A wonderful and interactive look at the ancient world! My children thoroughly enjoyed this book!

We learnt lots and have even been inspired to visit local archaeological sites and to gather our own clues about the ancient world!

Thanks to Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley for the Advance Review Copy in exchange for an honest review.

As a Classics teacher and the mother of small children, I am forever in despair by the fact I can’t seem to inspire their interest in the Ancient World. That said, this book managed to do the trick!

The pictures are detailed and colourful and appealing to children. There is lots to find and see in each double-page spread, and the format reminded me a bit of Where’s Wally with there being a ‘game’ for each civilisation to find different items. This works for either print using a real magnifying glass or digital by zooming into each image. My children had a lot of fun trying to find the items and it was an opportunity for me also to talk about them to expand their knowledge.

The book features real places and civilisations across a good range of ancient civilisations including the Egyptians, Ancient Greeks, Indus Valley etc. I really liked that it wasn’t just western civilisations featured. With my teacher hat on as well, this would also be a really nice addition to any Primary school classroom or library.

Ancient Magnified World is a vibrant and richly detailed visual representation of long-gone ancient worlds. As you journey through the pages of this book you'll explore real places from the ancient world, learn about what life was like for these old civilisations and discover some of the key moments in ancient world history in the most intricate detail. Meet the Egyptians who built towering pyramids which they filled with glorious treasures, travel to the Kingdom of Kush and discover how it grew rich by mining iron and gold and learn how the ancient Greeks set up the first-ever Olympic games.

Each Civilisation is given a double-page spread and the minute detail of the illustrations reminded me a little of Where's Wally?, along with the fact that you are challenged to find ten different items hidden in each scene using the magnifying glass provided; because of this I highly recommend buying a physical copy of the book for the sheer novelty of how it all works, although it works perfectly well by using the zoom function to search for the items on a digital copy. The ten items are those that represent that particular civilisation the most and there's a little information about each before you begin your search.

For children who learn by practical means or have photographic memories, this is an ideal read, however, I feel any youngster with an interest in ancient civilisations would find this both educational and entertaining. At 48 pages in length, it is recommended for children aged five to ten years old; this is pretty accurate. It's wonderfully illustrated with vibrant colours and is undoubtedly a great visual resource. From Mesopotamia and Olmec to the Parthian and the Persian Empires, discover fascinating facts about sixteen ancient civilisations before taking a look at the Gallery of Famous Figures. A fantastic fun and informative book to keep kids entertained for hours.

I love this book! Reading and learning about the ancient world is always fun, and with this book, it feels almost magical! I believe children will adore this book with all its illustrations and activities. And without even realising they'll learn all about the ancient civilisations. Cannot wait to gift this to children!

This is such a lovely way to learn about the Ancient World - an area where there aren’t many children’s books so this is a great addition to the shelves. Each beautifully illustrated double page picture focuses on a different city, country or part of the ancient world. There are a couple of short paragraphs as an introduction but then a great ‘eye spy’ where you look for features of the time, having read a bit more about each of them in the spotters list. I learnt so much in such a fun way - really highly recommended!

3.5☆ A Fun Historical Search and Find Children's Book.

Ancient World Magnified is a search and find educational book that travels through the Ancient World, looking into Historical information.

This was particularly tough for me to review as on one hand this book is 4/5☆ however i read it using a digital format and it was so hard to see the pages to search without constantly zooming in. It just doesn't work.
If I had of been reading it via hardback or paperback then this would of made All the difference.

Each section gives you some historical information about the area you are visiting, and then 10 pictures that you have to search and find in each of the scenes.

The illustrations are beautifully presented and eye catching. Perfect for the search and find type of book.

If you love Where's Wally kinda books then Ancient World Magnified will be right up your street!
This book would make a lovely present for someone who loves learning, history and having fun.

What a fun way for children to learn about history. I love the fun illustrations and how interactive this book is. With the Wheres Wally style of play in the pages to engage the audience and its facts written in a child-friendly way, which summarises that period of time.

I think children will enjoy discovering the new facts about these time periods and interacting with the activity on the pages.

Great book, I certainly enjoyed seeking out the objects in the pages myself.

I received an advanced copied of this e-book to read and review. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for this opportunity.
