Fast pasted, edge of your seat ride. This was an awesome thriller with twists and turns that definitely caught me off guard and kept me guessing and questioning. I loved the unique setting and the situations the main character was in that you would surely think she wouldn't get out of. I loved how unrelenting and tenacious the main character was and thoroughly enjoyed how the villains kept you guessing in regards to their innocence and intentions, good or bad. Great novel.

Hairpin Bridge by Taylor Adams

⚠️ Boy does this author like to write crazy stories involving women and cars!

⚠️ I will start by noting that this book has some issues in my opinion. There are some confusing storylines (too many unreliable narrators), some extremely convenient situations, and more than a few ridiculous occurrences. Do I care? No! Because this was an explosive read with a bad*ss heroine who took care of business!

⚠️ Once the action started it didn’t stop! I read this in one sitting!

⚠️ If this book doesn’t end up on the big screen, I’ll be shocked.

⚠️ Not all enjoyable reads have to be great literature or have an epic plot. Sometimes it is simply fun to race through an exciting/claustrophobic/tense situation, well beyond anything I’d ever experience in real life (hopefully), and get through it to a satisfying conclusion. This author does that well… at least for me. I will continue reading his books!

Thank you @NetGalley and Joffe Books for an eARC of this book, which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Unfortunately, this book was just not for me. I had a hard time focusing while reading this book and found it didn't hold my attention. While I love unreliable characters, I was confused (and then very frustrated) by Officer Raycevic. I did like the plot twist at the end, but it wasn't enough to make up for the rest of the book.

Hairpin Bridge is a twisted thriller revolving around Lena Nguyen as she seeks out what happened to her twin sister, Cambry. The story is told from both sisters' POVs. When Lena arrives in Missoula, MT she meets with the officer who pulled over her sister the night of her disappearance and who later found her body at Hairpin Bridge. Things about Cambry's "suicide" just don't make sense and Lena is willing to do what it takes to uncover the truth. While the book was somewhat hard to follow at times, it is a full throttle, intense read full of action.

I LOVED No Exit by this author so I had extremely high expectations and it was overall a pretty good read.

I didn’t love the main character and I wasn’t totally sold on the memories or blog posts from the victim. BUT I did love the mystery, the small town setting, so much imagery!

I gave it 4 stars!

this started off so strong and i was really invested! i really enjoyed this authors previous book No Exit, so i had high hopes. but the way this story was told just did not work for me at all, there is so much action in this book, which should’ve been fun, but after a while it got so repetitive and boring.

I became a fan of Taylor Adams after reading 2019’s NO EXIT. The intense story to the relentless pacing and multiple twists and turns made it one of the best thrillers I have ever read. So I was expecting a lot from Adams and his new novel, HAIRPIN BRIDGE

HAIRPIN BRIDGE is a story of twin sisters Cambry & Lena. Cambry Nguyen was wrapping up a year-long journey across America when highway patrolman Raymond Raycevic found her dead beneath the Hairpin Bridge, a derelict structure off a now-closed road 60 miles from Missoula, Montana. Unconvinced by the verdict of suicide, Cambry’s identical twin, Lena, drives from her home in Seattle to Montana. Raycevic reluctantly leads Lena to the bridge and begins to answer her increasingly pointed questions. Was it a coincidence that Raycevic pulled Cambry over for speeding only an hour before her death? Lena will do anything to uncover the truth. But as her twin’s final hours come into focus, Lena’s search turns into a harrowing, tooth-and-nail fight for her own survival—one that will test everything she thought she knew about her sister and herself.

Taking place over the course of just a few hours, this narrative is quite focused in its scope. This book feels like a chess game. When you think one side is finally in control, one move and the entire game changes. It’s a story of revenge, a twisted game of cat and mouse, of getting closure. The storyline is an intense, mind-blowing, engaging wild ride full of stand-offs, chase scenes, shootouts, and some; it had a lot going for it.

HAIRPIN BRIDGE is a story that played out over a few hours with just 4 characters. To create a full-fledged story with a minimalistic setting and cast of characters was never going to be easy but Adams manages it really well. The short time frame makes it for a gripping experience where the reader really feels like being right there in the middle of the action. The twin timelines of Cambry and Lena unfolding just a little part of mystery with each chapter really keeps you hooked till the end.

The narrative switches sometimes get confusing especially when it also switches back and forth in time with Lena's blog entries appearing throughout the book, which made the story really disjointed. Some of the twists and events towards the end of the book didn't add much to the story but made the story more confusing. One major twist, in particular, contradicted everything we had read in the story so far and was really confusing. Around the last third of the book, the narrative just lost steam and the action really died down. I found the storylines hard to connect which took away from my enjoyment of the book. The emotional bonding between Cambry and Lena failed to connect as a reader.

Having said that this book ticks most of the boxes as an exciting thriller. From excellent writing, a unique story, and some great character, Adams has added all the ingredients to make it a page-turner. Overall, HAIRPIN BRIDGE is fast-paced and full of twists and turns. If you love thrillers, car chases, and lots of action, then you will probably love this book. Three and a Half Stars.

Many thanks to the publishers Joffe Books and Netgalley for the ARC.

I was not a fan of this book. DNF’ed at 40%. Makes me real sad because I loved No Exit. Will try it again one day.

This was my first novel by Taylor Adams and wow! It was not what I was expecting. This thriller was tense! I was on the edge of my seat like what?! on several occasions. This was a great story!

I was so nervous picking up this Taylor Adams book because his last book, No Exit, had me white knuckled and anxiety ridden for days. However, Dear Reader, I decided to read another Adams novel and this one was just the right amount of tension, angst, mystery, action, and twisty endings to make me happy...even a chicken like me. After reading this book, I am wondering if I need to find a Sharpshooters weapon school near me, and I will never underestimate the power of twins again! Highly recommend!

I loved "No Exit", but this was.. just not very good. The characters felt super hollow and flat, and the twists became ridiculous.

This is my second book by Taylor Adams. I thought No Exit was middle of the road, but decided to give him another try. I think he tried to play off the success of his first book, which was set all in a one night time span. It worked better for No Exit. It did not work for me at all here.

This follows our main character who has lost her estranged twin sister to supposed suicide. She doesn't believe her sister would do this, so she travels to the bridge where it happened to find answers.

The short time span just did not work for this story. It was too long and drawn out. I gave it 2 stars.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Cambry and Lena are twins. They have never been close. Cambry leaves their home to go out on her own. The next thing they hear about Cambry is that she committed suicide by jumping off Hairpin Bridge. Lena isn’t convinced that Cambry jumped so she decides to investigate. She meets Corporal Raymond Raycevic at the scene, where he seems forthright and sympathetic but Lena can tell something is off.

I had really high hopes for this book because I had heard that No Exit was phenomenal….unfortunately I was let down a bit. I didn’t really find out anything in the story about Lena or Cambry that made me really want to know if she committed suicide or not, it seemed like the characters were just glanced over. Their relationship and their estrangement are talked about but not enough information for me really care about the characters and their situation. The story seemed a litt hurried and choppy at times. There was a small twist that I didn’t see coming and I did appreciate the fact that we were hearing the story from Cambry’s point of view as well as Lena’s. This story just didn’t grip me and the build up of suspense just wasn’t as intense as I would have liked.

Taylor Adams' No Exit was a 5-star read for me, so I was excited to read Hairpin Bridge, and though I didn't like it quite as much as No Exit, it was still pretty great. The characters were very well-written, and it was easy to empathize with Lena. This book kept me on the edge of my seat, and I had a hard time putting it down. The ending was really satisfying too. Thanks to NetGalley and Joffe Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review Hairpin Bridge. : )

Holy #$%^ balls...I gobbled that up like a plate of Thanksgiving leftovers! The stress, tension, intrigue and creep factor are strong with this one. I felt like I was there watching it all go down (from a safe distance, of course)!!
