I love picture books, as a former children's librarian. This was my life for 14 years and so nowadays I love to see what cute ones are out there. Little Gordon Grape was so adorably cute and happy. The book is a Christian Kids Picture book written by a Methodist Minister. The book starts with Gordon Grape and his family of grapes in the vineyard. It is picking time to make the wine and Little Gordon Grape is so excited as this is what he sees as his purpose in life. However, when Gordon is picked, he finds himself dropping to the ground and rolling away. Little Gordon Grape becomes dejected and upset and believes he isn't important anymore. That is until the farmer finds him and gives Little Gordon Grape a pep talk about how everyone has a purpose in life and that God has a plan for every one of us and sometimes, we don't even know what that plan is and we are all destined for great things. This book would make a great addition to a Sunday School teaching and every church should have it in its church library. This book after reading it got me thinking, I need to get onto trying to have my dad’s book “The Gingerbread of Evangelism” published as that would make a cute Christian picture book too.

Little Gordon Grape is a revelation for children for how God sees us. I love the concept but it lacks illustration for children to grasp. We can feel alone in this world and it is a great message on how God sees our tears. Little Gordon Grape was not chosen but God chooses us for his glory. The message is timeless.

A special thank you to Literally Ltd and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

It's harvest time in the vineyard and all the grapes are so excited to get picked, especially Little Gordon Grape. He is positive that he will be picked first because when he was watered the master gave him a HUGE smile so he believes that he is his favourite. Will his dream come true or does God have another plan for his life?

This sweet book is written by Methodist Minister in Nottingham, Arnold Dixon. The watercolour illustrations are simple and visually enhance the narrative.

Little Gordon shakes so much with excitement when he sees the grape pickers arrive that he falls away from the vine and away from his family. Thud! He struggles on the ground and calls out to the pickers and his family but his frantic calls are not heeded. Little Gordon is left behind all alone in the dirt and he is terribly upset. He cries and cries and finally falls asleep.

Although he is not picked by the grape pickers he is picked by God Himself through a dream. In this dream God unveils a very special assignment that only little Gordon can carry out. God's presence and His message comforts little Gordon's heart. He assures the little grape that although his family is gone he will never let him be alone. God blesses him and sends him forth to grow more fruit which will make the valley even more beautiful. I love the inspirational message of the book that offers hope and peace to the reader. I highly recommend this book.

I don't really find this to be a kids book I recommend. The pictures were okay however the formatting of the images and text and the story wasn't very good which may have been because I disliked the formatting.

Little Gordon Grape is such a cute book! Through the analogy of a grape being picked, it teaches kids that we are set apart to do things for God and that God has something special for each of us to do. This book would be great to read during story time or in a Christian classroom setting. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book! (This review is also on GoodReads.)

Little Gordon Grape tells the story of Gordon, a grape that is really excited to be picked during the harvest. On the day of the harvest, Gordon is the most excited, and while he is shaking with excitement, he falls off the vine, away from his family. He calls out to the pickers and his family, but no one hears him. He ends up on the ground, all alone and very upset. He cries himself to sleep, and has a dream about the way that God intends to use him. Instead of joining the harvest, Gordon is going to grow more vines and make the Earth more beautiful.

This book teaches children that although we may have ideas of what we want, God may have another plan for us. It is a simple lesson that is a hard one, especially for children, to internalize. This book helps give the lesson a more tangible story, and will help children remember the lesson. This book would be excellent for both younger and older children, but especially when reading with an adult who can help explain the lesson the book is trying to teach.

Thank you to the author, illustrator, publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a sweet, Christian children’s book with a great message. Gordon learned that even when things don’t go the way you expect them to, God always has a plan. It’s a short book, but it packs a lot into the little story. You are really rooting for Gordon! Gordon was adorably illustrated, but the formatting for the kindle app was not quite right, so I didn't’ get to enjoy all the pictures fully.

A simple basic story about a very excited grape, Gordon. It is harvest time and Gordon is all excited about being picked. He is so excited all his wiggling and jiggling gets him separated from the rest of his family. Gordon finds himself alone on the ground. That night God comes to Gordon and explains he has big plans for him and he is never alone.
