This book wasn't what I expected. I found the story a bit boring and stopped reading about half way through. Thank you for the chance to read this book, I'm sorry that I didn't finish it.

We made a movie was an brilliant quick read with a powerful message and heartwarming story!

The writing of this book was great. The characters I found super sweet and made me root for them. The themes were impeccable! I hadn't read the first book but I was able to carry on and still found this a great read!

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the E-arc. All opinions are my own.

We Made a Movie is a fabulous, funny, adventurous sequel to We Won an Island. You won’t be disadvantaged if you haven’t read the first book in this series as this book is a stand-alone story.
Full of themes of family, community, sustainability and conservation this book will have you longing for Luna to achieve everything that she wants to in order to make the Island a better place for everyone. Luna is brave, courageous and stands up for what she believes in.
The island is small, with a small community who need to work together but with difference in opinions running high about how to make this beautiful coastal area attractive to tourists to help improve the economy and jobs available for the young people. Can the community work together to make their home a better place for everyone?
I adored this book and I really hope there will be a third book in the series? I think I would like to live on this island. Charlotte makes it sound like the perfect place to relax away from the busy constraints of towns and cities… I love goats but not sure about yoga…
This is a perfect read for KS2 and lower KS3 esepcially readers who enjoy adventure novels.

Just finished this book & I can absolutely say that We Made A Movie was worth the wait. Funny & thoroughly entertaining, I’ve gobbled it up today as I didn’t want to put it down. So good to be back in Wishnook.

Fantastically fun read with a wonderful family and hilarious characters at its heart. Thank you so much to Nosy Crow and Charlotte Lo for writing such a wonderful book. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this adventurous series.

I do enjoy a book with a good sense of place, and We Made a Movie has that in spades. I now want to visit the island for a yoga retreat, even though I don’t enjoy yoga!

I was concerned that I would be disadvantaged as I hadn’t read the prequel, We Won an Island, but it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the book. Lo handles sensitively and subtly filling in the series newcomer with the important facts.

There are green themes aplenty, with discussions around sustainable tourism, conservation (particularly plastic waste in the sea), veganism, and an emphasis on the importance of local community and small businesses. Being set in a coastal community also has topical elements with how to attract visitors and build the economy and job opportunities for young people.

The characters are well-rounded, and although the townsfolk are pitted against each other, it is clearly demonstrated that nothing is ever quite back or white - we live in shades of grey. And even those who are against the stand of our main protagonist, Luna, find ways to redeem themselves in the end.

A very enjoyable read, which gives food for thought. I will happily recommend this to upper junior school age readers.
