These Hollow Vows is such a beautifully written fantasy. The world-building is outstanding. The story is well written with an enchanting storyline and well-developed characters that engage from start to finish. The world is atmospheric and feels real with vivid descriptions and rich imagery. I cannot get enough. Highly recommended. Be sure to check out These Hollow Vows today.

Another Faery tale with a cliffhanger ending. Brilliantly written in a very sweet manner, that makes you want to keep coming back for love. Love triangle, yearning, loads of romance punches. It’s all there,

I adored this. I haven't read fantasy in ages but I already know this has set me in a fantasy mood for a while to come! I need to read the sequel now.
I loved Brie. She was so strong and such a good sense of right and wrong. I loved her endless hope and her devotion to her family.
Finn has my whole heart, from their very first dance i was in love with him. They have such chemistry and friendship and flirtiness.
Seb can die in a hole, but in the best way possible because hes a pain, an ass, the most unloveably dull character to exist but he's deliberately written that way so you hate him.
The writing style was so up my street. It was effortlessly readable. The world building felt authentic and believable, and mot told to you like a story but just woven in like we already knew everything. The little bits of history were perfectly woven in without feeling dumped on you.
I loved the plot. A Cinderella retelling is always good fun. This had so many similarities to ACOTAR - the love triangle between the good sun court and the evil night court, girl has to face 3 challenges to save the one she loves, the band of unlikely friends who support her and make her happy for the first time in her life and most importantly missguided first love.
Did i predict the entire plot by page 150, yes. But did i still adore it and spend the rest of the time screaming for Brie to not do what I knew she would do, YES!
I'll be reading the sequel tomorrow. She better end up on the unseelie thrown with Finn by her side or I will hunt down the author and put her in the same hole as seb haha!

This is the second book by Lexi Ryan that I have read and I had high expectations. This did not disappoint at all! Oh my goodness this book stole my heart. The characters, the setting are just perfect.

I will acknowledge it took me a long time to eventually review this book and I'd like to apologise for that.

However, I really enjoyed this book. These Hollow Vows follows Brie who is living in poverty within the human realm. She has an affinity with shadows that allows her to steal undetected in an attempt to help her and her sisters financial situation. Brie has to escape to the fae world after a failed theft and eventually finds herself in a love triangle whilst trying to compete with other humans to become the fae prince's bride.

The plot of this book (and it's sequel) was a little predictable, however, I thoroughly sucked it up as a reader and enjoyed the duology immensely. As a fan of fae books I can appreciate any fae fantasy which this definitely is. I did enjoy the uniqueness of the goblins and their magic included in this story and how Brie on multiple occasions ignored both her love interests when she was angry with them, and made them sufffer. This made Brie feel like a more real protagonist which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I am excited to read further books by Lexi Ryan and hopefully an expansion on this world with stories from the side characters would be amazing!

This book is absolutely not revolutionary and is very familiar to so many well loved fantasy romance books, but it’s still a damn fun book.
There’s times where it felt a little slow, or a little convenient but I think overall the pacing is a success and this is a great first instalment and will allow the author to continue and mould a really strong series. I didn’t fully love the romance in this but do think it will improve throughout the series as there’s great potential.
Overall, I would recommend to both new fantasy romance readers as well as the more experienced ones.

I haven't read a book this good in a while. It is very similar to Sarah J Maas in style and storyline. It keeps you guessing and I didn't guess the ending!! Brie is an inspiring heroine and I can't wait to see what she does next!

An enjoyable fae story that reminds of The Cruel Prince trilogy and for all the good reasons: the manipulations, betrayals, and deception. It's an alluring start to a duology that in fact, surprisingly, makes me actually be interested in a love triangle through the multi-faceted characters and an in-depth world where an intriguing deal of a young girl with the king of the unseelie court—to steal three magical relics from the seelie court in exchange for her sister who was sold off to the sadistic king—unravels a plot that interests through the romance, the twists, and the atmospheric prose.

i didn't get along with this book - i wasn't a fan of the writing style and it was also very similar to ACOTAR with a few elements from The Cruel Prince but with less chemistry and much more instalove

Thank you for my earc of this book!
I enjoyed this! Although there were moments of slow pace it was an overall engaging read and good fun, I can see where the comparisons to cruel prince come in but do take it as it’s own book as it stands on its own merit.

I actually really enjoyed this!
I usually avoid books with love triangles, but this has been like the 4th love triangle I read this year and the trope is slowly but surely growing on me 😂 I immediately had a firm favorite between the two love interests though. Finn, I'm looking at you! (I always go for dark and broody of course).

I wasn't totally convinced by the story at first, but this got better as I went along, until I just couldn't put it down! I saw some of the plot twists coming from the start, but some of them definitely took me by surprise, which is always a bonus in my book, since I've read lots of Fae Young Adult books, so not a lot manages to surprise me anymore.

I wish we'd seen more of the human world and of Brie's sister, because basically everything she does is for her, but I didn't really feel the sisterly bond since we didn't get to see a lot of them together. The worldbuilding was great though! There were definitely strong ACOTAR vibes across the board, but I didn't mind one bit because it's still one of my favorite series to date.

It's a good thing I got and ARC for book 2 from Netgalley and I'm dying to see how this continues!

It's very rare that I don't finish a book but I've tried a couple of times to read this book and I just couldn't get into it. I don't know if it was just the wrong time for me to read it or if the story wasn't that exciting/writing style wasn't for me.

Thank you so much for my review copy of These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan. I love reading fantasy, especially fae fantasy. The world building was very exciting, there are many twists and turns that I did not see coming.
I was so intrigued from the first couple of pages so I knew this was going to a good read and I was not wrong!
This book gives me fairytale vibes like cinderella or sleeping beauty, the way the story is told in the narrators point of view. There was a bit of a love triangle which I enjoy reading about. This read was very fast paced too which was so much fun. A very enjoyable read!

These Hollow Vows is A Court of Thorns and Roses, just in a different font. If you like ACOTAR then you're going to love These Hollow Vows.
Though I must say that in my opinion These Hollow Vows characters has less chemistry and they are less charming. I really don't understand why she fell for any of the guys? Like nothing showed us why she fell in love, it was just insta attraction because the guys where sooo hot.
I didn't really find any of the characters interesting or likeable either. And the plot twists weren't that good. I might just be really negative, but this book was literally ACOTAR, and not in a good way, that is also to say that I wasn't a fan of ACOTAR.

The book wasn't bad, I did enjoy it at times! But definitely a mix of the ACOTAR trilogy. 2,5 stars from me for now.

Good world building, the story was ok, characters could be pretty unlikeable - but that's not necessarily a bad thing - it's very similar to a lot of similar novels in the same space so a bit too carbon copy for me!

Okay! Okay!

I really loved this but also kind of hated it. I’m going to be open and say that the two love interests are basically Rowan and Rhysand…like for real they are.

However, this book did a lot of interesting things with the main characters story and I was happy to see a central bond with her sister. I kind of wish that had been developed more though as she’s absent for most of the book since you know she was sold into slavery!

Anyway, in order to get her sister back she’s told she has to seduce the prince. No problem right? Well turns out her childhood friend and crush who she thought was human is actually him. The prince. And he wants to marry her. And also bang. However our main character hates the Fey because they can bind people in slavery to them. Which is shown by tattoos all over their body. The other guy she meets is the dethroned prince and he’s covered in tattoos - they’re under a curse. Anyways, she’s falling for her boy because she already loves him but everything is shady, while the other guy is also shady and did kidnap her one time. She also gets drugged by someone with a date rape drug and that was horrifying. But it’s instead used to force proximity between the second LI and her.
We are basically doing an SJM though as it’s clear that we’re not going for the expected route. Even though I wanted to root for the best friend guy (which was obviously a prince) he was too shady. I don’t really like either of them and I do think it’s a little bit sus that both LIs are shady as shit. I kind of want a third man to appear and be wholesome and end up with them lol.

Anyway here’s my thoughts I wrote when I first finished the book:
More proof that all men are terrible.

Though I guess we can maybe give Sebastian a pass if we are giving Finn a pass since both of them are unseelie so very very mortal. But wow. I am not shocked because we knew nothing could be happy but also wow. I wanted to like you sebestian.

That’s it from me. Did I enjoy it, yes! Is it predictable? Mostly. Will I read book two? Yes.
