NUT is the most gorgeous little Viking I have ever seen! What a super-sweet cake-filled story about finding your Thing! Loveliness from start to finish - with joyous rhyme from Lu Fraser and beautiful art from Mark McKinley.

With a rhyming story and bright and colourful illustrations this is a lovely story to read aloud. The story of two vikings, one who likes to bake opens up the opportunity to discuss how we are all good at different things and that it is important to be ourselves. This book has a lovely message and will make a great addition to a class reading corner.

Vikings and cake-baking might be an unlikely pairing, but they come together beautifully in this warm-hearted, quirky rhyming tale about being yourself, with lovely, colourful illustrations.

Absolutely loved this book! It's an engaging read with fantastic illustrations and tackles stereotypes in a humorous, natural way. Nut is a viking who is very good at icing, but unfortunately he's not good at many of the things vikings should be good at, unlike his sister Leafling. I love that this story challenges typical stereotypes, it's the girl who is strong and daring and the brother who likes being quiet and baking. The story is easy to relate to and written in rhyme - giving it nice flow and making it even more enjoyable to read aloud. Fab!

A resounding 5 stars for this children's book. Fun and lighthearted story with an underlining message of 'be yourself'. Delightful fun illustrations accompany the easy rhyming text. I was lucky in the fact I was looking after my granddaughters (aged 6 and 3) and they both loved it, the elder one actually was able to read most of it plus both wanted it again and again. So, as far as I am concerned a definite hit and will be on my list to buy for Christmas presents this year.

Brilliant tale of Vikings, cake & the importance of being yourself.

Wonderful, full-of-life illustrations & a beautiful relationship between a devoted older sister and a little brother who doesn't feel he fits in.

So much heart and fun🍰

The cover of this book is so eye catching and I think everyone will notice it with its cute cover. This is a viking story with added sweetness. Nut wanted to be just like everyone else, he was sad that he wasn't good at sports until there was one race he was able to win. This book has such cute pictures in and I think it will be a big hit with children. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Filled with warmth and sprinkles - what more could you want?!

A gorgeous, rhyming tale about two siblings with different personalities. A tale about having the courage to follow your dreams, your ambitions, and all that makes you... you!

Loved the viking theme and Mark McKinley's joy-filled artwork.

I loved this heart warming story of the two little vikings Nut and Leaf. The story is about how different the two of them are. Nut is sad because he isn't good at all the things vikings are supposed to be good at and instead enjoys baking. Luckily he is accepted by the others by the end of the story and learns that it is ok to be different and that he has his own special talent which is making cakes!
The rhyme in this story is fantastic and makes it such an engaging story. The illustrations are also fab and very funny!
My children both loved this book and giggled along as I read it. I can see it will definitely become a favourite.
This book would be great to share in Early Years/KS1 to remind children that it is ok to be different and that everyone has special talents/interests of their own which they should try to explore.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bloomsbury Children’s Publishing for this eARC.

A wonderful story with humour and a hidden message to “be yourself!”

Oh my, I think this was a lovely little story. It has lovely rhyming text, that flows well from page to page. The characters Leaf and Nut, who are sister and brother, are complete polar opposites and I like how the book is showing that it’s a okay to be different, and have your own likes and dislikes. That where one person is good at one thing, like Leaf with her sporting abilities, another person can be good at something else, like Nut and his marvellous baking! The illustrations compliment the story. The characters are expressive and fun and are sure to have young children giggling in parts as the text is read to support the artwork on the page. The length of the book is ideal for little ones. It’s not too long, the text on each page is around four lines at most per page. So, it should hold the children’s attention from beginning to end, especially with all the fun action going on in each page.

I think this book will certainly enjoy this story and will be giggling away, especially when Erikson gets an arrow in his bottom! It has lots of humour and the characters are young, like it’s intended audience. I think children as young as 2-3 years could also follow and enjoy this story. I can see it being a popular choice from children to return to during story times.

I received an advanced copy of this e-book to read and review. Thank you NetGalley, the author and publishers for allowing me this opportunity. Fab book!
