Provides an excellent description of growing up in apartheid South Africa with activist parents and how he fell into being a substitute for them when they were banned from meeting others. He left for London when a teenager and became involved in the anti apartheid movement and how activism led to the cancellation of the 1970 cricket tour. His personal story is interwoven cleverly with his political activity. The books has career as an MP and minister but without putting too much flesh on the bones but this is a fascinating account of an important life.
