The writing in Hairpin Bridge is very different than in Adams other novel, No Exit. While I enjoyed the story, I didn't find it as compelling as No Exit, and I was rushing to finish.

The details were gory and the story was comprised of a lot of dialogue between two characters (Lena and Raycevic). It was tedious to read and I found myself skipping over parts where Lena was writing to her dead sister.

I liked the mystery and the twists in this novel, but I felt like it lacked something...I'm not sure what. I feel like between the past flashbacks, the diary/blog entries, and the different viewpoints, it had too much going on.

Adams is always good for a gory thriller, and this one definitely meets that criteria, but it was a bit of a letdown from No Exit.

Taylor Adams did it again! This book is fast paced and terrifying at times. I guessed the twist kind of early in but it was still a crazy ride.

I did not enjoy this book, I found myself skimming through the majority of the book. The flashbacks between Lena and her twin sister Cambry did not flow well for me and the plot was very predictable.

Hairpin Bridge was a solid 4 stars and a wild ride. This was probably the most stress inducing book I have ever read. I knew from reading No Exit that this book would have me on the edge of my seat but Taylor Adams really amped up the tension ten fold with this latest novel. From the get go we’re thrown into the action with the story of Lena trying to figure out what happened to her twin, Cambry, during the hours leading up to her death.

This book was filled with men who misjudged and underestimated women and I loved to see our main character proving them wrong constantly, that alone got massive thumbs up from me. The plot was fast paced and the twists enjoyable, I did see a few of them coming but really, this book was more about the nail biting, edge-of-your-seat moments than anything else. Adrenaline junkie readers will adore this book!

Hairpin Bridge is the second novel by Adams' that I've read, this year, and ever. He once again delivered with Hairpin Bridge, and once again wrote a novel that was so riveting and intense that my heart pounded as though I were the one running and fighting, and standing nose to nose with a killer.

Adams sculpts characters who are remarkably human, flawed, rugged, and delightfully real. Once again, he created a resilient, yet realistic protagonist and exceedingly sickening villains who are disgusting individuals but are frighteningly real.

Hairpin Bridge was a wild ride...I found myself holding my breath throughout it. There is something so impactful and intense about Adams' writing....and it leaves you wanting more..

I enjoyed Adams' other novel, No Exit. I had high hopes for this one as well but found myself disappointed. I didn't think the twists were as good as No Exit, and the atmosphere that was so carefully crafted and felt like its own character in No Exit felt lacking here. I also don't love the way Adams portrays or writes women in his books, and I noticed that it showed up in Hairpin Bridge as well.

However, I did find the story to be engaging and fast-paced. It held my attention and I got through it quickly. I feel like a lot happened but not enough happened at the same time. I enjoyed getting to follow the story but also felt like it could have been made deeper and been more developed at the same time.

Not my favorite, but I don't regret reading it. On to the next.

I'm sorry to say but this book just didn't hit it for me the way no exit did. Maybe it is better suited for someone else's taste. It's a bummer it didn't work out because I was looking so forward to this book.

Who here loved No Exit? (ME, ME, I scream). I've been book pushing that one on to anyone who doesn't walk away from me. It has become one of my all time favourites, I still think about it on the regular and will read it again soon.
Which brings us to Taylor Adams new book. Would I be disappointed? Could this book hold a candle to No Exit? I had some pretty high expectations going in. I am happy to say, I was not in the least bit disappointed. This book ratchets up the tension chapter by chapter, and the pacing is relentless. It definitely gave me some of the same feels that No Exit did. Although I did not love it quite as much as my first Taylor Adams experience, I still loved it a hell of a lot. I deducted half a star for the fact I was not 100% sold on the telling of Cambry's story in book form, I wish that had just been done as a separate timeline for Cambry's story, with a few things withheld to maintain the reveals later in the story. Even with me not loving that part, I still highly, HIGHLY recommend this book.
Taylor Adams sure knows how to write about young women who are brave and unrelenting, even when the odds are stacked against them.
I am a real fan of Taylor Adams work, I have Eyeshot sitting on my shelf ready to pick up soon, I've already pre-ordered a copy of this book and will continue to buy any new books Taylor Adams writes.

This book just wasn’t for me. While it had a very interesting premise, I just didn’t love the execution.
The plot revolves around Lena investigating the death of her sister Cambry She goes up to the bridge where her sister died with a cop that she distrusts. This book just made me feel icky. The bad guy/villain was very obvious the plot revolves around how the events happened. I prefer my mysteries and thrillers to have more twists and unknown plot points. Lots of unnecessary violence. The alternate POV/timelines were a bit confusing. The story alternates between Lena’s present, her blog detailing what she is investigating and Cambry’s story. The question about Cambry’s story though was it really what happened or what Lena thought happened.??Way too many car chases.

Hairpin Bridge is an action packed thriller that shows how far a twin is willing to push to find the truth about her sisters death. Lena confronts the officer who found her sister's body after seemingly committing suicide.

I loved this book so much. Lena is such a force of nature. She's sharp and just paranoid enough to get things done. I really enjoyed how the story was told through her blog, her book, and also from her and Ray's points of views. The plot twists kept coming and there was never a dull moment. Honestly such a great read.

Having enjoyed No Exit, my expectations were that this would be similarly thrilling. Being a fan of spectacular car chases, I loved the ones in this book. It reminded me of the 1971 movie 'Duel' with Dennis Weaver. That may be before most of your times but if you've never seen it and like classic thrillers, it's definitely worth watching. This book had the same monster level suspense, internal dialogue and suspicion. I could literally see this becoming a hit movie, Cambry in Dennis Weaver's spot sweating it out.

Right off the bat, I don't like that Taylor Adams describes Corporal Raycevic as "ape-like" and "a gorilla-like man" and Lena as a "doll-like Vietnamese girl". Regardless of the characters race and despite the fact that Ray's being painted as a hulking villain, different words could be used here so that the resulting description wouldn't be so off-putting. For the sake of the book, change those few descriptions please. Despite all this I actually enjoyed the mystery and the twists. I'd rate it higher but for the racial missteps.

This is a perfect beach book - quick chapters - tension - thrills and surprises! I am a big fan of No Exit and was elated when Joffe Books provided a copy for me to read before publication.

I think my expectations were too high - always comparing it to No Exit, naturally. I thought it was a bit repetitive and yet too rushed and cleaned up at the end.

I’d highly recommend this for the summer - fun and easy and clever - all things that make for an awesome beach read!

I loved this one. Very fast paced, had me turning pages as I tore through it – I had to see how it would end. The characters were well rounded and the narrative felt believable. Gave me chills. Solid five

Convinced her sisters death was not a suicide, Lena ventured out to meet the cop who found her twin sisters body on the bridge they say she jumped from, to find out the true story. Armed with an idea to get the truth, Lena will stop at nothing to have Ray confess to the murder.

Adams writes action movies. This was incredibly fast paced, almost over the top with its action, and hard to put down. There was always so much going on, so much to keep me interested in. However, there was something missing for me as well. Without spoiling, I just felt something lacklustre about the ending.

I’m giving this book a 3 star as the middle of the packs or now, because I really don’t know where it lies for me.

I have the unpopular opinion here. This book did not do it for me. I did not finish. I was intrigued by the premise, but the writing was what got me. The dialogue and actions seemed so unbelievable to me.

Hairpin Bridge by Taylor Adams starts with a bang and doesn't let up until the last line. This twisty thriller is compulsively readable, I could NOT put it down. It begins with Cambry Nguyen's twin sister Lena, traveling to the spot of her alleged suicide on Hairpin Bridge to determine what really happened that day. While it presents as a story of revenge and righting wrongs, it is very much about a sister's love, grief and regrets. The deep complexity of loyalty to family and dealing with the ghosts of our past is very present throughout. Overall, a quick read with a satisfying ending. This was a solid thriller, nothing jaw-dropping or shocking. I really enjoyed the super tense conversations before all the action started. There’s this anticipation and you know they’re just lying to each other and it’s like they know it too and it’s so tense! I read it in a day because I just had to know what happened. But it did take a while to get there. This story mostly takes place within a few hours all at the same location. There’s a lot of action but it’s also very repetitive. I didn’t find the twists too twisty or surprising... of course there was some graphic disturbing content.
I haven’t read No Exit, so I can’t make a comparison there. But this one reads like a 2000’s slasher movie. Recommended if you’re in the mood for that! They definitely have their place!

I live for fast-paced, action-filled, suspenseful thrillers! So when I found out that the author of No Exit was coming out with a new book, I just had to get a copy of it.

Prepare for an intense, no-holds-barred, thrill ride. The story rotates from Cambry’s point of view(the last hour she is alive), Lena’s point of view in the present, and Lena’s blog posts she wrote before going to meet Officer Ray on Hairpin Bridge. Lena goes into the meet up distrustful of the officer. She believes that her sister did not commit suicide and instead something more sinister happened to her.

Without giving anything away, the only issue I had with the book was that I felt like some of the action parts were a little too repetitive. But otherwise, Hairpin Bridge kept me fully engrossed throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed the rollercoaster ride that is, Hairpin Bridge. And wow, that ending was perfect and very satisfying. This book would be absolutely perfect to add to your summer reading!
