I’ve read quite a few of this author’s books now and have to say that this is my new favourite.

The story flicks between Tara and Faye as well as some chapters in the past. Tara and Faye met in primary school and had been the bestest of friends until a few years ago. Tara has moved on and met her soon to be husband of which she is excited to be getting married and making a big move to Australia to start her new married life.

I don’t want to go too much into detail with this story as it’s definitely a case of knowing less is better. The author will have you intrigued from the off as to how the recent discovery of a woman’s body is in anyway connected to Tara. It’s obviously she is hiding some sort of secret but as to what, I would have to wait to find out. I also didn’t know what to make of Faye. My thought of chain kept changing in how I felt about this character. I loved how the author played with my mind so that I never knew quite what or who to trust.

Her White Lie was a superbly woven story that ramped the suspense and mystery up to high. Having been in a bit of a reading slump lately, from picking this book up, I couldn’t put it down. Jackie Walsh is a master story teller and I was taken by surprise with the secrets and deception in this novel. It had me glued to the pages and I couldn’t turn them fast enough. How everything comes together at the end was great and it definitely makes for an engrossing reading experience.

Hollow’s Edge is where everyone wants to live. A suburb that sounds completely idyllic, until Ruby, a woman charged with killing two of her neighbors has her case overturned and to everyone’s disbelief returns home to Hollow’s Edge.

Intriguing and compulsive reading. A real favorite of mine so far this year.

I received an advance digital copy from Netgalley of "Her White Lie", by Jackie Walsh, in exchange for my honest review. This was a new author to me.
Tara, a thirtyish barista, has recently lost her Mom, is planning her dream wedding to the love of her life, a cross-country move, and hiding a "dangerous secret". Faye, a doctor, was Tara's best friend from age 8 and at Huntley Lodge house during college. The body of Avril, murdered 34 years ago, is discovered there. The police are interested in Tara & Faye due to the timeframe.
The first 30 chapters drug on & on, lots of Tara worrying about the "dangerous secret", intended to build suspense - just annoyed me. Not much character building or background. It took 54 chapters to learn Tara had siblings. The police officers had more depth than the groom, Lucas.
Granted, I haven't been 30 for awhile, but the dialog & behavior seemed more twenties than thirties. I wanted to be thrilled, but admit I began to skim just to get through. I did appreciate the twists and surprises towards the end. The concept of the story was good, needs better execution.

An easy read with enough to keep me guessing and an outcome that wasn't too obvious early on. Without giving any spoilers I will say that there seemed to me to be a rather large case of coincidence relating to the perpetrator of the crime. That aside, I still found the book enjoyable and a worthwhile read.

The second book I have read from this author and an intense psychological thriller.

Tara is planning her dream wedding--she was going to get married soon and move with her new husband Lucas to Australia. But then the discovery of a body in Huntley Lodge, where long time ago, Tara shared the lodge with her friend, Faye and Andrieu during their college years prompted the police to question Tara. The victim's name is Avril Ryan and according to the police, Tara was the last person she had called before she was murdered. But despite the police's suspicion, Tara has never met Avril Ryan nor ever met and wondered how on earth this girl got her number...

The story is told from the perspectives of Tara and Faye--Tara works as a barista in a cafe while Faye is a doctor. While Tara sounds friendly and a bit naive, Faye on the other hand sounds like a disturbing character with a vendetta against Tara for something Tara had done during their college years. We do not know which character is telling the truth so the unpredictability of the characters is something I like. However, since there were not much suspects, the one who actually murdered Avril Ryan was obvious and also not much of twists and turns you would expect in a fast paced thriller. Nonetheless, the writing was good, the author did a good job drawing the reader into the story. I also would say that the plot is also good as the thought of a discovery of a dead body actually intrigued me.

Characters wise, I think I like Tara, though despite the fact that in the beginning I couldn't stand Faye's character, I started to like her towards the end.

Overall, this is a good thriller that will keep you hooked into the story--worth four stars!

Thank you Netgalley and Hera publishers for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

Tara and Faye were the best friends until one day something happened and they weren't. Now a body is found on the Huntley Lodge property where they lived 3 years before. All the stress comes spiraling back from the past once the case for the body found starts to build.

This book was 2 POVs with also past and present intertwined for each chapter. I felt like this book was easy to follow even with the multiple chapter changes.

This book was a great mystery/thriller with a handful of twists. It was such an easy read with short chapters and kept me on my toes the whole time. Definitely recommend picking this book up!

Tara Moore is getting married. After the wedding she is moving from Dublin to Australia. A dream plan.

It seems all perfect before a body is found at the house she used to live with friends three years ago.

This discovery leads to rebuild the lost contact with her ex best friends Faye and Andriu. And secrets, lies, missunderstandings.

It was a nice and page turning read. I loved Tara and her devotion to the people she loved. The life is not easy but there are people around us who make it easier to manage.

Only just got round to trading this book, but it’s not a bad over it was interesting if not predictable, I would have said good read. I honestly sussed out the killer farmy early on. Also despite what Kaye and her so called best friend I
Hsd worked out they had done something bad but no I didn’t have either down for cold blooded murder. I honest could not be friends with Megan shhe was a weak person extremely so, hsd to get lucid to reassure her. She really was pathetic and needed constant reassurance. Kaye wasn’t much better. If my best fring if I thought she had betrayed me I wouldn’t just walk away I would want answers otherwise there would have been blood. Of course we all
Should walk away such weak characters both of them , ,,Whst I really would have liked wax book that would hold me. Not with pathetic pair. Not convinced at all by the characters at all, I should have given up when I almost did. Wish I had of done now.

In Her White Lie, Tara is all set to be married and move to Australia, but then a body is found where she used to live. Will she be able to make it down the aisle without the police finding out her secret?

I love unreliable narrators and books where you are purposely misled to think one thing when in actuality an entirely different thing happened. Basically, I loved this book. I thought the storytelling was perfect, just a few glimpses into the past without it being a lot of extra information you didn't need to know. The twists in this were so good and completely change your opinion about some of the characters. Also, I loved watching the devolution of one of the characters as you get closer and closer to learning a new twist. For me, this book is a 4.5/5.

If you like thrillers with lots of twists, misleading inner dialogue, and of course an old fashioned murder, this book is for you.

Faye and Tara used to be friends and roommates but they had a falling out a few years back. When a long dead body is found at the apartment they used to rent together, they are forced to make contact and both have things to hide.

3.5 stars.

This book was fine. It was a fairly short read. There was nothing earth shattering. I get annoyed when the characters keep referring to the secret they are keeping but we get no insight into what the secret is for a long stretch. That was the case in this book. It was overall a decent read.

You’ll be hooked right away and won’t want to put this baby down. Unputdownable if that’s a word is one way to phrase it. Or just you won’t want to put it down!

Tara and Faye were inseparable growing up but things change and Tara isn't really sure why...about to marry her fiancé and head of down under and live a new life in Australia, Tara is unsure what really happened with her friendship with Faye.

Faye on the other hand holds Tara responsible for everything that has gone wrong in her life and can't believe Tara can go on living her best Instagram life without even showing a bit or remorse for what she did to her.

The friends relationship seems beyond repair and even more so when the remains of a body are found in a house they shared together when they were at uni and it looks like Tara was the last person to see the victim.

Tara has her own secrets and just wants to be on that plane to OZ starting her new married life with the man of her dreams.

With Faye hell bent on revenge and detectives watching her every move, will that even be possible?

Really enjoyed this roller coaster read with twists you just don't see coming.

Great read.

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book, this is my honest opinion.

Her White Lie by Jackie Walsh had me hooked from the very start. This one ticked all of the boxes for me as a dual timeline, dual perspective narrative that kept me guessing until the very end, and I devoured every word.

Tara is marrying Lucas, the love of her life, and the two are excited as they prepare to begin a new life in Australia. But when a newscast reports that a woman's body has been found at Huntley Lodge, Tara is immediately transported back to a time when she lived at the residence with her best friend at the time, Faye. The two friends have been estranged for years, but the discovery will bring them back into each other's lives, secrets from the past will surface, and the anatomy of a friendship gone wrong will be put under a microscope.

This is a must read from an author who has yet to disappoint. I cannot wait to dive into whatever comes next.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Hera Books for an ARC.

4.5 Stars

“I know it could backfire on me. But to hell with it. I want my revenge…I’m fully aware of the trouble this will cause. It’s a lie…I feel better already…”

Tara and Faye have been the very best of friends. Growing up together they were inseparable. Then something happened that fractured their friendship…something that one can’t forget or forgive. Three years pass, and Tara finds herself getting ready to marry the man of her dreams and move to Australia to live out their happily ever after. But the past comes knocking on Tara’s door, threatening to destroy all she holds dear, and the dark secret she believes destroyed her friendship with Faye is about to come to light…or is it?

Buckle up Dear Reader because the author hooks you within the first few pages and makes this book impossible to put down! With the story being told from both points of view between Tara and Faye, the tale unfolds as each character reveals their little white lies…and how the truth never stays buried…no matter how much time passes… “Time. Wouldn’t it be great to have a button, to be able to pause, rewind, fast forward? Or a special box to put time away in and take it back out when I need it. But there is no button, no box. Time owns me…”

Not everything is as it seems, and if you enjoy a good psychological thriller, then I highly recommend HER WHITE LIE!

I would like to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to review Her White Lie by Jackie Walsh! I would recommend this book to fellow readers who enjoy a good murder mystery!

I love when the author is able to do a dual narrative flipping back and forth between past and present This novel was well written and the chapters easily flowed together. My attention was easily captivated early on and I enjoyed the twists and turns! On multiple occasions I had doubted my original suspicions . If you enjoy a good thriller with lies and deceit, you will love Her White Lie Jackie Walsh will easily be on my radar for future novels.

This was a twisty and fun read, though was one of those books where a lot could have been resolved if the characters just talked to each other (if you read my reviews, you know this is a soap-box item for me :)). It centers on Tara, who is getting ready to get married and move from Dublin to Australia. When a body is found at the place Tara lived a few years back with her former best friend, Faye, suspicion threatens to put all of her plans on hold. The story is narrated in alternating POVs between Tara and Faye, and goes back and forth between the current time and 3 years prior when they lived together.

The author does a good job at causing doubt as it relates to any number of characters. Though I did figure out who the villain was, I questioned myself more than once, and wasn't sure if the narrators were reliable. That being said, there was a twist at the end that I absolutely did not see coming.

I was inexplicably bothered by the fact that the "past" was only 3 years ago- no good reason for this but it didn't seem that long ago for things not to be fresher in their minds- just a small nit that may not bother anyone else.

Overall, this was a fun read that I finished quickly. I'd recommend it to those who like psychological thrillers. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
