book works as a stand alone.

I particularly liked the prison setting it's a bit different. I did wonder at points that with a child abduction it took so long to get the FBI / state police involved but hey it's fiction. Both Olivia and Decker have interesting back stories that help ground the series. I'll be watching out for the next installment and Ellery Kane has an entry in my "must read" list.

Ahhhhh this book made me happy!!!! Finally Olivia and Deck kissed and are together and I didn't have to wait until the end of the book for it! I hate it when authors bring their leads together in the last chapter . I also appreciated how they are starting off slow and not going 100 miles per hour with their romance. We get to savor it and I like that! Can't wait for the next book!!!!!

A fast paced thriller with a good plot. But what is lacking as compared to the previous books is a proper investigation and good police work. Instead this book is more focused on bringing together the two lead characters. Once again there are a few chapters on Olivia’s father only to be left incomplete. Hopefully the author resolves the issue in the next book before it starts to grate on the readers.

I thought this was a good continuation of the series. It was intense and full of action. It kept me guessing who was behind the murders. I enjoyed the book and look forward to more in this series
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the early copy

4.25⭐

One Child Alive, the third in Ellery A. Kane's Rockwell and Decker series was a great read. That was full of mystery as Detective Will Decker (Deck) and his friend prison psychologist Olivia Rockwell investigate the murder of a family vacationing in Fog Harbor over the 4th of July holiday.

But with a four-year-old as their only witness, and the possibility of a fellow officer being responsible, finding the killer seems an uphill task. Especially when Will alone begins to fear the person responsible is someone with no links to the family, but him instead.

And with twists, shocks, surprises and characters who are really starting to develop. This was an extremely enjoyable read, and I'm looking forward to reading more, as there are still mysteries to be solved, including what really happened to Olivia's father.

Would recommend.

Honestly my favourite book in this series.

A family is murdered, the only living witness is the 4 year old child who got away, and he says the bad man is a cop. How will detective decker solve this one, when he can’t even trust his team?

This book was incredibly fast paced, I found it hard to put down and didn’t want it to end. I was surprised I gave this one a chance after not really liking the last book in this series, but I’m so glad I did. This one focused more on the crime at hand with the back story of Will and Olivia taking a back burner, which I liked. Enough about their back story to keep those lines moving forward, but having the main focus be on the crime at hand.

Love a good crime thriller. One of my favorite things to read. This one did not disappoint. I did not read the first 2 books but it was fine as a stand alone. Loving the characters and story line.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for my review ❤️
I hadn’t realized this book was #3 in a series, but I was able to follow along perfectly fine, so it is suitable as a stand-alone read as well.
This book was a great thriller with police procedures, action, flawed characters, murder and mystery.
A little boy who survived a tragedy is at the center of it all and isn’t speaking.
I really enjoyed this one!

This is the third book in the Rockwell and Decker series and my favorite yet! Although this is part of a series you can definitely read it as a standalone.

This book has everything you need from a police detective thriller: action, unpredictability and some romance on the side. Throw in some humorous banter between Will and his partner, JB, and I'm a happy camper!

Thank you Netgalley, Bookouture and Ellery Kane for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion!

This book was given to me by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is the 3rd installment in the Rockwell and Decker Series
When a mother, father and 2 of their 3 children are murdered, Rockwell and Decker search for the killer by questioning the only witness, the 4 year old son who watched his family die.
Once again all the characters you love are back and in full form. Olivia and Emily fight as Olivia tries to protect Emily from pretty much everything, JB is still "detective of the year" and doesn't hesitate to rub it in Will's face, Will is trying to do things by the book and Graham is well, Graham.
Olivia is still searching for answers in her father's death, Will is still trying to put his past behind him all while they are both trying to ignore the feelings they have for one another. Great story.

This was sooooo good. Flawed characters, even the good guys. So many suspects it’s hard to figure out who is culpable. Tragedies abound, no one is left untouched. A little boy is at the center of everything and he isn’t talking. Murder, mystery, romance, great descriptions and dialog. It all worked for me. Despite being dropped in the middle of a series I never felt lost although I would have enjoyed more of the back story.

I couldn’t put this book down. Thank you Bookoutre and NetGalley for a copy.

I love this series and I must say that I preferred book 2 to book one, I struggled to get into this one straight away.

Decker and Olivia's romantic fourth of July is ruined when an entire family bar the youngest son are shot in the head and the house set on fire Detective Decker has his work cut out of him 4 murders. Olivia as always is trying to help whilst also trying to find out what happened to her dad.

I love our leads especially Olivia and I loved her storyline in the previous book. But she was kind of pushed back in this book. I wanted more about her investigation into her father's suicide. I loved finding out her family stuff previously and I suppose I wanted that to continue. However Emily is more prominent in this book so we get a bit of an insight into their relationship which was nice

Detective Ben Decker on the other hand seems a bit all over the place in this book. We are used to his laser point hunches but he seems as confused as the reader. Even when he has a solid idea trying to get it to fit the narrative is hard. Let's just say he doesn't make many friends during this investigation, especially as the only surviving witness is 4 years old and adamant the killer was a cop.

Now let's talk about 4 year old Tommy, I love him. What a cutie. He keeps referring to the murderer as the bad man which technically is true. He adds something to the book and in a book where the crimes are so heinous it was great to have such an innocent character.

Ben and Olivia are a bit like Ross and Rachel we all know they will end up together the question is when. Their love for each other jumps of the pages and I think at one point I was more invested in them getting together than finding out who the killer was. Let's just say their love is tested.

Would I recommend this book?

Yes but not as a stand alone. I feel you need to know the history of the characters to really connect to the story. I found too many suspects and really no evidence quite stressful to keep up with at times. But the devotion to our leading characters had me hooked. This book goes from zero to one hundred pretty quick so be prepared! It doesn't do that thing so many books do where they just have one crazy chapter and all is over it stretches over a few which got me wanting more. Plus the epilogue already has me excited for book four. 3 🌟

thank you to netgalley , bookature and Ellery A Kane for the advanced digital copy of one child alive, in exchange for my fair and honest opinions.

This series is developing really well now with this third book in the series featuring two well established lead characters, prison psychologist Olivia Rockwell and Detective Will Decker (Deck) in the fictional town of Fog Harbour, California.

In this episode, lawyer Peter Fox and his family on vacation at their Fog Harbour house are killed on July 4th and their house set alight, all except for the youngest child who runs away and hides after he sees a man start shooting his family. When the little boy is found he is too traumatised to tell the police and child psychologist what he witnessed but is terrified when he sees Deck's police badge. Deck has several suspects to investigate, but wonders whether the shooter could be a policeman.

There's plenty happening in this book, with plenty of action, twists in the plot and a nail-biting finish. Olivia and Deck's relationship is finally progressing, albeit slowly, as they finally acknowledge their feelings for each other. Olivia's quest to find out the truth about her father's death in prison does not advance much in this novel but looks likely to feature more in the next episode, which I am now eagerly waiting for.

Great addition to the Rockwell and Decker series! Fast-paced. Can’t wait to see what happens next! Add this series to your tbr list. This series keeps getting better with each installment.

Thank you #netgalley and #bookouture for the eARC.

So good! Olivia and Decker are back with a gruesome case. Words from their only witness leaves the pair unsure of who they can trust.
Things are also heating up at the prison. I love the way Ellery Kane writes a story. You get the action and focus on the current case while she weaves in more details from the case surrounding Olivia's dad and the past. As well as some progress on that slow burn budding romance. I couldn't put this one down. And that ending! I can't wait for book four.

My first book by this author, but it's the third in this series. I have not read the previous two and I deeply regret that. No panic though, I will read them because if they are as good as this one (and I deeply suspect they are :) ) I will be in for two more treats.

The author really has the talent to keep you intrigued and makes you forget about the rest of the world. She writes rather short chapters which I like very much and at the end of each one, she adds a little (or big) cliffhanger. What can you do? You just can't put the book away now, can you? You have to continue and finish one more chapter... Well, that's the intention and suddenly you find yourself immersed again.

The reader is offered a bucket load of suspects and about some of them I thought: Nah, too obvious. Of course it's not the first and it will not be the last time either that I completely miss the boat...

So in a nutshell: a story that I thoroughly enjoyed. I am very anxious to find out what happened before and what is still going to be revealed in the next book (s). 5 stars

Thank you

If you like psychological thrillers that keep you guessing until the end, this is the series for you!

In this book Olivia and Deck are embroiled in an investigation involving the killing of an entire family minus one. There are a lot of suspects with good reason to commit the murders, but only one can be guilty, right? You will go down a twisty turny road in this book that will leave you a bit breathless.

I love the way Ellery Kane is able to weave other storylines in without confusing or distracting you from the main story. The developing relationship between Deck and Olivia is as endearing as is their characters. There is nothing not to like about these two! Actually, there is nothing not to like about all the regular characters in this series! Well, maybe one but he does redeem himself in this book.

This series is a hit for me and I cannot wait for the next one!

The third book in the Rockwell and Decker series and it just keeps improving. I was drawn in from the beginning with this well plotted read. I like the developing characterisation and the interesting mix of characters. It's a really good thriller with plenty pace and action, which I found quite compelling. I would recommend the read. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
