I'm a huge Lesley Pearse fan and was looking forward to her latest book, I started this book and had high hopes of another really good read but it's not the best book I've read by Lesley. It didn't really feel like her writing, I more or less knew what the end would be but it did keep me reading, it was an interesting and entertaining story and easy to read. Looking forward to the next book.

On the day Nina and Conrad Beat move into their new home in picture-perfect Willow Close, a body id discovered. One of the residents had been attacked and brutally killed. Believing someone must have seen the murderer, the police interview all the residents of the Close. They soon find out that each neighbour harbours their own secrets.

There's quite a lot of characters to try and remember and they all have secrets they don't want their neighbours finding out about. The neighbours are all in the frame after one of the residents had been brutally murdered. Nina and Conrad Best are just moving into the Close on the day the body was found. It's not long before they wonder if they should put the house back up for sale. DI Marshall is leading the investigation but he's getting nowhere fast. I did guess correctly who the murderer was but that doesn't spoil my enjoyment of a good book. This is a well written whodunit.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #PenguinMichaelJosephUK and the author #LesleyPearse for my ARC of #Suspects in exchange for an honest review.

I don't think I've ever been so glad to click the 'I'm finished' button on a book.
I have read some of Lesley Pearse's books before and really enjoyed them, so was looking forward to this.
In all honesty, it reads like a creative writing piece from my school days. Although I was never the best writer, I would certainly never insert any of the phrases into a book like this. The fat shaming was some of the most offensive writing and I am astounded this was allowed anywhere near the printers. Talk about alienating the readers. I have a close family member currently battling an eating disorder, and this was disgraceful and made me incredibly angry.
As for the plot, it had a great premise but the characters were some of the most stereotypical I've ever read, and the police investigation was so unrealistic, it truly amazed me.
I understand Pearse had writer's block during Covid, but as other books were delayed by other authors, I see no reason why this hadn't had much more editing and substance added.
The audiobook narrator did the best with what she was given, which was not a lot.

The suspects is a mystery thriller surrounding the murder of a young, teenage girl on a close-knit street. As the investigation progresses, it begins to surface that not all is as it seems in this jolly community. As the truth begins to unfold in the lives of those you thought you knew, and as two nee residents move in, you are taken on a whirlwind of a ride, full of twists and turns, until finally the truth comes to light!

I enjoyed this story. I liked the flow of the chapters, they melted into each other fantastically and held my attention, having me going through quite a few chapters in each sitting. The character development was good. I liked how each character in the story had a bit of a secret back story or secret that unfolds as you read on. I did end up predicting who the killer was quite early on, however, I did not predict the ending, that took me by surprise. .

**I received an advanced copy of this ebook to listen to and review. Thank you NetGalley, the author and publisher for allowing me this opportunity **

I have read and enjoyed most of Lesley Pearse's books. This book is not in her usual style, but I still enjoyed reading it.
There are a lot of characters to remember and it did get a little confusing trying to remember who everyone was.
One thing I can definitely say is that Willow street is not a nice place to live
Everyone had secrets that they were trying to hide.
If you can get past the fact that this is a different style of book to what Lesley Pearse usually writes then it's a good book.

I have loved all of this authors books so to read this was a bit of a surprise ,it did not really feel like her writing ,too many confusing characters and too much attention on ‘ fat shaming’
The premise is there for a good read but it fell short
Look forward to the authors next book

Would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this gripping novel

When you move into a lovely posh area you don’t expect to be greeted with a murder.. but that is exactly what happens to Nina and con

A young teenager , a popular outgoing girl called Chloe is found murdered and before long strange going on in the street make the police believe the killer lives local

With the bizarre behaviour being shown by the neighbours it’s not long before it all kicks off, in more ways than you can imagine

Wow thoroughly enjoyed reading this book wouldnt like to live in this neighbour though

I honestly can’t believe that I’m only giving 1 star to a book written by Lesley Pearse. I have read and really enjoyed all this authors previous books but unfortunately this one was awful in my opinion. I felt it was written in a very amateurish way and the characters were all horrible. I also felt it was quite a confusing read as there was so many characters and trying to remember who was who. I did finish the book purely to find out who the guilty person was. Fingers crossed her next book is a lot better.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC and this review is my own honest opinion. I will not be posting a review on Amazon or Waterstones due to me not enjoying this book.

I have read and enjoyed nearly all of Lesley Pearse's previous books but this one missed the mark for me. It is a whodunnit that dragged on and on and I only finished it to see who the murderer was.

The writing didn't seem like the author's previous work at all, it was lazy storytelling and I really hope she returns to her earlier type work as they were brilliant!

I didn't hate it but I also didn't love it, it was ok.

A miss for me. Very different to Lesley Pearse’s previous work.

A 13 year old girl is murdered the day that Conrad and Nina move in to their new home. Within minutes of arriving they can’t help but feel it is a mistake.

Unlike Pearse’s other writing this relied on damaging stereotypes and lazy story telling. Fat = bad and other unnecessary things.

There are a lot of characters all with secrets and it is easy to get a bit lost if you are not fully involved in the story.

This was quite predictable. I hope that the next novel by the author is a return to form.

One of my favourite authors!
This book did not disappoint!
The book follows the lives of the residents of Willow Close who are all suspects following the murder of a teenage girl. I enjoyed getting to know the characters in this book. All in all a very well written, entertaining story, with some good characters. Recommended.

Suspects! Wow what a ride! I’m a huge fan of Lesley Pearse and her latest novel did not disappoint,

The story is about Willow Close, a Murder of a teenager and it seems everyone in the Close has secrets to hide . . .

I love the background into all the households, despite the murder and other crimes you really get a feel for and enjoy learning what makes them tick.

Such a lot of characters make this book confusing to begin with but once you figure out who is who it develops into a very good story. It is different to Lesley's previous writing but well worth a read

Suspects is so easy to read, I flew through it!

I would not want to be living on willow close! Nina and Conrad move in pretty much as a young girl is found dead….not the best start to their new life!

The secrets of the close all then come tumbling out of the woodwork. There are so many characters that at first it is a bit confusing.

Who would think one close could hold so many secrets? As the police try to discover which suspect is the killer, they uncover several more crimes!

Nina and Conrad wonder if they should stay on the close…but the remaining residents are very glad they are there.

An easy read, not the usual style for Lesley Pearse in my view, but a well executed, enjoyable read.

I absolutely adore Lesley Pearce books and this one was just as good.

A young 13-year-old girl has been murdered not far from where she lives in Willow close.
A close with many strange neighbours all with secrets.

When the latest people Nina and Conrad Best move in they are excited and believe it to be the perfect location.
We meet the neighbours individually and learn about their lives. Each one is under suspicion.

DI Marshall is leading the investigation and when he interviews them some of their stories don't seem believable.

Such a great book that leaves you wondering who on earth could have done it right until near the end which made it very enjoyable.
Such a good book, which I thoroughly recommend.

Thank you, NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. xx

I'm a big fan of Lesley Pearse and have thoroughly enjoyed so many of her books. I have to say that I did struggle with this one, though. The storyline centres on the murder of a 13 year old girl who lives in Willow Close. The investigation into her death puts every resident of the Close under suspicion. The story describes in detail every household as we learn of their family issues and problems. It seemed that almost every family were in unhappy relationships and the sheer number of people who lived there made it very difficult to remember who was who, who was married to whom and where their stories fitted into the picture. Reading on Kindle it's not easy to keep turning back and checking who and how each character related to the others. Reading an actual book might have helped in this regard. The final reveal wasn't entirely unexpected so no big surprises there for me anyway. Sadly, not my favourite book of Lesley's but it won't deter me from seeking out her future books as I've always enjoyed her earlier work so much. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a pre release copy of this book in exchange for my honest, unbiased opinion.

Secrets Abound in Willow Close…
Secrets abound in Willow Close, the place Nina and Conrad have chosen to live, the place where they have found their dream home. The very day of their move, a murder occurs seemingly sending shockwaves through the community. But, this is a community that has its secrets and who knows what lies behind those closed doors. Engaging suspense with an intriguing storyline but often somewhat less than credible characters.

Whatever you do don’t move to Willow Close,Nina and Conrad did just that and found themselves caught up in a murder investigation an arson case and other numerous cases involving their neighbours.Suspects is a book which takes you to the inside of all the neighbours lives warts and all and you realise all is not good on the inside as everyone has secrets to hide.It is a very good domestic thriller which keeps you guessing just who is up to what and who is the killer ? I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this genre,an excellent 4 star read from Lesley Pearse.
