I do enjoy a good rom-com and He's Cancelled was brilliant. Archie and Natalie are great characters who made me laugh but also made me want to talk some sense into them! I will definitely be looking forward to reading more books by Sophie Ranald.

With 'He's Cancelled', Sophie Ranald adds to her literary universe centring around the pub The Ginger Cat. This instalment mentions our prior heroes, Alice and Zoe, but this time we are following Natalie, You might remember her boyfriend Archie playing Scrabble and seriously flirting with Alice in 'Just Saying'. So I did not go into this really rating him as he emotionally cheated on Nat already... Great start.

In this book, Archie and Nat have been together less than a year but they are engaged and planning a wedding. Despite Nat having doubts about her future with Archie, she is forced to dive into extravagant wedding planning by Archie's wealthy mother and sister. Who needs a registry office and sausage rolls when you can have a stately home and peacocks? As plans veer out of control, the reader is left wondering whether the couple will make it down the aisle.

I did not enjoy this as much as 'Thank You Next' as I felt less of an emotional connection to the characters. Nat waits far too long before standing up for herself and Archie does not feel like a particularly redeemable character. (SPOILER His behaviour when Nat is assaulted by Archie's childhood friend is disgusting. He never really apologises - this surely would be a relationship deal breaker?? END OF SPOILER).

I always enjoy Ranald's books. They are light, funny and the connections are fun to spot. This is not my favourite entry to The Ginger Cat universe but it is a pleasant read. 3.5 stars.

It's such a fun and quirky story. The characters are fun yet at times very frustrating. Natalie has such a great heart that it's hard to read without getting frustrated for her. Natalie's character is very relatable and down-to-earth. Every single character changes by the end of the story except for Archie. Archie as one of the main characters doesn't seem to evolve at all. That little detail does get on my nerve somehow. One thing I did read incorrectly was the title of the book. Hence, I was confused at the ending, although I thought it made the story more interesting in my head.

Every now and then, I think that I’ve outgrown rom-coms. And then suddenly, one surprises me completely. I hoped this one would too. I read Sophie Ronald’s books before, and I really liked them. Liked. Yeah. I now read different books than I did years ago, and my liking has probably changed as a result. To be honest,  I don’t really care about this story. Maybe it’s the premise: planning a wedding with all the problems you can think of. Maybe it’s the writing: the first chapter started showing, and that put me off. Or maybe it’s the story overall: it fell flat for me and I was longing for the book to end, but it dragged on.

So, don’t take notice of my review. If you like British rom-coms, reading about weddings, or are planning a wedding, this story might be the right fit for you. Other reviewers love this story; just be sure you check out their reviews!

I just liked Sophie’s letter at the end of the book the most.

Getting engaged to her boyfriend Archie should have been the happiest day of Natalie's life, but soon it turns into a nightmare. Archie's parents are seriously wealthy and offer to pay for the whole wedding, but Archie's mother's idea of the perfect wedding is nothing like the small intimate affair, followed by dinner in the local pub that Natalie has dreamed of. Then her sister-in-law to be gets involved, trying to recreate the dream wedding that she had to abandon when her fiance was caught cheating.

Natalie is trying to bond with her in-laws to be, but Archie won't back her up and soon she's agreeing to marriage in a stately home, a puffy dress that doesn't suit her, a pushy wedding planner who has grandiose ideas, and hundreds of guests she doesn't know.

Have you ever finished a book and thought 'huh, wonder why they wrote that?', well this was it for me. I'm sorry to be be so negative but I didn't find this funny or romantic, frankly I was hoping that Natalie would dump Archie and find someone with a backbone. I'm afraid that in order to make her novel 'funny' Sophie Ranald created a bizarre group of caricatures and then had to row back so hard to create a HEA that I practically got whiplash. Maybe I'm too old to empathise with wedding planning issues.

Sophie Ranald always has a way of writing hilariously addictive tales - the type of book you read simply because you know you're going to be smiling all the way through.

He's Cancelled was light hearted, easy to read pure silliness and romance. Now I'm not one of those people who dream of being a bride but I am not opposed to indulging in a whimsical, fun romance from time to time.

The characters were as usual perfectly loveable, distinct women who you can't help but rally behind. I loved and hated the different relationships between Natalie and her new family and friends as they developed and grew in new ways - quite possible more than I loved her relationship with Archie.

Now, as much as I adore Sophie Ranald and have read almost everything she's written there were definitely a few comments thrown around by Natalie that made me uncomfortable, especially involving things like sex workers and strippers. Now I know this is written as the characters opinion during an emotional time but it definitely felt like it shouldn't been left out.

I think this book was not the right one for me. I think someone who is or has been married, engaged or is in the wedding industry will enjoy this way more. So if you fall into that category, make sure to read this one!
The thing I liked the most about the book was the ending. It was quite good and round. I loved how everything fell into place and all the changes that were made. I also loved Nat's Grandpa! He was by far my favourite character. I just wanted to give him a hug!

However, the book was quite disappointing. It looked very promising, and it could have been so much better.

The plot was bland and, I'm sorry to say it, boring. The characters were constantly inconsistent. Especially Nat, Archie and the in-laws. And trust me, I understood Nat, she has the right to make her wedding the way she wants it. But I was just frustrated and annoyed with her. We hear over and over again how she disagree with everything, and yet she never speaks her mind. Ok, I understand it's not the best impression you want to give your in-laws. But she didn't even try! or at least have a real and proper conversation with Archie. And this went for far too long. Maybe if it'd have been better if it'd have been for a shorter period. And to be honest, I didn't think Yvonne was that bad. Yes, she was so annoying and had zero right to make decisions for Nat. But still, you can tell she didn't do that just to hurt Nat. As for Archie, he was pretty much non-existent in the story. I thought this would be more rom-com but it feels more like woman fiction. Because it wasn't much about their love story but how Nat felt and experienced things.

I’m a huge fan of Sophie Ranald’s writing and love her books. This one was another brilliant read. I raced through it and genuinely laughed out loud.

One thing I really liked about this romance was how it kept me guessing on the will they or won’t they? Most romances you just know they’ll end up together. For me, in this book it wasn’t so obvious. Even though most of it was surrounded a wedding, it kept me on my toes.

Archie had a lot of red flags, but they did seem to love each other so it was hard to tell where it would go.
I will say, this book is light on the romance. We seem to have missed that part as it took place before the book.

While all of Archie’s family grated on me, I found myself enjoying this book a lot!

This book had me laughing and smiling all the way through! I really enjoyed how strong the family relationships were as they truly wanted the best.for each.other whether it be Natalie and Emma or Yvonne and Archie. I can also understand how Natalie turned into a people pleaser in the wedding process and as a result, lost her way. However, love prevailed and all relationships in this book became stronger because of it!

Time to reconnect with some characters from previous books. There is Alice and Zoe who played the main characters in book 1 and 2 and Archie who was introduced to us in the previous one. The light shines on him this time, as well as on his family and his girlfriend and her family.

What would you do when your boyfriend proposes? Of course you would jump up and down with joy and you know exactly what kind of wedding you would like to have. Moreover your boyfriend agrees with everything. Perfect, right? The planning can begin.
But what if some people take over and don't even seem to hear what you are saying? Will you put your foot down and reign them in or are you being your kind self (or doormat some might say) and not wanting to hurt anyone's feelings, you just nod and let it be?

Maybe it's time to stand up, make them listen and let them know what you want! Will someone get hurt? Probably, but better safe than sorry.

The author's stories always makes me laugh. This book is also about friendship, finding love even if you never thought you would, realizing that sometimes you have to shout to be heard, fighting for what is good for you and so much more. A book by this author has never ever disappointed me. 5 stars.

When I read this book, I expected it to be Bridesmaids but in book form, and unfortunately this just fell flat for me. I also expected a quick beach read, but it took me much longer to get through the pages than I expected.

The book was cute and it was great to see how Natalie and Daisy’s relationship changed throughout the course and see Natalie with a happier ending than I expected. Despite this, there wasn’t enough humor or dramatic flair to keep my interest.

If what you like in a book is a quirky main character and a tale about how she learned to stand up to her mother in law while trying to balance her personal relationships with the other female characters, this is the book for you. Unfortunately, it just didn’t do it for me.

It was hard to put this book down. It was quite humorous.
Well written, well plotted, engaging characters.

Natalie and Archie decide it is time to marry. Really like this couple, but too bad she has a future MIL who is overbearing and takes over, plus a future SIL that had been jilted so now feels like she must take over the wedding too. Natalie just wanted a small and intimate gathering, not one to rival the royals. Really enjoyed this one and had a hard time to put it down. Did drag a bit in the middle as the build up felt repetitive. Makes sense though, as it shows the frustration she feels, especially when her fiance doesn't see the pushing. Would recommend this one, and makes a great summer read.

First I have to say I love Sophie's book Sorry Not Sorry! Now I've gotta get the rest of her ebooks! Just because!

First off, I have a love-hate relationship with romantic comedies. There are some that I absolutely love, like Sophie Kinsella's books and Don't Tell the Groom by Anna Bell. But when I've read other ones before, they 've let me down. When I read the description for this one, it sounded similar enough to the rom-coms I've enjoyed that I decided I wanted to read it. Thank you again to the publisher for this opportunity!

The plot of He's Cancelled by Sophie Ranald revolves around Natalie, whose idea of a dream wedding is a small ceremony with a group of friends at a pub and drinks afterward. Natalie is not the typical bride who wants all the puffs and jewelry. She's a football player and would rather wear a jumpsuit to the wedding than a dress. Fortunately, her boyfriend/fiance Archie loves her for who she is. But when he suddenly proposes one day, Natalie suddenly has to deal with a domineering mother-in-law-to-be and a future sister-in-law who was jilted on her own wedding day. Natalie starts to feel like her big day is becoming a big nightmare.

I definitely enjoyed the comedy in this book. Here's a quote from Chapter 1 that shows us the author's sense of humor:

"I'm no diva and it's not like I was expecting him to serve me breakfast in bed, featuring smoked salmon and vintage champagne with freshly squeezed orange juice served on a silver tray, rosebud in a vase optional. But he woke me up by bringing me a cup of tea, brewed for so long the spoon was practically standing up in it, and a bowl of soggy cornflakes - which I wouldn't have minded one bit, except he tripped over my shoes and sent a tidal wave of cold cereal all over the duvet, the pillows and me."

Overall, He's Cancelled by Sophie Ranald is a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy that will appeal to fans of Sophie Kinsella and Anna Bell. I did take off one star because the middle of the book was pretty slow. It seemed like there was only one way the conflicts could be resolved, but it took a long time for the plot to get there. In addition, for a romantic comedy, this book was surprisingly light on romance. But, I'm not a huge fan of romance anyway, and I think the comedy more than made up for it. If you're intrigued by the quote above or if you're in the mood for a hilarious rom-com, I highly recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in June!

Everything should be perfect. Archie proposed to Nat and their planning their dream wedding. Except it’s not Nat’s dream wedding. She is getting railroaded from all corners by others who want to make it their own wedding. Classic story, different characters. I never tire of wedding stories. Many brides undergo,super stress for the sake of just one day. It’s the marriage that matters and Nat has to grapple with many issues. If you like British humor, you’ll want to grab this book. I liked Nat and admired her tenacity, when she finally found it.
