This story of kidnapped president’s daughter/family member has been done before. Former president Clinton and author Patterson have created a story with political insights following the terrorism crisis. The daughter is kidnapped on U.S. soil and smuggled out of the country to the Middle East. This seems a little bit difficult to believe.

(from the ebook) - I have the audio, the quality of narration is good, and I've found that it was an easier read than listen - less suspension of disbelief required. As I missed downloading this before it was archived, I have it now myself anyway.

From my ebook review (https://www.netgalley.com/book/223306/reviews)
I will say up front that I wasn't sure I'd enjoy this, but wanted to give it a try. I've since changed my mind so much that I'm looking out more Patterson.
A gripping, sometimes slightly unbelievable read that is enjoyable, interesting and engaging. The characters were mostly believable, but...as with most thrillers, and not to knock it, I've had to sit at a few places and go 'called it'. Which was disappointing, but it's a problem with all but a few thrillers now, as I read them voraciously.

Well worth the read however!

Definitely less predictable than I feared. Kept me interested though I do find the over emotional voices used a little irritating particularly for the daughter.

After reading "The President is Missing", the first book by Bill Clinton and James Patterson, last year I absolutely jumped at the chance to read this their second book, and it didn't disappoint.

The narrators of the audiobook were fantastic and I found it easy to tell the characters apart. It brings even more life to an excellent story though listening to the audiobook.

The book centres on Michael Keating, the former President of the United States, as well as a former Navy SEAL. Keating finds himself at the top of the hit list of an international assassin, with his daughter the main target (as per the books title!).

The blurb tells us "Keating's SEAL training may prove more essential than all the power, connections, and political acumen he gained as President" and this is certainly true. Keating is not on the best of terms with the new President, who swept his second term from under him, so he finds that he must battle to the core to save his daughter, Mel, from the clutches of Al Asheed.

The book is full of tension, drama and all out action, along with a few lucky coincidences (though perhaps implausible) to bring Keating on the right track. A great read with excellent descriptions that put you right at the heart of the story,

I really enjoyed this book - thank you to Netgalley
I listened as an audio and enjoyed the delivery it was nice to hear different voices to deferenciate the different characters
I found myself trying to guess what was going to happen next and there were a number of plot twists I wasnt expecting
all in all a good James Patterson offering

I love Patterson's book and didn't read the first one he wrote with Bill Clinton.
It's an entertaining, gripping and easy read. The plot is tightly knitted and there's plenty of action.
The first chapters were quite slow paced and it took a bit to be hooked.
I enjoyed it but it's less exciting than I was expecting.
It's a political thriller where the villains are so bad, the women are damsels in distress and there's plenty of stereotypes about Muslim and Chines.
I think you have to read it as a sort of political fantasy thriller.
I think that Clinton added some interesting insights on how things work at the White House.
The voices of the narrators improved the experience and I liked it better
I recommend it if you want an easy and entertaining read.

Fast paced and full of action so compelled me to keep reading. Even more realistic as Clinton had input. Thanks for letting me read

#ThePresidentsDaughter is the first book by #JamesPatterson I have read/listened to, so I can not comment on how the collaboration with #BillClinton is going. The narration of this book is great as there is a full cast. #tonygoldwyn reads the presidents wonderfully. But then again I am a fan of #Scandal This audiobook came with me everywhere and I was plugging in at every opportunity. The drama – wow!
The story unfolds with the kidnapping of the former POTUS’s daughter by a Libyan terrorist who blames the former POTUS for the deaths of his family. This all unfolds while there is tension between the former and current POTUS.
I will definitely be looking in to adding more of this duo’s work to my TBR pile.

This Audiobook was so full of life with different characters you could really get lost in the whole story. The characters were well developed and thought out. I really enjoyed the book, I think / hope that the insider knowledge from Clinton has added to the validity of the scenario's the former president, the current president and the former President's daughter find themselves in! My only (minor) gripe was when listening to the description of the weapons I felt it was unecessary to go into that level of detail, I certainly don't know the difference!

Matthew Keating, ex US Navy SEAL, was Vice President & became President unexpectedly after the death of his predecessor. When he was pressured into standing down in favour of his own Vice President at the next election, he accepted a quite retirement in New England fishing, doing charitable work, maybe writing his memoirs whilst his wife Samantha accepted a professorship at a Boston university to pursue her archaeological career and their daughter Mel attended the prestigious Dartmouth College. As ex-POTUS, Matt is entitled to personal protection but this was declined by his wife & not available to his daughter after she turned sixteen. Unfortunately this decision would lead to Mel being kidnapped, her boyfriend murdered, and little support from the current President … so Matt decides to take matters into his own hands, engaging the help of those loyal to him – political/diplomatic friends, SEALs he’d served with and trusted members of his protection team.
This book took me a while to get into – the first part of the story was important but I struggled to know where the book was going for quite some time. In fact I came close to giving up by around chapter 10, as the story unfolding bore no resemblance to the summary but am glad that I stuck with it as the pace increased & it was one of those that you didn’t want to put down! I am also pleased that the “twist” in the middle happened – without it, the book would have been mediocre. I can’t help feeling that the book has been written with the film-rights in mind (hence the scene setting at the start), but there is no denying that this would make a good film!
I did a combination of reading this book & listening to the audiobook and can recommend both approaches. The multiple narrators worked very well – they had distinctive voices & you were therefore able to tell whose perspective you were hearing at that moment. It wouldn’t have worked with a single narrator!

Overall, if you like a fast-paced, action thriller with a political undertone (and can get through the first few chapters) then you will enjoy this. Whilst there is no doubt that the majority of the action thriller was crafted by Patterson, Clinton has provided a unique insight into the life of the former president, rather than the current incumbent & I can’t help feeling that Mel was possibly based somewhat on his own daughter Chelsea who would have been a similar age when he left office.

Disclosure: I received an advance reader copy of this book & audiobook free via NetGalley. Whilst thanks go to the author & publisher for the opportunity to read it, all opinions are my own.

Well this was an interesting listen. I was really intrigued to see what is going to be like. and it was a really well researched (which you would expect) and I really wanted to know what happened, which is a sign of a good book/audio.

It was very produced and I didn't really like the musical interludes.

The chapters were very short which lead to one more chapter so ended up listening a lot longer in a session which is also a good point.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

I listened to the audio version of this book and it has a full cast of great narrators. particularly the narrator who voiced the President. I've now realised that he also played the President in the TV Show Scandal - Tony Goldwyn, so used to the presidency and well voiced.

In this book, the only daughter of former President Matthew Keating has been kidnapped by a Libyan terrorist who blames Keating for the deaths of his wife and three daughters. Keating uses his contacts at the White House administration, as well as some of his other contacts, to launch a military style rescue operation.

It's told from the point of view of different characters and was very enjoyable. It took a little while to get into the book, but when gets going for me from part 2, was very enjoyable. Most chapters start with some scene setting and although a little annoying at the beginning was very useful and great when got into it and very entertaining, if not particularly believable at time, not that it really matters.

There are different characters from the first book by Clinton and Patterson and both very interesting reads. A good collaboration between Clinton and Patterson. I wonder if there's more to come!!

Thanks to Penguin Random House Digital Audio and Cornerstone for the opportunity to listen to tis audio book.

Sadly I was not able to review this as it was unavailable when I came to listen to the download. I am disappointed but understand that this happens sometimes.

When former president Matt Keating’s daughter is kidnapped by violent terrorist Asim Al-Aheed the race is on to save her. Current president Barnes and her administration are slow to react and this results in a terrifying video being sent to the press.
Keating takes matters into his own hands and call upon his former Navy seals comrades to assist in a rescue mission
I found this story fairly predictable and didn’t gel particularly well with the characters
I was irritated by the way the female president was portrayed as being reliant on her husband and alcohol to get through, while the former president’s wife was then able to blackmail her into turning a blind eye when needed.
The narrative was read by several people depending upon the character telling the story at the time

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to listen and review

I have slightly mixed views about this book. The plotting and story is complex and there are surprises. There are insights into White House protocols and procedures that are interesting. It’s well written and in the audio version, a number of different narrators tell the story well. But somehow, it fell flat, for me. I kept listening but failed to feel excitement or empathy with the main players. They’re ‘real’ enough but rather flat and overall, the story lacked tension. Disappointing but interesting.

My thanks to the publisher for a review copy via Netgalley.

The President’s Daughter is definitely a taut, authentic portrayal of a father’s conviction to save his daughter. This father just happens to be a one-time Navy Seal and ex-POTUS.

Unfortunately it is Matt Keating’s ex presidential role that made his daughter a target for the world’s most elite terrorist, a terrorist set on vengeance and retribution. And although that presidency and the skills obtained as a navy seal set him in good stead when initiating a counter, it all comes down to his profound love for his daughter that ensures failure is not an option.

The narrative flows brilliantly and the characters are portrayed in a way that you find yourself invested in them. I am not sure how much of a role Bill Clinton played in authoring the novel, but I am certain that at the very least he provides a unique perspective to life as both a president and ex-president.

I was fortunate enough to have listened to the Penguin Audiobook narration, a narration that was delivered by a brilliant cast that really brought the characters to life.

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Random House UK for a Review Copy.

Wow! An absolutely action-packed, twisting thriller that is also perfect for an audio book.
The President's Daughter really does have everything a thriller needs, all the action, all the plot twists and shocks, the suspense and the big finale. President Clinton writing this adds a depth to the behind the scenes drama and workings of the White House that only someone who has been President could do.
I loved everything from the story line, to the characters, to the ending.
The narrator was great for the audio book version, keeping you engaged throughout.
I genuinely don't have any constructive criticism for the novel.

This was a highly dramatic story which was compelling in its style. The (previous) US President’s daughter is kidnapped by a terrorist as revenge for the killing of his wife and daughters. It does not end well.
A political and terrorist based tale with different actors playing the parts of the main characters.

I loved this audio and I’m surprised I’m not in hospital as I honestly was holding my breath all the way through it. This is a rip roaring ride and is crazy. I loved the story and the pace and this book does not disappoint at all. I also really love the narrator who is playing the President as he has an amazing voice.

The President’s Daughter is another brilliant, fast paced piece of fiction from James Patterson (& Bill Clinton)
I listened to the audio book version, it took me a few chapters to get used to all the narrators and accents but it didn’t detract from the great storyline and it soon became compulsive listening.
Highly recommended.
