After losing his brother and his mother having to go into a home with dementia Liam is encouraged by his wife and children to go on a 3 week break to Spain. While his at the airport he makes a spur of the moment decision to go to France skiing and tell no-one.
After the family hear nothing from him for weeks they contact the police but no-one knows where he is and there's no trace of anyone fitting his description.
What follows is a complicated series of events that turns everyone's lives upside down.
Loise voss first non-crime book for years and she's written a winner.A very enjoyable read and I recommend it.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

Imagine your husband of 30 years wanting to go away for 3 weeks of hiking because he’s having a mid-life crisis. He decides not to go hiking and goes skiing instead without telling his family. He wakes up in a hospital with no memory and meets Katya, the other woman. This book grabbed me from the very first page and it was a quick read. It was a nice change of pace from all the psychological thrillers I’ve been reading lately. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest opinion.

I enjoyed this book. It was the first time I have read this author but I hope it will not be the last. I enjoyed the twists and turns.

I have read several books by Louise Voss and Mark Edwards and really enjoyed them so looked forward to reading this with Louise on her own. I thoroughly enjoyed this family drama with a few twists to keep me reading. The characters were likeable and the story was maybe a bit predictable but I enjoyed it still. I look to read more by this author.

I'd like to thank the author, publisher and Net Galley for providing a free e-book ARC copy of this book in exchange for my review.

I really wanted to like this, to dig into a good thriller and page turner. But this one didn't work out for me at all. I was confused by the higher reviews for the book because it felt like such a nothing. I had trouble caring about any of the characters and just wanted to be finished with the book. I'm sorry to say that, but it really just didn't work for me.

1 star for 'did not like it'.

First, thank you to the publishers at Bookouture and Netgalley for this e-ARC of His Other Woman.

His Other Woman begins with a family seeing their father, Liam, off for a 3 week pilgrimage in Spain. After losing his brother and dealing with his aging mother’s dementia, everyone decides that he needs this trip, his “midlife crisis” so to speak. But while waiting to board his plane, he decides on a different plan.

After his family doesn’t hear from him for a few days, they begin to worry, understandably so, and contact the police. Unfortunately, Liam, is nowhere to be found. Alanda, his wife, is beyond wracked with guilt for making him take this trip, as well as worry.

What happens in His Other Woman is nothing if not shocking and scandalous. The plot moves slowly at first, but quickly picks up around 40% in. This is when I finally felt truly invested. The twists were interesting, but in the end, I hated each and every character. Their actions didn’t make sense to me, and some of it felt a bit forced. Before this point, I really enjoyed Liam and Katya’s points of view, so it was a bit unfortunate.

If you enjoy books about missing persons, this may be right up your alley! His Other Woman releases July 2!

His other woman is a heart rending read that I absolutely loved! Based in my home city of Salisbury with many familiar places made it even more special!
Liam, married with three children is having a midlife crisis type event triggered by the death of his twin brother in tragic circumstances and decides to go away on his own for several weeks to hike in Spain, his family wave him off at the airport expecting to see him back within a few weeks! What follows is an agonising time for the family as Liam doesn’t respond to texts, calls and messages and to all intents and purposes has vanished/ disappeared with no trace! Police searches, internet awareness, media campaigns ensue and finally after several months a positive sighting is reported! His wife jets off to find him only to be confronted with a very changed Liam/Jack who has set up a whole new life with someone else!
Such a heartbreaking, tender, sensitive portrayal of post accident amnesia and the ramifications that follow!
A great read that I would highly recommend!
Thank you netgalley for this early read.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for an early copy of His Other Woman. What started out as a very good plot, became a what were you thinking??? I don’t want to give spoilers away, but this book went way off the deep end. There was absolutely no rhyme or reason for the middle of the book. I’m sorry to give this type of review especially one that had promise.

Oh I really enjoyed this book. I do love a good family drama and this one had more than its fair share of twists and turns! Liam and Alanda seem to have the perfect relationship so when Liam disappears while on a walking trip in Spain Alanda and her children are absolutely devastated. While we life through the heartbreak of his family, we also follow the story of what happens to Liam while he is abroad which is great as I thought maybe we would be waiting till the end in limbo along with the family!
The characters in this book are so well written and believable I would certainly recommend this one.

This is my first book by this author and I have to say it's always thrilling getting to know a new (to me anyway) author.

I normally don't read blurbs before I start a book, but because I did the cover reveal for this one a few weeks ago, I couldn't help seeing the first sentence while copying and pasting and I thought: 'this is my kind of book'. And was it...?

Oh yes, it most certainly was, but sometimes I thought: 'Really? How can you do that?' But then, after having finished the book, I started to look at it from a different angle. It's true when they say that every story has two sides, isn't it?

When you are not aware of something, you act in the way you feels is best for you at that time, because what if it's your only chance at happiness? You would grab it with both hands too, wouldn't you?

You cannot chose when you fall in love or whom it will be with, but is love sometimes not being confused with attraction or something exciting which might fade away rather fast? And then there might only 'what if' left...

Life certainly is about taking chances, but be careful tough. You probably will hurt some people in the process and think twice before you throw something away. You might get it back or you might not.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I liked the twist the author added and I had strong doubts about the quality of the work the police forces did. 5 stars.

Thank you, Louise Voss and Bookouture

Liam is facing a mid-life crisis and heads off on a planned hike to rest and reset. He kisses his wife and kids goodbye and steps on the plane. While traveling an uncommon moment of spontaneity hits him and he decides to head in a different direction for a quick ski trip. The next thing he knows, he wakes up in the hospital with a leg injury and no memory of what happened or who he is.

Liam's family is understandably panicked when they cannot get ahold of him. Their search expands, and they find him - but now he is in love with a newer, younger woman. What happens? Will his memory return?

I really enjoyed this book.
Interesting characters and romantic twists.

Sometimes a touch predictable but there were some surprises.

3.5*

This book was a really good easy read. But. I found it quite predictable and clichéd.

Sometimes though, an easy book is just what is needed.

Firstly, I want to thank NetGalley for letting me read this book in exchange for a honest review.

It is a clever storyline and quite unique - Liam goes on a trip to Spain just before his daughter’s wedding to see if it will help him feel better.
His wife, Alanda, encourages him to go, hoping it will cheer her husband up.
But then, Liam seems to vanish, and his family is extremely worried about him. Where is he?
Could things go back to normal when they find him? Will things be the same?

I enjoyed the first half of the book, but then I found the situations annoying, and it made me roll my eyes in nearly every chapter. Not only about some decisions the characters were making, but also the way they were going about it.

It is my first book by Louise Voss though, and I would read another one.

Can you think about a situation where finding a lost loved one would be worse than losing them?

Yes, they’re still alive.

Louise Voss explores how memory and identity shape us. Her characters struggle to understand where they fit into the convoluted mystery and your heart will break for everyone involved.

Voss capably dropped me into the plot and made me confront the unbelievable choices and experience the dire consequences of actions that I could not control. Bring the tissues as Voss writes about family and forgiveness.

I’m sorry I can’t tell you more. It would give the whole storyline away and I’m not that type of reviewer. This is a fabulous read that will leave you contemplating what you’d do in the same situation. It will stay in your thoughts for days.

Sometimes impromptu decisions bear consequences. It only takes a split second to make a decision, but this family has to live with the consequences of a self-centered choice.

“You are free to choose, but you are not free to alter the consequences of your decisions.” - Ezra Taft Benson

I am not new to this author, I have read most of her earlier thriller reads and the ones she wrote with Mark Edwards but this was a completely different read and what a brilliant family drama this was. It was so brilliantly written, full of emotion and suspense I just loved every page from the beginning until the end.

All the characters felt so real, just a great read with an absolute brilliant ending, just as it should have been.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this fantastic book which I can thoroughly recommend.

Liam's wife and children encourage him to take a hiking trip to improve his mental health after losing his twin brother and coping with his mum getting dementia. When he makes a last minute change to his plans, it turns out to have devastating consequences... his family do not hear from him and cannot understand why he vanished. Even if they can find him again, will he be the same? A thrilling plot that keeps you turning the pages, a range of interesting characters and a satisfying ending, I recommend this book. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest feedback.
