I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was surprised at how much I loved this book. The action grips you from the first page and never lets you go. Although, I do wish that more of the novel was written from the sister's perspective because it seems that her character was not fully fledged. Also, although the villain was fun to read, I wish he was more nuanced, often he came off like a cartoon caricature. Ultimately, this is a fun thriller that I can't wait to someday see on the big screen.

No Exit was probably the craziest book I read in 2020 - which was very apropos of the wild ride that 2020 was itself.

I was SO STOKED when I could get a copy of this early on NetGalley and immediately jumped into a Buddy Read with Jenny. The best part of reading this book? The buddy reading element of reading and chatting with Jenny! I definitely had more fun chatting and bantering with her than I did reading this book....spoiler it wasn't my fave!

I had a rollercoaster of emotions with No Exit...I both LOVED and HATED it and ended up on a 3 star since I did like it overall. Unfortunately this one just really fell flat. The beginning was F.I.R.E. Then that was it. I was expecting the crazy elements like we had in No Exit, I mean isn't that Adams' "thing"? We had a weird snake moment...still confused...but that was about it.

I honestly felt bored at the repetition and dual twin timelines - I just wanted it over.

All that being said...I'm almost always in the unpopular opinion camp...so pick it up, read it, love it, devour it...cheers!

Hairpin Bridge was one of my highly anticipated novels of the year. I would love to thank NetGalley for offering me the opportunity to read it prior to the release date.

I had recently read No Exit by Taylor Adams and I was not disappointed. Adams has a way of roping you right in and putting you on the ride of your life. Hairpin Bridge, is nothing short of just that.

Action packed, fast paced, and quite the page turner! Although the ending was predictable, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. I would highly recommend Hairpin Bridge to fans of action packed thrillers. This will be a fan favorite for the summer.

2.5/5 rounded down to 2

Format
The format gets very distracting and it's told in third person so sometimes I have to reread to confirm who’s mind I’m in. Here are all the different perspectives:
- Current/main timeline: Lena, Ray and their respective thoughts
- Lena’s blog
- Camry’s notebook (mostly just at the start)
- Lena’s recount/story of what she thinks happened to Cambry, with Lena’s thoughts weaved in there

Plot
Imagine you are watching an action thriller movie and the whole 2 hours is essentially focused around the epic showdown climax. That is exactly this book with the above perspectives weaved in there. It's exciting at first and hard to put down but it gets a bit much as it's so drawn out and repetitive to the point where it feels like fillers. For example there were too many car scenes and the blogs rambled. Every single chapter is like this so I had to skim.

The extra information or reveals we get from the different perspectives felt insignificant, they didn’t add much to the overall story and I didn’t feel like I learned a lot about the characters so I didn’t connect with any.

The twist was decent. All the different perspectives really lead you to a certain theory which made the twist have a bigger impact.

Characters
Overall I found the focus is more on the action and tension than the characters. Ray was kind of interesting, but the focus is on the sisters.
I don’t understand Lena’s desperate need to sacrifice her life to find out the truth about Cambry. There was a focus/highlight on their relationship but the events about their past didn’t paint a strong enough picture as it wasn’t enough to make me understand them and empathise.

Alternate Ending
For a darker ending, I thought it would’ve been fitting if all of Ray’s confession was recorded. As Lena was so desperate to expose the truth to the whole world, she never considered that it may be one she didn’t want to hear or reveal.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

First, I would like to thank Netgalley.com for the chance to read this amazing thriller, Hairpin Bridge by Taylor Adams. I quite enjoyed Taylor Adams' previous book, No Exit and I was very excited to read this new story. And Hairpin Bridge lived up to every expectation I had! It is the story about twins, Cambry and Lena and the mysterious death of Cambry. Lena feels compelled to find the answers about her sister's death and prepares herself well for the confrontation she will have with the Officer that was involved in the case. I read this book so quickly. It is the epitome of a nail-bitet!! So many twists and turns that you just don't see coming. I hate when I figure out the ending of the book and half-way and there was no way I had this book figured out at all! The shocks and surprises just kept coming!! If you like edge of your seat thrillers, I would highly recommend Hairpin Bridge. It was 5 Stars for me!

This is a story about a girl in search of the truth.

This was an okay read. The perspective shifts were confusing, and the dialogue didn’t land for me. On a positive note there were exciting moments, and it read very quickly.

Thank you Netgalley & Joffe Books for the eArc!

After the initial pages, I found myself not connecting with the story or characters, so I decided to pass on this book. Did not finish

I have been wanting to read No Exit for a while now so I was really excited when this title by Adams was available. I heard both can be rather intense thrillers, which I really need to be in the mood for, but I wanted to give it a try. Honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about this one. It had some major plot twists and a fantastic ending, but the way it was written was somewhat hard to follow. There was so much back and forth with characters, time periods, dreams, reality, etc and it was a bit much. I'm glad I was able to give this one a chance, but I'm not jumping to No Exit anytime soon.

This one was a doozy! Lena decides to investigate her sister's suspicious suicide. Though Lena and her sister were estranged, Lena can't believe that her sister would kill herself. And her sister's last text points a finger at the officer who was the last person to see her alive.

Lena doesn't take anything from anyone and is a total badass while unravelling the truth about her sister's demise. This was fast paced, action packed, and kept me on the edge of my seat.

Unfortunately, at 20% in I have to DNF this book. Nothing really exciting is happening and it feels repetitive. I had really high hopes considering No Exit is one of my favourite thrillers!! Just wasn't feeling the same suspense and vibe I got with No Exit.

This ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Well this was intense. I will say I liked No Exit a lot more but this was still a time. So Lena is trying to figure out what really happened to her twin sister who supposedly jumped to her death from a bridge in Montana. She meets up with the cop who found her body, Raymond Raycevic, who agrees to show her where her sister died. Along the way, madness ensues and Lena discovers that Ray and a sidekick actually covered up her sisters death. This was thrilling and fast paced and I read it in one sitting. Really well done and loved it, the twist were great and didn’t guess many. I’m pretty sure the me. In this story were all crazy but hey who am I to judge!

This was my first book by Taylor Adams and at first it was utterly thrilling but as the story went on, it got very unrealistic and a little repetitive. Not my favorite read, but I would read more by this author.

Binge worthy even if a tad slow. Another goosebump filled ride with a strong female lead. Atmospheric and edge of your seat thrill ride.

Suspenseful, fast-paced, and tons of twists! Enjoyable, but the book lost its momentum in the middle. Too many side stories and too much repetition slowed the pacing to a crawl. But then things picked up again for a wild ending! Overall, I was ready for a gripping, edge-of-my-seat thriller that would hook me from cover to cover. Decent read, but not the nail biter I was hoping for.

Highly disappointing.

This review is going to contain “spoilers”, so don’t read it if you want to avoid any information.

Hairpin Bridge is a book about a girl who goes after answers in her sisters death- which isn’t out of the ordinary I would say. However, Lena writes a story along the way of what happened to Cambry and it just felt kinda weird. Like you don’t know what happened so what are you writing for; where are you getting these ideas?

As far as a thriller this book seriously missed the mark. There was one detail towards the end that was a bit shocking, but that’s it. Everything else was fairly low key and spelled out for you from the start.

I enjoyed this fast paced action packed book! Yes, the plot is a little ridiculous, but it kept me entertained and kept me reading page after page to figure out the ending. Taylor Adams never disappoints!
Thank you to netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Where do I start with this one..

I did not read "No Exit" by Taylor Adams, but had heard favorable reviews, so I was excited to read Hairpin Bridge. However..

Dare I say this is the worst thriller I have read all year, topping "The Maidens." The plot was utterly ridiculous, first of all. Incredibly unrealistic. While some novels can create a thrilling, fun setting in the space of one spot, this wasn't done here - it was BORING. The dialogue was absolutely atrocious, and looking at the number of books Adams has written, I'm truly shocked they wrote the monstrosity that was this back and forth between characters. Despite me being a former member of law enforcement, I'm all for a cop being bad for the sake of an interesting plot, but this was just about the most unbelievable police officer I've ever seen written.

The italicized chapters written for the dead sister just got on my nerves, but that's a technical issue. I would have overlooked that if the book was good, but it was just.. bad.

Review to follow on bookstagram. I think this author can produce more based on their past work, but this was simply dreadful.

📔📔📔📔📔 5/5

I’ve been waiting a while for a new book from Taylor Adams but this one was def worth the wait!

Three months ago, Lena’s estranged twin sister drove to a remote bridge in Montana, exited her car, and jumped two hundred feet to her death. She left behind a vague suicide note and no answers.

Lena suspects murder. Armed with an audio recorder, she travels to that very bridge to interview the highway patrolman who allegedly discovered her sister's body - and catch him in an incriminating lie. But as her twin's fateful last hours come into focus, Lena's search for the truth turns into a harrowing, tooth-and-nail fight for her own survival - and one that will test everything she thought she knew about her sister.

She wants the truth. Even if it costs her life.

Adams has always managed to perfectly entwine the thrills and suspense of an high impact action with the nuances and slow burn of a psychological horror and that’s what I love so much about his books.

He is the king of pacing and knows exactly how to hook and entertain his readers just when they need it and Hairpin Bridge was no exception.

A story of revenge, betrayal, family relationships and the devastation and unanswered questions left behind after a death, Adams expertly navigates the journey Lena goes on to find the truth about her sister’s passing.

At times haunting, and at times edge of the seat nail bitingingly tense this was a whirlwind adventure that I felt I experienced first hand, right with Lena and Cambry. A fantastic read with so many twists and turns, surprises and revelations, I couldn’t put it down!

The sad thing now is, how long do I have to wait for another one Mr Adams?

This had potential but it was overwrought with tropes, highly repetitive and a chore to trudge through. Two stars for me.
