This book was so so boring. It started off strongly but then I just didn’t care about what was happening.

Caveat - I'm slightly odd and love reading about air disasters. Don't judge me!!

I absolutely loved this thrilling ride and am convinced it would make a great movie.

Welcome to Coastal Airlines, our flight today is Los Angeles to New York. Your captain, Bill Hoffam and co-pilot Ben Miro. Please relax and enjoy the flight...

I hope you are comfortable to being this thrilling journey...

What does an experience airline captain do when he gets a message advising him that his family have been taken hostage and for them to survive he needs to crash the plane with all 144 passengers on board?

For a start he has to try and work out how to get out of the situation without doing exactly that. The safety of his plane and passengers is paramount, but his family obviously mean the world to him too.

I can't say too much more as this is a novel that you have to discover for your self!!!

Thank You for flying Welsh Librarian Airlines

I've had this book sat on my TBR pile for the best part of a year...WHY??!! I loved the sound of it when I first read the blurb, but starting it yesterday afternoon and finishing it this morning is a big giveaway as to how much I enjoyed it! This story is a high action thriller which I'd really love to see on the big screen. We meet Captain Bill Hoffman, a pilot for Coastal Airlines. He's just took charge of the Los Angeles to New York flight alongside his co-pilot, Ben Miro, when he receives a message to say his family have been taken hostage and for them to survive he needs to crash the plane with all 144 passengers on board.

The book begins straight into the action with a heart-stopping prologue. From there on, it's a adrenaline fuelled ride following Bill trying to work out how to save his family and his passengers. The writing was fast and snappy and I felt like I was way up there with them, riding the jump seat next to Bill or Jo, his lead flight attendant. The story is told from different viewpoints - Bill, Jo, FBI agent Theo, and Bill's wife Carrie - and switches effortlessly between the characters. As I read I could imagine how a film version of this book would pan out, with Bruce Willis dropping in to save the day!

I initially thought the author must have been a pilot as there was so much technical knowledge of the ins and outs of a plane, but have since discovered that she was cabin crew for many years. Her previous occupation certainly shows through as the detail written into the plot was fantastic! The fact that this was also her debut novel is outstanding! I've no doubt security procotols have changed over the years since 9/11 and but it's scary to think that things like this could still happen. Of course, this is fiction, and there are some moments which are a little far-fetched or unbelievable, but...who cares!! The plot was fast paced, intensely thrilling and scarily exciting!! Once I started it, I knew I wouldn't be able to put it down! Would definitely recommend!! A word of warning though, don't read this book before or during a flight!

Really enjoyed this book, a surprisingly brilliant first novel from T. J. Newman. This book had a lot of hype; for months, I was seeing it every time I opened social media. I was sceptical of the hype but intrigued as the plot is really strong. It quickly became clear why there is so much hype around Falling and I was sucked in. The story has its moments that are a little hard to believe but nothing that take away from what is a very well developed and written book. I would never have known that this was a debut novel from T, J. Newman and definitely would not have known that Author is not her day job!
Not only is this a great book which will keep readers gripped from start to end, it also gives wannabe writers the hope that one day their own dreams could come true. All it takes is one idea.
A five star read for me!

A thrilling novel and one of those reads where I'm regularly left thinking that none of this would really happen as it does, yet it carries you through on its momentum and quickly developing action. It's a solid debut from Newman, drawing on her own experience as an air hostess to help place us in the cabin alongside the compelling cast of characters.

Somebody tell me if this is just because I have cheap phone service, but is everyone really having uninterrupted video calls with people on the ground while they fly? That one took some suspending of my disbelief, particularly when the entire plot rests on its shoulders.

Regardless, Newman shows a lot of promise and flies us reliably to our destination with minimal turbulence and some great thrills along the way.

This is your reviewer speaking please fasten your seatbelts and keep your hands on your book at all times and prepare for a turbulent read full of thrills and high-speed moments that will leave you gripped to the edge of your seat.

This book was such a great read that I read it in a day and posted a tweet the morning I started it on my train journey by the end of the day the book was finished and knowing the rights are been bought for a movie I cant wait to watch this on the big screen and working in a cinema I know this will be very popular think of speed but instead of buses and boats, this is all set in the sky with a plane.

I loved the book so much that I now have a signed edition to add to my collection and cant wait to see what other great books T.J.Newman might have up her sleeves and knowing she wrote this while she was 40feet in the sky makes this book even more special.

I highly recommended reading this book before it comes to theatres and ii will be watching this on the very first day I can't wait.

Thanks, for granting me the wish for this, and thanks so much for such a great read I loved it.

Falling is a fast-paced, high-octane thriller! The shocking plot is filled with plenty of twists and addictive writing. Imagine a pilot having to choose between his family and his plane full of passengers. Either he crashes the plane to save his family or lets his family die to save the plane full of passengers. The writing is outstanding and shocking to only be a debut novel. Highly recommended to anyone looking for the next big thriller! Be sure to check out Falling today!

Where do I start? This book grabbed me from the first few sentences, I know then that it was going to be difficult to put down.

The story begins with a family starting their day as normal, unaware of what the day entails for them all.

As Bill begins his job as a pilot for a comercial airline, the threat to his family are disclosed to him

He has a choice .. His family or the souls he's responsible on that flight?

This story is non stop action and at times very painfully descriptive in its writing

I can see why the rights to this book to be made into a movie happened

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for ARC

Fasten your seatbelts, there is severe turbulence ahead! Wow! Just wow!

This is a stunning debut, written with an insider’s authenticity, it’s a pacy and intense read, cinematic in scope. This book is absolutely unputdownable and keeps you in suspense from page one and never lets up. It’s extremely well written and cleverly plotted, with well defined characters you really care about. The book also really questions one’s thinking, there is a very affecting moral element (no spoilers here)

I can’t wait to read more from this author but goodness, has she set the bar high with this one!

Huge thanks to the publisher, Simon and Schuster UK and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

An exciting and gripping debut thriller. Captain Bill Hoffman is flying a plane with 143 passengers aboard from L.A. to New York. But his family are being held hostage by a gunman who will kill them unless he crashes the plane. Full of suspenseful twists and turbulence that will send you into a tailspin.

With thanks to NetGalley & Simon and Schuster UK for the ARC.

Believe the hype, this book is unputdownable.

When you're a pilot flying LA to New York, a lot can happen in the time it takes you to fly the route.

So it is with Captain Bill Hoffman.

Thirty minutes before he takes off, his family is kidnapped and held at gun point.

How does Bill get them freed?
Easy.
Crash the plane and kill all 143 passengers, three stewards yourself and the co-pilot.

OK, maybe not so easy.

This is a thrill a minute joyride that I read in one sitting. I couldn't tear myself away from it.

Tension, terror, heroism and betrayal. Everything you want in a great thriller is here.

This is a debut novel from T. J. Newman and she has arrived with a bang.
This is going to win all sorts of awards this year and is sure to sell millions.

Highly recommended.

Do you enjoy flying? Have you ever thought about what the captain has to do to bring you to your destination safe and sound? Do you aplaude when the wheels touch the tarmac at the end of the flight?

Falling is a story about captain Bill who is put in front of a choice - your family or your plane with you and all the souls on board. It’s a really gripping story from the first line. In every chapter the author throws another surprise, another curve ball at the reader. While reading you can sit with the captain in the cockpit and figure out how to save your family and the passengers behind you. Also you try not to panic with the cabin crew, so you can help the captain and protect the passengers. You are also the mother who has to be a shield between your kids and the kidnapper. And also an FBI agent, who is a link between the plane and the bureau.
The story suck you in and you travel with them to the most difficult places and every time you start to think this could be the beginning to the end, another surprise arrives.
Thrilling read for sure.

Falling is one of those books you shouldn't read if you plan to fly anytime soon. Fast-paced, Full of twists, it messes with your head. A fantastic thriller.

A fast paced thriller with plenty of mile-high bumps (not the good kind either!)

If you're going on a flight any time soon, I do NOT recommend reading this action packed book beforehand! If you're not scared of flying already, this may change your mind...

Although the majority of the characters in this book were endearing 'enough' for my personal preference... it was still an amazing thrill of a ride. It had just the right amount of action vs character background and main plot moments.

A great summer read!

Falling by T.J. Newman

When Captain Bill Hoffman of Coastal Airways agrees to take on another flight, against his wife’s wishes, he takes on the responsibility of over 140 souls. It’s not long into the flight before he realises with stark horror that every single one of them is in jeopardy. He receives a call – his wife and children are being held hostage. Only one thing can save their lives. Bill must crash the plane.

Falling has a fantastic premise and kicks off a summer of plane thrillers (never has travel seemed such a nostalgic pleasure!). The author is a former flight attendant and that inside knowledge really adds to the authenticity in the chapters set aboard the plane. The authentic detail also makes the thriller more frightening.

The chapters alternate between the plane and the drama on the ground as the FBI goes into action and Bill’s wife tries to negotiate with her kidnapper. The scenes on the plane are the most successful and are absolutely engrossing and tense. The characters aboard, especially the experi flight crew, are very well drawn and Bill is great. The horror feels real. The FBI and hostage scenes and characters are less convincing and stall the pace somewhat but overall Falling is a very enjoyable ‘holiday thriller’ with a difference. And what a fantastic cover!

It’s possibly fortunate that you’re more likely this year to read Falling on the ground than in the air…

As a side note, I read the ebook but I can see that the audiobook is narrated by Steven Weber who did such a brilliant job of narrating Harlan Coben’s Win.
