This was the last Riley Sager book I had to read and I have yet to rate one of his books less than four stars. Well it seems I have saved the worst for last as I just found this book so disappointing. I had heard mixed reviews before reading but then I do find Sager's books are divisive. Personally I usually love them but unfortunately not this one. It was slow, muddled and anticlimactic so rather than a tense atmospheric read which I normally expect it was a literary car crash. Sager is the master of creating likeable unreliable narrators but with Charlie she was beyond unreliable which made things far too confusing to follow. This is the second book that I have read recently with a girl stuck in a car with a serial killer premise and neither hit the mark. In this instance I was desperate for Sager to turn things round and shock me but instead I despaired as he took me on detours instead which amounted to even more disappointment. One small saving grace was the movie references littered through the story but even that was enough to save it and despite being set in the 90s it really could have been set any time as there was very little reference to it. If you are looking for a fantastically gripping trapped with a serial killer story this is not it and may I suggest you look for Intensity by Dean Koontz which is utter perfection!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of Survive the Night by Riley Sager. I've voluntarily read and reviewed this copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wow! This was a thrilling ride. While I normally don't really read thrillers, because I'm a scaredy cat and I prefer to be able to sleep at night, the premise of Survive the Night sounded intriguing enough for me to try it. And I'm glad that I did. I didn't not expect for this story to go and end the way it did. There were probably more than 4 different twists during this story that caught me totally off guard. Hats off to Riley Sager for crafting such an interesting and thrilling story.

This thriller has a good plot but it wasn’t exciting or thrilling at all.
It is very much a character driven book. The big reveal was so predictable. It’s not as good as the authors other books

My first Riley Sager book and I loved it!
Imagine being stuck with a stranger in a car and all you need to do is survive the trip. As crazy and scary as it sounds, that's almost the premise of this book. And its so addictive and keeps you hooked till the last page.
Thank You Netgalley and Hodder & Stoughton for this ARC!

An enjoyable read, well written and entertaining. Hadn't read this author before but would consider reading again.

I have a bit of a love/ hate relationship with Riley Sager and unfortunately this book was not one of my favourites.
I found the characters to be completely unrealistic, constantly making stupid choices and I found the plot to be wildly unbelievable. I did not like the main character either, which didn’t help. I’ve enjoyed more of this authors books than I haven’t, so I will still read whatever comes next, but I was really disappointed with this one.
Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Net Galley for a copy of this book.
Unfortunately it was not my favourite book from this author.
The whole premise is a bit frustrating.
Your friend has recently been murdered but you’re willing to get in a car with a big strange man at night?
Also only a small cast of characters so I was working with two predictions the whole time which both happened.
This is a quick easy read and it’s not bad, but not great.
I was happy with the ending.

"Survive the Night" by Riley Sager is a thrilling page-turner that keeps readers engaged until the very end. The story follows Charlie, a college student who hitches a ride home with a stranger after the murder of her best friend. But Charlie soon realizes that her companion may be a serial killer. Sager's writing is crisp and the pacing is tight, making it hard to put the book down. While the twists and turns are somewhat predictable, the tension is palpable and the character development is strong. Overall, "Survive the Night" is a well-crafted suspense novel that delivers on its promises.

This was the first book I've read by this author, and picked it as i had heard good things about this authors books.
Although parts where intreaging. I found it very predictable and had worked out the plot, direction and what was going on very early on which unfortunately meant there was no suspense and lost interest.
If i hadn't predicted and see the plot i would have really enjoyed this, and unfortunately the review wasnt really a reveal for me as i expected.
I will give Riley Sagers other books a try.

Survive the Night follows film student Charlie as she flees college after the murder of her best friend. Naturally enough with the killer still at large you think the best idea would be to hitch a ride home with a stranger rather than wait for your boyfriend, obviously? And this my friends is only the absolute tip of the iceberg when it comes to the illogical and farcical rationale in this book. I love to hate a character but omg by the end of this book I wanted to kill Charlie myself. Don't get me wrong despite the avalanche of bizarre non sensical plot twists, I had to keep reading.
What I Liked
• The constant bewilderment wondering wtf was going to happen next
• The 90s movie and music references
• The eerie creepy and ominous feeling
What I Disliked
• Charlie! This girl...I just can't
• The complete lack of sense or logic or believability
• Author's use of mental illness
I've read Home Before Dark and The Last Time I Lied and really enjoyed those, so I won't let it put me off picking up another Riley Sager book but this one was definitely not for me.
2.5/5 rounded up purely for the fact I needed to keep reading until the end.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me this ARC
I felt this book was really slow and didn’t pick up at all, I felt it dragged on and I kept becoming disinterested in the book which I’m so upset about because I know so many people love it

I really couldn’t get on board with this book unfortunately. Did not finish at around 60%, was just too frustrating

Love the way this author uses horror influences to build these extremely clever stories - creepy and brilliant and I can't wait for the next one.

A thrilling page turner! I have been wanting to read this book for so long. It has very mixed reviews, but I enjoyed it. It was entertaining, fast paced and twisty. Charlie was a little problematic, but if all the characters were perfect there would be no story! It was something different to read and I read it so quickly.

I love Riley Sager. I've read all of his books and this one did not disappoint! I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put it down!

I read this book a while ago but even now I think about it. I really enjoyed the plot, it was really creative and unpredictable. It had some good twists and turns that kept you guessing what was going to happen. *slight spoiler* I also love it when books have a flash forward section at the end of the book, it really completes the story in my eyes. I look forward to reading more from this author!

Another amazing book from Riley sager had me gripped from the start and had me second guessing throughout.

I'm quite the fan of Riley Sagar and Survive the Night is no different, its tense and gripping throughout. Often making the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.

I am a huge lover of this authors books and was so excited for this one, it did not disappoint at all. This author has such a talent for writing fast paced thrillers with unforeseen plot twists and this was no different. Another fantastic read from this author

This book just wasn't for me. I didn't really feel any tension, and the MC just annoyed me with some of the decisions she made.
