Sally Compton Scott felt blessed with her marriage to the magnetic, Tyler Scott. He was her everything. A successful executive at a marketing company, a passionate lover and considerate partner. Knowing finances were tight, she was surprised by Tyler’s gift of a trip to Antarctica for their sixth wedding anniversary. It was a place she had dreamed of since fourth grade.

Watching penguins, whales and seals in their natural white world was a dream come true with Tyler taking photos she would turn into scrapbooks celebrating their life as a couple. A freshly painted house awaited their return. She was looking forward to starting their family.

Children she could love, cuddle and raise to interesting adults. Her life was perfect. Until it wasn’t.

I loved this book! I love thrillers and read them all of the time. I have the second book to read! You need to read this!!

I almost didn’t finish reading this book, it was so hard to get into the characters and it felt as though it was a bit of a time warp. I really disliked this book.

A good read. Different. I did like Sally. I'm looking forward to the next book. 4*.

i'm finally picking up this book. and i'm grateful for the fact i didn't read this book last year. i'd be terrified.

this book shows perspective(s) about being the second wife, and life as a young widow. love to see sally's growth! and anyway i'm kinda terrified with the idea of marriage now. it's still an amazing book though.

what she didn't know
when she loves him blindly,
she will one day see it
when she got herself together.

btw it has short chapters 👀

***got an arc from netgalley in exchange of honest review. thank you netgalley!

Story of second marriage, a bitter ex wife and a new wife who thinks she has a perfect life only to find out she doesn’t.
My issue was I didn’t like many of the characters and struggled to care what happened to any of them.
The book promised a lot but didn’t deliver it all.
Enjoyable enough but did read it pretty quickly to get to the end.
3 stars ⭐️
Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for a fair review.

This was a quick read, done in one go. However, in the end, it failed to really grab me.

It felt like it took me longer to go back and read sections of the book, because at times the writing was somewhat difficult to follow. I'm not one to not finish books, so I kept going.

Some parts of this felt very Stepford Wives, and others very soap opera-esque, and it just wasn't for me, unfortunately.

What she didn't know is centred around a widow her life as she saw it as everyone else saw it and the truth. Sally thinks her husband was perfect. But no one ever is.

I am on the fence with this book I think I spent the entire book waiting for the twist and it never came so when it ended it was a bit of a let down if I'm honest. Though I did enjoy the premise of the book on the surface I just felt it needed more.

All the characters were OK all seemingly one extreme Victoria the ex wife is super evil whereas the new wife Sally is nieve. I wish there was bit more depths. I must say Ryan and Gwen had a lot more depth but we spent hardly any time with them which was a shame

All in all I found the book engaging and managed to speed read my way through. Maybe I have a mind that is constantly trying to find the twists because I just couldn't let my mind rest. What read. 2.5 🌟 rounded up to 3.

Thanks to netgalley the author and the publishers for the digital advanced copy of this book in exchange for my fair and honest opinions.

I felt kind of cheated when I finished this book as I was waiting for something surprising to happen that would make me like and respect at least one or two of the characters. None of them had much depth, and the premise that Sally's tincture of nicotine could have caused Tyler's death was pretty silly. The men were all pretty one dimensional and the women were either a bitch or bland with no spirit. Two stars because I did read it to the end.

Wait... what?? My Kindle told me the story was ended, and I was still waiting for the story to start!
Where was the plot? This is a tough one to rate, because, on one hand, it kept my attention. In fact, I put down two other books I was reading to concentrate on it. I kept waiting for the plot to materialize, but it never did.

So I guess I'll give it 3.5 stars and round it off to 4.

I was intrigued by the synopsis of this book. However, I just didn’t care for it due to the fact that the characters annoyed me, particularly Sally. This whole story was just far fetched. And the writing style just seemed jumbled.

A second marriage to a much younger woman means Tyler Scott is having to manage two families in effect - his new wife and new home and his bitter ex-wife who has custody of his children.
Sally, the second wife, is shown to be a polar opposite to his first wife, who no-one likes. All Sally wants is now to have children with Tyler and complete her dream.
As the reader we get insight into all sides of the marriage and the desperate circumstances Tyler finds himself in. Until he dies on their 6th wedding anniversary trip to Antarctica. The reader gets to mull the question: was it murder; suicide or an accident.
Add to this a young widow finding herself again; discovering her perfect husband/marriage wasn't so perfect after all plus the bitter ex-wife slinging accusations and the life insurance policy investigator and you get an interesting read.
To be honest I didn't really like any of the main characters - but I have an idea the author perhaps meant it this way so that the reader can see the couple for who and what they are with no "rose-tinted glasses" on. It shines a light on marriages where everything seems perfect but the truth is so heavily hidden that one of the partners in the marriage are often not aware of the reality because they are only privy to part of the reality.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me the chance to read this book.

Sally appears to have everything that she wants in life. A wonderful husband, devoted husband and a trip to an exciting destination. But as is the case many times one event changes her life and drama ensues as a result.

I loved the description of this book and was looking forward to reading it but once I got past a couple of chapters my excitement waned a bit. I struggled to stay engaged with this book mainly because of the writing which at times was awkward and just not engaging. While I can't really put my finger on it I would suggest as another reviewer has suggested that a tad more editing could have helped the novel immensely. The scenarios seemed a bit predictable and dull at times and the exchanges between characters stilted.

I liked the initial plot but felt the author got distracted a bit in my opinion.

I hate to write any type of negative review but this book just never pulled me in. The characters were blah and boring and it was written like I was reading maybe a police report or something similar. I finished it because I just knew some huge twist was going to come in the end to make it worthwhile but it finished as bad as it started.

Sally has everything. An enamored husband, fresh new house, upcoming dream vacation, and plans to conceive her first child combine to make Sally's life everything she wanted. Until a fateful event strips everything away in an instant.

I liked the premise of the book, but think it needs another round of editing to be ready for the masses. Some of the sentence structure, overused phrases, and awkward dialog distracted from the relationships between characters. I also wish there was more intrigue; some 'ripped from the headlines'-type inspiration from many similar instances in true crime could have spiced things up.

Note: I received a free ebook copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The perfect weekend read! I was not expecting this book to be so dang good!
Literally I was hooked reading the blurb. This was a very quick read for me! I couldn't put my Kindle down long enough to do anything. The only thing I didn't care much for was the pacing I felt started off slow! But other than a really good quick book!
