Beautifully illustrated with images that warm and delight the soul. You can't help but love the protagonist. Often in life it seems we're all so busy rushing that we don't get chance to slow things down and be mindful. However, with Mr Sloth in tow there is only going to be one speed! A great books for children of all ages with a great life lesson.

Exactly what it says on the tin. A feel good book with likeable, warm characters and a message linked to the importance of mindfulness. The main character is in constant motion, whereas the sloth goes at a slower pace, appreciating life as they go along. The contrast of the two characters show there is more to life than just speed. Delightful images throughout, and top tips at the end.

A good book for a parent who has as child always on the go but doesn't take the time to finish something fully. A good read for a EYFS/Year 1 teacher as part of a PSHE lesson. Limited scope to develop of a sequence of lessons around as part of English or opportunities for inference as part of guided/shared reading.

🦥 Mindful Mr Sloth is a wonderfully warm and witty story about the importance of taking some time to slow down and appreciate what's around you. This book bursts with wisdom, friendship and fun.

Fast is great, but it's good to be mindful of the here and now too.

This is a lovely story encouraging children to slow down, be calm and appreciate the smaller things in life.
Sasha is always in a rush to do everything and as a result never manages to properly complete anything. That is until she meets Mr Sloth. He teaches Sasha to slow down, listen, embrace all of her senses and appreciate the world around her.
' Stooooop' moaned Mr Sloth
'Caan...you...smeeellll....the...flowwwerrrrs?' 'Mmmm'
The illustrations in this book are absolutely gorgeous and Mr Sloth is so adorable. The book demonstrates the importance of friendship: both Sasha and Mr Sloth tried to listen to each other and compromise which made them great friends.
It is so easy for children to always be in such a hurry so I love the mindfulness messages in this story. I will definitely be purchasing a copy for our shelves once this is published. Thank you to Raintree publishers and NetGalley for this eARC.

Thank you #NetGalley for giving me and my Wesley (son) an ARC for this beautiful picture book by #KatyHudson in exchange for a genuine review. We're so thankful we came across #MindfulMrSloth.

It was such a pleasure reading this book with my boy. We read it before he went to bed tonight and we were both delighted at how gorgeous the illustrations were. The drawings were just so eye-catching and vibrant. My son was laughing so much at all of Mr. Sloth's lines. We both found Mr. Sloth super cute.

We enjoyed the friendship that Sasha and Mr. Sloth built together. They were both so opposite yet so in sync at the same time. Sasha was this impatient girl that always wanted to do so many things at the same time - kind of like most people of all ages really. Then she met Mr. Sloth, who taught her so much about mindfulness.

This book has certainly impressed me - cover to cover! I mean, the cover caught my attention and it was one of the reasons why I requested this book on Netgalley. The cover art is just so lovely. Once it's available in stores I will definitely get a copy for my son. Oh, how I loved the colorful and stunning pictures of this precious gem.

Sasha has one speed… fast. She never sits still and spends little time doing anything before moving onto her next project. Sasha finds Mr Sloth on top of her treehouse, but she has no time to find out how he got there. She has a race to win. Sasha drags Mr Sloth into her bicycle basket and cycles off to win the race. That is, until Mr Sloth helps Sasha slow down be in the moment. Now, Sasha has two speeds, fast and slow.

This is a lovely book, that I highly recommend. Teachers can use Mindful Mr Sloth in the classroom to discuss patience, balanced, wellbeing, mindfulness, and self-reflection.

Oh my goodness, isn't Sasha rather like some of us? Don't we rush around doing things just like Sasha without taking time to see and experience just how beautiful the world around us is? Sasha's new friend Mr Sloth is not speedy and he makes her slow down. Does she enjoy it?
The illustrations in this book are lovely, they bring the scenes to life, from Sasha's messy room and garden to Mr Sloth and his slowness!
The last year has made all of us take a new more gentle approach to the world and hopefully it will continue.
I loved this book, as a picture book fan it really is a gem!

A book about a little girl who was speedy and wanted to do everything, fast, all at once. She met Mr Sloth but wasn't impressed by his slowness. Soon she realises that sometimes slow is better because you get to enjoy the world. The illustrations are beautiful. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Mindful Mr Sloth has such gorgeous art. Mr Sloth is so cute and adorable and teaches Sasha (her middle Name is Patience which i find hilarious, because she isn't patient at all) that there is more than one speed. Not only children can learn to slow down every once in a while, this little gem is also for adults.

To quote the book "Mindfulness is being present at the moment", stop. breathe and smell the flowers, enjoy the breeze. This little gem teaches children and adults to relax and open your entire body to the senses of the world instead of rushing around multitasking for the sake of speed. It is easy to read, with beautiful full pages of illustrations. There are such lovely images that I was tempted to use as my lock screen wallpaper for the sheer purpose of telling me to stop speeding and CHILL. It is a very good book to teach children about mindfulness, the illustrations provide many opportunities for adults to further the storytelling.

We were lucky enough today to read Katy Hudson's latest book 'Mindful Mr Sloth' due to be released in September 2021. Here is what we thought...

Bella 9/10

I liked this book a lot, I found it funny how the little girl is called Patience, but she isn't patient at all! She is really speedy, but sometimes this is too much - she doesn't even eat all of her dinner! I like how the sloth helped her be better and show her it is good to have a balance.

I learnt that sometimes speed isn't always best, it isn't how fast you do something, but how well you do it.

We really enjoyed this book! Sometimes I find that children's book with a strong moral lesson can try too hard, and the magic is lost, but 'Mindful Mr Sloth' ticks all the boxes!

It is a lovely story that teaches children the meaning of mindfulness and why it is sometimes best to slow down and enjoy life, but in a child-friendly fashion. The main character, Sasha, was incredibly relatable to both children and adult alike, and her friendly sloth companion is adorable. This would be a lovely edition to any child's library.

The stunning cover drew me into this charming picture book, the illustrations are just joyous. I adored Mr Sloth and his relaxing ways of teaching Sacha how to fully appreciate the world around her. Using the characteristics of a sloth to highlight to children that it’s okay to slow down and embrace what is around them was a wonderful way to connect to readers,

I also loved that Sacha was a black girl with natural hair, and the page with her in bed with the headwrap on protecting her hair made this white adult cheer. While this may seem like a little detail to some, seeing this kind of representation in picture books is important.

I really hope that the publishers create a box set with a cuddly Mr Sloth with his pudgy belly as I’m sure it would be a big hit with the wee ones.

An absolute joy to behold!

There is no alternative than to give this full marks, and more.

The layout is so clear, the font is just easy to read, the graphics are pure colourful delight.
And it was absolutely great to have this little girl who anyone and everyone can relate to. Loved it!

All kids can be inpatient when young. Hurry, hurry, rush rush rush.
This little one was no different, everything she did or undertook was with speed.

Then she comes upon a new friend Mr Sloth.
Mr Sloth of course is a sloth and slow and steady.

When she enters into race it’s right up her street.
But having Mr Sloth changes all that.

There are two paces in life. Fast and SLOTH!

Sasha loves doing everything at full speed, but when she meets Mr Sloth he teaches her to slow and smell the roses!
I just loved the message of mindfulness in this book as it’s so important for our children to learn this in our fast paced world. Also the illustrations are just gorgeous and appreciated the diversity shown in them.

Oh my god I loved this so much, I think I was more obsessed . This is beautifully illustrated, how can you not look at the pictures and not be drawn in and want to read the story, adult or child. I loved the idea of using the sloth to show children to appreciate life, to stop and smell the roses, to take a deep breath and feel. Actually could be used to teach adults too. Absolutely brilliant and a must for all bookshelves (children or adult)

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

We read Mindful Mr Sloth at bedtime tonight and it was loved.
Its a story about teaching children to slow down and enjoy the moment instead of always rushing from one thing to the next. Something my 3 Yr old could definitely take heed of sometimes! The illustrations in this book are beautiful and bright and colourful and really drew you in to the story. The message of mindfulness at the end encouraged my 7 year old to stop, take a deep breath and listen for what sounds she could hear through the open bedroom window, Miss Three eagerly joined in and proceeded to shout out in mimic everything her sister said.... Let's say reminders of mindfulness will not go amiss with her!!
We loved this book and will definitely be purchasing it.

Lovely book that I wish my little boy would listen too and also slow down a little!
Great story about a little girl that does everything in fast forward mode. Who then befriends a sloth so is forced to slow down a little and enjoy the simple things in life.
The illustrations in this book were really something special - so pretty and colourful.
