Oh man! I’ve read many retellings of Cinderella in my life, but has to rank as the most absurd, funniest and best of them all! I’ve never laughed so much while reading a book!

You already know the basic story. That part doesn’t change. What changes is the approach. Cinderella isn’t the perfect girl we know but super-clumsy. Fairy Godmother isn’t quite as magical because she is hard of hearing. When these two come together, the result is chaotic and hilarious.

I read this book with my children and all three of us were guffawing at the story. What makes the book even funnier is the quality of the illustrations. They are so good and so witty!

This goes in my stack of must-be-reread children’s fiction. Heartily recommended to all independent readers aged 6+.

Thank you, NetGalley and Arcturus Publishing, for the Advanced Review Copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. I relished this read completely. :)

You have to do something clever to get away with ripping off a much-loved fairy tale and turning it into something new. This is just about clever enough, spinning off from the idea of the Fairy Godmother having hearing problems. So swap the glass slipper for a flipper, and the girl's fanciful coach for a giant cockroach, and you get the idea – the story is more or less as you'd expect, but made as joyful as ever from the levity of the approach. I certainly liked it – four stars.

What a fantastic twist on a very well known story!
I think I probably enjoyed it as much as my daughter did - definitely a lot different than the normal books we enjoy.
Had us both laughing out loud, and the illustrations were cute too.
Great book
