In depth biography focussing primarily on Prince Philip, covering his life and upbringing, and the effects of the changing political climate in shaping his life, including the coronavirus pandemic and his relationship with Princess Diana.

The author has reported on the Royal family for newspapers such as The Sun, The Daily Express and The Evening Standard, and has authored and co-authored several books about the Royal family. He uses his experience and contacts to pepper the facts he collates with anecdotes he has witnessed or which have been relayed to him.

Can be prone to repetition which adds to the feel of wading through at times, although the chapter demarcations do help. Includes some interesting information, but the clearly partisan perspective raises questions.

This book will be a firm favourite for all Royal fans.
I absolutely adore the Queen and Prince Philip, it took me a while to read this book as it was an emotional roller coaster after recently reading and watching The Crown, his sad death, watching the Queen sit on her own at the funeral and then this book..
Queen Elizabeth was blessed with a fantastic husband.

An informative read and I feel like the author has captured Prince Philip here. It felt like an honest portrayal of him; someone who was strong minded and spirited. His role as support to the Queen was highlighted throughout but I did enjoy reading about his infamous faux-pas as well.

Thanks to NetGalley for the review copy.

I have always liked Prince Phillip. What a character he seemed to be as I watched him on TV reports. It was really special to read Prince Philip's Century. What an amazing man he was and I loved reading all about him and his life and how he made a role for himself as the Queen's consort. He did so many amazing things. He was one amazing man and a great loss to our Queen and country.

I found this a superbly written and captivating account of the life of Prince Philip, I was completely absorbed and thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
There is so much detail but it is written in such an engaging style that it was easy to read and is full of information that I did not know about a life incredibly lived.
Im still smiling at the snippet about 'the diminutive Queen' always being the goalie in family football games!
A beautiful read about an amazing man who devoted his life to duty, the Queen and the country, while remaining true to himself. Rest in peace Sir.

A very topical book just now. I found this an interesting read but felt I didn’t learn anything new from it. Having said that, someone who wanted to know more about Prince Phillip would enjoy it.

A compelling portrait of the late Duke of Edinburgh and his remarkable place and many contributions to the British monarchy throughout the 20th century. Robert Jobson, the Godfather of Royal Reporting, has given us the well rounded biography of a long life dedicated to the throne despite having to stand 3 steps behind in its shadows. A captivating portrait of a husband, a father and the unfailing support he has given to his wife and Queen during her long and eventful reign. Richly detailed and often humorous, this delightful and entertaining biography of the Windsor's patriarch should definitely be welcomed by any reader interested in British and European royalties. Highly recommended!

Prince Philip's Century: The Extraordinary Life of the Duke of Edinburgh by Robert Jobson is an excellent biography of a fascinating, complex, and remarkable man that kept me entertained from beginning to end.

I have read quite a bit about the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh while reading several biographies on the royal family, but this was a great addition that seemed to pull a wonderful narrative together from a number of different sources that was smooth, coherent, intriguing, and had an easy flow. There were a few tidbits that I had forgotten about, and I was glad I was able to read a more comprehensive book that focused on Prince Philip as the central point of focus.

A great biography that I thoroughly enjoyed.

5/5 stars
