Matt Rogan is a well-known and respected sports business leader and the co-founder of Two Circles, the fastest growing sports agency in the UK.
‘All To Play For’ is his latest book and is labeled, ‘How sport can reboot our future’.
I feel a prologue can make or break a book; With this one, I found myself smiling and nodding furiously and I couldn’t wait to get started with the main body of text.
If focuses on how sport can unite us, the history sections are fascinating. Some of the detail I knew, the majority of it for me was insightful and answered many questions.
The book tackles so many topical areas, age, sex, behaviour, class and income and is bang up to date with the effects on sport of Brexit and the pandemic.
As well as mainstream sports such as cricket and football, it also touches on new sports such as drone racing and E-Sports.
What could have been a wordy read, is perfectly punctuated with a series of short, well timed interviews with a variety of people directly involved in the topics and initiatives being discussed.
The subject of the 2012 Olympic legacy is tackled, I believe that this book is a part of this legacy, it is so interesting and would be perfect for sports discussion groups.
