An interesting rom-com concept - and relatable after having gone through the pandemic and numerous lockdown orders over the past couple years. This story is told from a couple of different view points - each chapter is someone else’s perspective - and each storyline gets woven together so comically - with a fair bit of cheese in true rom-com form - in the end. I enjoyed this ARC and how the various character perspectives revealed little bits about themselves / the characters situation over time, continually drawing the reader in to the story. I also really enjoyed the flow of the story - it was a smooth and enjoyable read.
There was an error I noticed on page 266 in the digital copy of the ARC. 3/4 of the way down the page there is the text: <line space> that interrupted the flow of the story for me (hopefully an easy fix before it’s published).
Otherwise, a great read - and an excellent reminder to be grateful for each day we have that feels more normal than the last! I would absolutely recommend this book to rom-com fans!

This book took all the scary parts that I have experienced during Covid as a nurse and turned it into something I can smile about. The book was clever and funny. Unlike any book I had read before. It takes a hard and scary subject matter and made it relatable and fun. I loved the characters and the author writes the several different perspective so well. This is my first book from Beth Reekles but will not be my last!

This book was super cute. I get all the feel good vibes from it. Nice read with minimal spice making it perfect for the 12-14 age group. Reminded me a lot of Love Actually with all of the multiple stories intertwining. 3.25/5 for me.

I haven't read anything by this author before, so I went into this book with no expectations. I thought the premise sounded interesting, and that proved to be correct. Unfortunately, though, I just found the book so-so. While I found the various storylines interesting and intriguing, there was just something about the author's writing style that meant I couldn't truly get into the story. I found some of the characters a little shallow, with little development, and I found it supremely annoying that a book set (I think!) in England and with mostly English characters had so many Americanisms, even in the characters' speech. I don't know if this is due to the editing for an American market, however. But personal preference should be that given the setting and characters, it should be true to how they would think/speak. I just found that very off-putting. Overall, it was an okay read, but I wouldn't bother recommending it to anyone else.

Lockdown on London Lane by Beth Reekles takes place right as one of the first lockdowns due to the current pandemic making its way into building. Tenants find themselves waking up to notes beneath their doors stating that their building is on lockdown for one week with no one in and no one out. This creates unique situations for each flat owner including two individuals who were only supposed to be a one night stand, the couple who has newly started dating and a wedding decorating party to name a few. I knew I was going to enjoy this book when within the first five pages I had laughed out loud! When the book ended, I kept clicking my Kindle turn page button because I wanted to know more about the characters! Lockdown on London Lane releases in February 2022 but is on pre-order now!

A totally cute pandemic love story. I adored how all the characters come together without … actually coming together because lockdown. Warm & heartfelt. It made me want to fall in love.

I loved the concept and premise of this book so much - what happens when you are forced to quarantine with your one-night stand, brand new boyfriend, long-term partner, or bachelorette party? Chaos. Relationships and friendships are put to the test in this lighthearted rom-com, Lockdown on London Lane. The concept was unique, forcing all these characters together with a set timeline and connective reasoning. With the pandemic, many people can relate to the feeling of quarantining with people and how much strain it can cause on any relationship. I love a set timeline story because it automatically ups the stakes of what's going to happen and how are these characters going to come out on the other side.

I couldn't connect with any characters because they all felt surface-level, none of them had true development that the reader gets to see. Granted, how much can someone grow over a week? Not much. The art of showing vs telling was not used as much as I would have liked. We were told how characters grew and what their backstories were, but we didn't get to see any of it happen. The repetition was off-putting, watching each apartment find out they were quarantined felt pointless because it didn't add to any of the drama since each reaction was the same, and watching them all get to break quarantine was just as lackluster. I was disappointed by how many hetero-couples we followed and it felt like the only queer representation was used as an afterthought. As much as I loved the premise, I felt like overall the story just missed the mark. I would still recommend this to anyone who wants a summertime lighthearted rom-com read that doesn't dig too deep. After the year we have just had, this book was oddly comforting. It was able to convey all the feelings and emotions of lockdown and quarantine in a way that's relatable. It's odd to think about how this type of story is relatable to readers and I'm surprised more authors haven't taken it upon themselves to try and write about this experience we have all shared. This is the ultimate opportunity for the forced proximity trope

At first, it was a bit difficult for me to keep up with all the concurrent storylines and couples. But after settling into the book, I was able to identify the different aspects of each storyline that make each pairing unique and I got invested.

Beth Reekles, who's known for her "Kissing Booth" books, has seamlessly stepped into the adult/women's fiction game with this novel. Here, various residents in the London Lane apartment building get a note from building management that they are expected to quarantine for a week amidst the beginning of the pandemic. With nowhere else to go, these various characters end up confronting their current lives and situations. We get a variety of leading players, from longtime couples confronting the future of their relationship, newly dating couples diving into that next stage very quickly, a bridal party who cannot stop fighting while prepping for upcoming nuptials, and a one-night stand that lasts one whole week. Told in multiple perspectives, we see how their different friendships and romances are tested in a series of quick novellas, almost.

While reading, I absolutely couldn't put this book down thanks to its catchy language that's just so much fun and draws me in. Not only that, but this quick read features an array of equally lovable yet authentic characters that I'm invested in each of their journeys. It did read like mini-vignettes or something since each story was quite separate until one cute scene towards the end that really brings everyone together as a community. Plus, that ending (minus one heartsick twist) had me grinning so wide at this adorable and fun read.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The author had me right from the beginning. I loved how it told the story of everyone that was in the building. How almost all the characters intertwined some way or another. There was love, there was heartbreak, people learned about their relationships and what they did and didn't want. They were stuck in uncomfortable situations. I think this book correctly described a lot of things that actually happened during lock down for many people. I would recommend this book to other readers.

This book was a fun, quick read and was totally unputdownable.
Honestly this one took me by surprise.
Still set in the charming backdrop of London, with great side characters, this book just felt like a warm hug.
I could not be more pleased with how much I loved this story.

Book was a bit difficult to read. The jumping around was confusing and it was hard to enjoy the characters. The formatting in ebook form made it hard to follow as well.

This was cute! It was different than other stuff I’ve read but it was fun. It follows a handful of apartments during a week of lockdown in their complex. A one night stand, a new relationship, a two year relationship, a four year relationship, and a bridal planning party all wrapped up into one book that had me giggling! I thought it would be hard to keep everyone straight- it wasn’t. It was an easy, light ready that gave me some perspective on how other people might have been effected by the pandemic.

I didn’t know that I needed to read a light romance set during the pandemic until I read this. Lockdown on London Lane was charming, and funny, and frustrating, and irritating, and just what I needed at the moment.
Each of the 5 characters that we follow in the story experience many of the same struggles many of us have experienced these past 18 months. I found reading these challenges in a fictionalized format to be surprisingly validating and comforting. Although the story of each character is different, it’s easy to relate with each one of them…even the characters that are incredibly aggravating.

At first it was hard reading a book set during the first few months of the pandemic, especially since we're still experiencing the pandemic. But I quickly got wrapped up in the stories of the inhabitants of London Lane and was rooting for them. I think the author did a good job of realistically handling the relationships of the building, and I liked that it switched from person to person. And the ending was very sweet.

It was a normal Saturday evening at the apartment complex on London Lane. The next morning all the residents (and none residents) of the apartments awake to find a note informing them the building is on a 7 day quarantine and no-one is allowed to leave or enter the building. For the next 7 days, we follow the story of 5 apartments on London Lane:

Ethan: a successful Youtuber who lives with his girlfriend but is stuck alone for 7 days as Charlotte is prohibited to enter the building after spending the weekend at her parents'. In Charlotte's absence he begins to evaluate his feelings on the relationship.

Serena & Zach: They have been together for 4 years and thought they knew everything about each other. The quarantine proves them wrong. Can their relationship survive their different views on pineapple on pizza?

Isla & Danny: Their romance is new and exciting. He has never seen her without makeup on and she never once farted in front of him. Surely she can maintain the facade for a week. Right?

Imogen & Nate: They had a great one night stand. She was sure she could slip out unnoticed the next morning but being stuck for 7 days with a total stranger has proven to be real awkward. But maybe being comitted to someone is not that bad at all..

Olivia: She is an introvert who keeps her apartment cosy and squeaky clean. Throwing a wedding planning sleepover is the least she could do for her bestie but nothing prepares Liv for the consequences of being stuck with 2 girls and a bridezilla for a week.

If you love rom-coms like Valentines Day and Love, Actually, you would love this book. It took me some time to get into the book as there are so many characters (mixed up the couples' names a few times) but as I got halfway into it, the story flowed smoothly and i can't put the book down! The characters' different stages of relationship is relatable and real. Some chapters got me grinning like teenagers and some had me seething. Beth Reekles did a marvelous job on this one: a light hearted romcom in the bleak era of a worldwide pandemic.

It is a perfect lockdown read that includes all the fear, anxiety, love & many different sentiments that one has passed through & is so relatable. It's similar to overhearing the gossips of what's occurring in our neighbors' homes. Every account is unusual & has a diverse set of difficulties with its resolution. I am amazed how the writer could conceive those multiple situations & put them over orderly.

The author is incredibly gifted, ingenious & has a definite story-telling ability. I wholly savored reading all stories, but the sassy of the lot has to be the one including the bridezilla & her girlfriends. I hope the writer publishes a sequel or simply a standalone for every account. All those who are rom-com enthusiasts will absolutely adore the book. I would want to acknowledge Netgalley, the Author & the Publisher, for an e-ARC of this novel.

Lockdown on London Lane followed several couples, along with a group of friends who ended up getting locked down in the apartment building for a week together. This was not expected and many were not prepared for it.

Throughout the book you go back and forth between the people who live in different apartments and follow the situations they are in. From 2 people who had a 1 night stand to a couple who has been together for over 4 years. You get a mix of different stages of relationships, along with a friendship between a maid of honor and a bride.

Being stuck with someone in a 1 bedroom apartment for over a week, without being able to have the ability to leave and get some space really tests relationships. I liked how it also helped develop relationships between each set of people. There were many ups and downs and a happy endings.

I really enjoyed this read because it was very relatable in the time we are in. I could connect with each coupe in a different way because of what I have experienced on my own.

Overall I would recommend this book to others.

This was a really nice read.
I liked the fact that despite being a book about the pandemic and the lockdown, which was a very isolating experience, this was a coral story. I liked reading about the difference experiences of all the residents of the building and the first person perspective was perfect to really get into the minds and feels of all the characters.
