Not one for me sadly, couldn’t enjoy or get into this

A very original Story that is hard to read.
If you want to enjoy this book, you need to give it a chance.
It is strange; in a good way. If you like that kind of strange, that is.
I liked it, but i can understand why someone else wouldn't.

I don't get it. I don't understand it. The book is so full of run-on sentences that it just doesn't make sense. I read through about 20% before I gave up. So, there you have it; I have no idea what this book is about. I was expecting so much more, and I just got, nothing. Wouldn't pick up again, wouldn't recommend - sad too, I liked the cover a lot.

A unique and brutal trans and found family story.

This was an interesting journey from start to finish! Matthew Yoppini has created an adventure that had me questioning when I should and where I would draw the line. It gave me some Tarzan vibes when this story first started out. Excalibur was a complicated main character and I found myself happy that he found his own tribe (other than those of the monkeys). The end of this book felt a bit like a slap in the face, but it made sense for the horror that Excalibur had to live through; This was good but tough to condone at all times.

A great read from start to finish I especially enjoyed the journey that the story took the reader on, a well thought out and written novel.

I did not expect to not enjoy it as I thought but I didn't love it either.
it did get my attention with the idea of the book but the storytelling tho? not really.

I do not hate it but I do not love it. I love the charactors and the whole he has entered a place thats like another world. But its not something will read over and over.

Definitely a weird book full of metaphors and at times just randomness.

You can’t bring them back by Matthew Yoppini starts off right away with our main character Excalibur running away from home. Off the back the first thing I noticed is this books pacing is ridiculously fast paced. Half the time I’d be trying to get an understanding of what was going on or if certain things have any significance to the main character. And boom now we are in a completely different location/setting and the plot has now taken a complete 180. Im telling you I was definitely not prepared for half the stuff that goes on in this book. I felt like I was reading multiple different books all the time with how the plot was progressing. This books writing was very spontaneous and all over the place just making it overall hard to read that I could only get through 30% of it because it was just hard to understand what was going on half the time.

Overall If you want something weird to read and to take you on a trip this is the book for you. And to the author although this book wasn’t for me and I felt the writing was all over the place keep on writing man and I hope from here you only improve.

DNF! I thought this book was going to go in a different direction than it did. I like the idea that we get to see inside Excalibur's thoughts, but this was everywhere. I couldn't fully grasp what was going on at times because the scenes changed quite fast. Gave this a 2 star rating because I did not finish it.

I sadly had to dnf this around 30% in.

I didn't feel a connection to the book or the character, who's name you will definitely learn since it is said almost every other paragraph. I loved the concept of it being about a boy running away from his abusive home, but not much made sense to me. It was very jumpy, and once something was happening, something else would happen that had nothing to do with it.

I was expecting something more dark and with more angst. This will be for other readers, I am sadly not one of them.

3 starts, because I did not make it through and wouldn't want to drag down an average for my doing.

The moment they start talking in Excalibur head I was so far away of the story.
I didn't expect that and for that I couldn't finish it.
I leave the book at 25% because I wanted to give it an opportunity, but this is full of metaphors and fantasy and weird stuff that aren't my type of book. Not only that, but I thought it was going to be kind of dark and angst, maybe realistic, but the search for the meaning of family is very introspective, and I'm not a reader for this book.
