This is a beautiful picture book about the seasons of life. An older tree talks to a younger tree about navigating life’s ups and downs, imparting wisdom along the way. The illustrations are beautiful and the sentiment is commendable.

I think this would be best used with older children or teens as they will appreciate the symbolism of the “seasons of life” whereas I think younger children might be confused by the story, thinking that winter leads to death.

I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A truly whimsical, comforting narrative about the seasons of life with beautiful, cosy, and somber at times, drawings and colours.
Would recommend for both adults and children.

Leaves is a wonderful book. I reread it as soon as I finished and devoured all the beautiful illustrations. I love the colour palette and the atmosphere. The story is very well balanced, it makes you think, but it doesn't make you sad. Wonderful work.

Wow this book is simply beautiful. The illustrations are amazing. This book follows the story of a tree helping a sapling make memories before they finally have to go out in to the world themselves. Simply beautiful! Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Leaves is a beautiful book. The illustrations are stunning and the message is such a lovely one and could be interpreted in many ways. As a teacher, I can see so much value in this picture book. Perfect for Autumn but could be used all year round.

This is a beautiful book, both in illustrations and content. It follows a little sapling as she grows, sheltered and nurtured by the wise old tree.
With it's soft colour pallet and gentle drawings this book feels warm and inviting, the content, reading as an adult did make me tear up but it deals with growth, memories and loss in such a positive way. The Tree tells the sapling how to be strong and grow, let go of the bad and hold onto the good memories "for good memories will shelter you from the storm. And the great will keep you warm"
This book feel very relevant in the current world where far too many children have learnt about loss first hand. This book feel like a great stepping stone to broaching it in a way that is understandable to a younger audience.

A beautifully illustrated gentle story revolving around a tree. Every page is a work of art in a simple appealing way. The 'hidden' meaning of family, appreciating people and cooing with loss makes this book an incredible one to share with a huge range of ages. Definitely a book to be read and reread.

This is a truly gorgeous picture book with beautiful illustrations. In the story the older tree teaches the younger tree all about how to live life and form precious memories to hold on to.
There are so many lovely quotes:
'Some moments you must let go
But remember to keep the dear ones near
For good memories will shelter you from the storm
And the great ones will keep you warm '
The memories are represented by leaves in the story. It shows the passing of the older tree (cleverly represented through the change of the seasons into winter) and the younger tree continuing to carry on with life and form new memories. At the same time the older memories live on with the younger tree.
I loved this story and found it quite an emotional but beautiful book to read. A perfect book to share with children. Many interesting discussions could be prompted by reading this together.
This book will be published on 2nd September .
Thank you to NetGalley and Bloomsbury Children's Books for this eARC.

A beautiful picture book, a story of inter-generational relationships told through trees. An older and new/young tree are followed through development, learning about the world and life.

Beautiful artwork and full-page illustration with a moving, heartfelt story about life.

Ridiculously poignant look at the cycle of life, and a lesson in how people have to pass away, in the guise of a picture book about two walking, talking trees. Shuck off the way they kind of ruined that there Tolkien film, and marvel at the peaceful bond of love the father has for his child, and how he takes her through the year they have together – a year that ends with his leaves getting thinner and thinner, but all the more precious. Beyond the two having absurdly cartoonish faces, this looks a treat too, with wonderful atmospheric landscapes for the trees, and a real dynamism with showing bird flight and rushing winds. Beyond its beauty it is of course a book with a purpose, of showing how life carries on, and how, even when a youngster stops looking up to a parent with love and starts looking up to them with concern, they are still loved. As will this be.

Beautiful book about the bond between parent and child and how the memories get imprinted upon us, even after the person leaves us. The illustrations are also gorgeous and the passage of time is reflected in the passage of seasons.

This darling story is about a inter-generational relationship and tells the tale of the memories we leave behind.

I think this is an absolutely beautiful story. Such a fab approach to the subject of growing older and how the memories of others live on through us. This book would be perfect to share with little ones to help them gain understanding and would make a great bedtime story.

What an utterly beautiful picture book. Stunning illustrations accompanying the most beautiful words. It’s rare to find a book about a father daughter bond with no mother present but for certain family dynamics in the modern world this is what is needed for children to feel that their family setup is represented.
I would use this book to discuss seasons and weather with younger children but I would also use it with older children to delve deeper into the meaning and morals of the book.
