I loved the Thursday Murder club, but found this hard to get into, I will be giving it another go as I loved the first one so much!

Not my cup of tea at all which is such a shame as my grandad absolutely loves the books - I found the 'group' too fluffy for my liking, I think perhaps I'm just the wrong generation - I much prefer a more gory and heart stopping kind of thriller so this one was probably too cosy!

I deliberately waited to read this until all the hyperbole had died down. it's a very good mystery, but not living up to the standards of Agatha Christie. Perhaps the second will be more to my liking?

I enjoyed this more than The Thursday Murder Club. It still retains that cosiness that made the first book a fun read. The humour still had me beaming from ear to ear at times, and the mystery itself felt much more compelling and intriguing than the 1st book.

Can't wait to continue on!

The second case for the Thursday Murder Club... and its another fun read with relatable, loveable characters and plenty to keep me turning the page.

Probably less my bag than the first osman (less crime, more spy), but he’s doing what he does best: compelling, cosy, highly readable crime. Makes me want to read the next.

I loved the first book, so I couldn't wait to dive back into the Thursday Murder Club world and I'm glad to say it didn't disappoint. The wit and characters were as good as ever and I cannot wait to read the third instalment.

The Man Who Died Twice welcomes us back into the motley crew and they are as witty and fun as ever. Joyce with her new Instagram account @greatjoy69 - yep and she's delighted with herself! The ever mysterious and sassy Elizabeth, who I feel we get to know better in this sequel. Ron and Ibrahim continue to be the 2 friends every group should have, they kind of remind me of Chandler and Joey! And then of course we have Donna and Chris, who seem to take a little more a backseat in this book in comparison to the first but continue to bring a great dynamic to the group. The chemistry, love, and friendship between this unlikely lot is just as strong and genuine as the first book and you can't help but love them even more. They each bring their own unique touch to the story and Osman depicts them in such a way that you can picture them as real people and you feel a part of the club.

The writing and tone of voice is just as good as the first one. There are so many laugh out loud moments and Osman captures the personalities and the voices of each of the characters so well. I really like the dual perspectives that we also had in the first book, where we observe what is happening from a third party perspective but then we also get thrown in and feel a part of it with Joyce's first person diary entries.

The story itself has a number of fun twists and turns and there are several sub plots that add some nice layers, without over complicating things. You get to learn more about each of the characters as these different stories unfold and just when you think you have them figured out, they continue to surprise you. The various twists and turns that come your way are sometimes so random and unexpected (as they should be!) but they add to the overall narrative and strengthen what is in fact a very good murder thriller.

So look, big love for this book and I can't wait to read the next one. The main reason I didn't give it full marks was because I enjoyed the first one a little more but I think that was due to the novelty of the characters.

If you're looking for a clever and fun book, then this is definitely worth a read.

Sadly this book wasn't for me. I really enjoyed the first Thursday Murder Club but I couldn't put my finger quite on what I didn't like in this one. I think for me the characters aren't rounded enough and don't compel me to keep reading about them. I found the plot predictable and just wanted so much more from this book. I will still read Osmans books in the future and it's not put me off reading his as I enjoy his writing style and turn of phrase.

I thought that these books would be more enjoyable and for me since they’d been so popular, but the writing seems very satirical which really ruins any book for me. Real old people aren’t like this and in general people aren’t like this so it’s frustrating to read a book where all the characters feel like cartoon characters when it’s meant to be a murder mystery for actual adults.

You feel like you know the characters so well from the first one, it is great to get to see their lives again. This is the very definition of a cosy mystery to me!

Richard Osman just gets better and better! This book follows four old age pensioners who make up the Thursday Murder Club, a sequel to his first bestseller. The plot line is much better than the debut novel, with so much humour it’s hard to put down!

I picked this one up over a year after finishing the first so it took me a little bit of time to get back into it and remember where I was. Once in I found the story even more entertaining than the first, maybe because I already knew the characters from the previous novel perhaps? It was fast paced for the most part but I did find it lagged a little towards the end. Saying that an enjoyable read and I will be picking up the third.

Osman has found his feet in The Man Who Died Twice. The characters are more rounded, the dialogue is witty, and the storyline moves at a better pace than in his first book. It's not a world-changing book, and there are fewer subtle occurrences of social commentary, but it's an enjoyable read and one you'll get through in no time.

Richard Osman's gang of OAPs don't stop delighting in this sequel to the brilliant, Thursday Murder Club. It is the epitome of cosy crime, and a wonderful, fast paced delight of a read!

Richard Osman does it again! I just love all of the characters, fun and mystery with this series of books.

Great fun, well written as you would expect, the intelligence and gentle humour is there. I love the idea of older people getting up to more than sitting in a chair.
