Sadly this book was not for me.
I tried up to around 40% by the Katya and ‘Jake’ instant connection felt very wrong and the fact that Liam never actually bothered to tell his family about his change of travel plans seems very immature for someone who has this loving family surrounding him. Also, the writing is honestly not the best nor the most gripping. A lot of repetitions from the different POVs but also vey poor adjectives, like nice and good used a tad too much.
Thank you for this copy and I am sorry I did not enjoy it as I thought I would.

Wow, what a story! Liam’s twin brother tragically and recently died by suicide and his mom has dementia. So his wife of a few decades, Alanda, convinces him to trek a leg of the Camino de Santiago, something he always wanted to experience, to find some peace again. He’ll only be gone for three weeks. He’ll be back in plenty of time for his youngest daughter’s wedding. But, on the plane, Liam sees an advertisement for a ski resort and decides to take a spontaneous side trip to the slopes before his long hike. Of course he doesn’t inform his family, he’s a grown man who can take care of himself. A few days later, Alanda is frantic after not being able to reach Liam and she reports him missing. Simultaneously, a John Doe wakes up in a French hospital with a broken femur and total amnesia. He had no phone or ID on him when rescued so the nurses nickname him Jack. Katya visits her dying uncle every day and becomes helpful with the language barrier for his roommate. When her uncle passes on, she continues to visit Jack and they develop feelings for each other. What a perfect storm!!! Alandra (whom I immediately felt sympathetic towards) and Liam (whom I did -at the beginning...) were happily married - even though Liam was suffering from a midlife crisis. After a total comedy of errors, Liam doesn't know who he is or where he is or anything about himself - except that he's fallen in love with Katya. Once he does know - he wants to keep one foot in each world and is a total mess. I originally felt empathy towards Katya - until she decides to intervene on Liams recovery. I stayed angry about 90% of this book and wanted to burn the whole village up by the end - but I guess that's the sign of a good author ;) Thank you to Netgalley and Louise Voss for a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

His Other Woman is a heartbreaking and gut wrenching story by Louise Voss. Beware that you definitely need to be in the right mood to get through this one. But if you're in the mood for an emotionally charged story, look no further. This one will keep you up late into the night!

Liam is experiencing what I'll say to be midlife crises. In order not to do something drastic like divorcing his loving wife, he decides to take a trip in order to take his mind off things. Things don't work out as planned and he goes skiing instead. There, he gets involved in an accident and forgets about who he is. Temporary memory loss. He meets Katya at the hospital and they fall in love. What would happen when he regains his memory?

This was a book that I started reading months ago but never got to finish until this month. Honestly, I don't even know why.
Personally, I love the book but I feel sometimes it was dragging. Not really straight to the point. However, the storyline is good, makes you guess a lot. It was thrilling especially when Katya, Alanda and Liam met. I felt Liam had a whole lot of bad luck. First the accident, then the temp memory loss, then falling from Katya, regaining his memory again, Alanda leaving him, finding out Katya isn't whom she claimed to be. Ugh. It's too much for one person. I don't even know how he managed to remain sane through it all. At a point, Alanda annoyed me. Same with Katya. The lying girl! I guess Liam was the true victim in all of this.

However, the ending was amazing. I think everything fell back to the way it was meant to be.

When a book can keep me awake into the wee hours of the morning, tell yourself we have a winner.
I loved everything about this book, especially the twist at the end. I really couldn't believe what happened. The main characters especially the husband Liam will have you feeling very sad at some points. My heart truly went out to him in the end. Katya (the other woman), well I had her back until... (I won't say much here cause I want persons to read this).
What I can say is that this story was a really touching and believable tale of marriage and how even the strongest of marriages can have turmoil.

This was a rollercoaster of a read that I found heart breaking. Really enjoyed it and oft had me hooked from the start. Would highly recommend this book.

Happily married Liam goes on a solo trip….suffers an accident and looses his memory…. A decent book that kept me gripped.

This story was kind of brutal. So much heartache for everyone involved. Decisions made, lies told and relationships ruined. It’s an honest look at infidelity, second chances and family life that had me hooked.

Alanda and Liam are happily married with three grown up children. After Liam’s twin brother committed suicide and his mother being diagnosed with dementia he decides he could do with a break to clear his mind and Alanda and the family support his decision to take a three week walking holiday in Spain. He texts the family when he lands but then suddenly changes his plans and decides to go skiing in France and inform the family when he arrives. After a few days Alanda contacts the police as they haven’t heard from Liam. She can’t believe that he has simply runaway and after contacting hospitals in Spain in case he has had an accident it seems that he has just disappeared. In France Liam wakes up in hospital with his leg in plaster and with no idea where or who he is. He had no ID or mobile on him when he was found after his accident on the ski slopes and so the staff at the hospital named him Jack. As he starts his recovery he begins a conversation with Katya, who is visiting her elderly uncle and before long they start a relationship. Jack thinks he can’t have any family as no one seems to have reported him missing and so moves in with Katya when he is discharged from hospital. Back in England Alanda hasn’t given up the search for Liam and when a positive sighting is reported she flies to France only to find a very changed Liam/Jack and more upsetting living with another woman. Liam leaves Katya and returns home to the family up he is a changed man. Will he stay with Alanda or return to Katya? This was a book full of emotion and drama which takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. A highly recommended read.

I was left with extremely mixed feelings about this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first two-thirds of it.
The author took a unique premise and ran with it. The concept of a loved one going missing while on a trip and the worry that ensues is something that just about everyone can relate to.
I liked how the author balanced between Alanda trying to get through life wondering what was happening with Liam trying to understand his new life.
As always, I don’t want to say too much to give away plot points, so it’s going to get a little bit cagey from here on.
I did not care for Katya. I felt sorry for her situation with her Uncle Otto, and there were some truly heartfelt moments as she dealt with all of that. Those were very well written and poignant.
However, once things changed within her…situation…I think she showed just how young and selfish she was. I did not like her choices. I thought that they erased everything that I originally felt about her, as her character was on display, and it wasn’t pretty.
In a way, the same could be said for Alanda. I saw what her “twist” was going to be a mile off, so that was not a surprise to me in any way. It seemed contrived, but in an odd way, it also seemed natural, because it would stand to reason somebody could get carried away with the slightest hint of attention and affection.
The last third of the book seemed like the author didn’t exactly know which way to go, so a lot was thrown out there. I suppose it was supposed to show that even what might seem clear cut isn’t necessarily so.
Once again, Katya is done no favors and ended up being unlikeable overall in my eyes. I was glad to be rid of her.
The book does a decent job of answering the question of whether or not people deserve second (or third) chances. And if they do – are those chances worth it?
Sometimes people do need to experience heartbreak and hardship in order to realize what matters the most. That came across loud and clear.
I did like how the author didn’t necessarily wrap everything up in a neat little bow. Life isn’t like that. There was a hint of a promise of something regrowing, but it wasn’t all sunshine and unicorns.
So, to sum up: first two-thirds were great, and the last third was questionable. But overall, it was a stark look at the futures we make for ourselves and there was a healthy dose of realism throughout.

This is a hard book to review without sounding negative or giving too much away. It was an ok read that could have been amazing had it just gone in a few different directions. That said, I liked the book well enough to finish it and I can see that others loved this book. It's just a matter of preference.

Well what a rollercoaster this was. Liam Lodge is a married middle age father of three who is finally taking a solo holiday with the blessing of his family. But when they don't hear from it, they start to worry and that worry is only compounded as months go by with no word. He is not where he is supposed to be and there is no trace of him at all. Meanwhile, Jack is in recovering from a nasty skiing accident that broke his leg and stole his memory. Luckily, he meets and falls in love with Katya and they are starting a new life together when all hell breaks loose. A great story of family and lives being torn apart. I won't give too much away but strap yourself in for a ride with this gem.

This is a tough one to review because I really enjoyed this book at times. I found the overall premise of the novel an interesting one. I’m not sure I agreed with much that happened, but it was interesting nonetheless. Watching the characters change and evolve throughout the novel, and then very realistically regret their decisions helped make this more relatable to me because who hasn’t made decisions that they later were smacking themselves for?

Unfortunately, there were so many other times that I didn’t enjoy this book. First, why didn’t Liam just let everyone know what he had decided when he left on his trip? Lord, that would have saved some drama? And what in the hell was up with Alanda’s sudden lifestyle change later in the book? What was happening with Liam suddenly cycling all of the time even though his leg still hurt too bad to take a walk? And then there was Katya… I admit that early in the novel, I found her extremely immature and almost not completely stable. This was confirmed towards the end of the book when that little twist came along, but I liked nothing about her from beginning to end.

And my main confusion is that this is described as “heartbreaking.” I didn’t see any real emotional connections between any of the characters that could categorize this novel as heartbreaking.

If you are a fan of women’s fiction with a disappearance and a ton of obstacles to overcome, then His Other Woman may be your next favorite read. It’s a bit slow to start but once it picks up, you really can’t help reading along despite all of the moments you have to stop and wonder what in the world these people are thinking. This was a 3-star read for me despite some issues, simply because of the creativity the author put into the conflicts and resolutions.

Liam decided to take a trip in Spain He was upset that his twin brother killed himself out of depression. So of he went leaving his wife, Amanda, his children, Heather, Becky and Jake. Promising he would be back to walk his daughter down the aisle to marry Kevin.

After arriving in Madrid, he decided to take a detour to the Alps to ski for a couple of days. He had a accident on the slopes. Taken t the hospital, no wallet, no I D. He woke up not knowing who he was, they named him Jack. Jack had a serious leg injury and was in a cast. Not knowing who he was, . She came to like Jack, knowing he didn't know who he was, she read to him and it to know him. Later she decided to invite him to her home since he didn't have any where else Togo,
He ended up getting involved with Katy a the young girl at the Apartment. Started a romantic relationship with her, not knowing who he was and it was a emotional dilemma that he couldn't remember. His wife Amanda searched and searched for him I will now not continue with his story, keeps you on your toes to find out what happens next. I truly loved reading this authors story.

I am such a sucker for emotional heartbreaking stories, so when I read the synopsis for His Other Woman by Louise Voss, I knew I had to read it. I want to be drawn in and feel the pain and emotion oozing off of the characters and in this story we have that in spades.

Liam is having a sort of midlife crisis. With the recent loss of his twin brother to suicide and his mother’s health declining due to dementia, Liam seems to be at a cross roads, the first of many as the story progresses. His wife Alandra encourages him to get away for a while and partake in the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage in Spain, in order to clear his mind and all of the troubles that are affecting his life. Only, the trip does not go as planned and Liam vanishes out of thin air. His wife and children are beside themselves with worry not knowing what happened to Liam. Is he alive or laying in a ditch somewhere? Did he just up and leave them for another woman?

This story does move at a slow pace, but I think at times sometimes this is necessary as it makes you more aware of the complexities of the characters in this story. We get to learn more about Liam especially from his wife Alandra as well as getting to know Alandra and her happy life with her husband. We also learn about Katya, the other woman in Liam’s life. I think a central theme running through this story is how love is blind and how one can be in love with more than one person. Of course, this isn’t just a run of the mill falling in love with someone else while married. This story is so much more complicated than that (in a good way.)

I think through everything and one of the things I have taken away from this story is sometimes you can have compassion and sympathy for all of the characters as each is hurting in their own way and how one can be stuck at a crossroads not knowing what path to take knowing that either path taken someone will get hurt.

A split second decision has massive consequences... Liam is grieving for his twin brother and decides to embark on a trip to Spain. He waves goodbye to his wife and three children but then spots a poster for a ski resort. In an instant, he chooses to head there instead but has a catastrophic accident before he phones home to tell them of his change of plan. Waking up with amnesia, will he ever be reunited with his family...?
His Other Woman is an intriguing 'what if...' type of book. The situation was credible and makes you wonder how you would react.
The story is delivered though three viewpoints: Alanda, Liam and Katya. I really enjoyed the three perspectives of this family drama as events unfolded. It was easy to identify with the main characters and understand their actions even when not agreeing with them.
Liam has had a tough few years and his wife Alanda supports his need to get away. There is a hint of a midlife crisis too as he decides to act with a spontanetity that is out of character. His commitment and love for his family is never in doubt but then he gets amnesia as a result of an accident and relies heavily upon Katya for his recovery. I felt that things moved very fast but Katya's motives become clearer later in the book.
The stress and upset for Alanda and her children is described so authentically. Their battle to stay positive and hopeful when there is no news for months is heartbreaking. I honestly had no idea how I wanted this book to end and which woman Liam should choose. Things get tangled in the final part of the book but I thought the ending was a fitting conclusion.
His Other Woman is a thoroughly entertaining family drama that will get you thinking 'what if...'
