Thank you to NetGalley and Publishers for this ARC

This is simple a beautiful picture book both in content and illustrations. It is filled with warmth, empathy and friendship.

My son and I adored Lu Fraser's latest whimsical story with rhyming verses about a Little Witchling looking for a friend this alongside Sarah Massini's perfectly paired illustrations make it a spell bounding read.

A very sweet tale of a young witchling who is casting a spell to find a friend. On her travels to find the ingredients she meets a little girl and it turns out she doesn't need a spell after all.
An engaging book, suitable to be read by a child or too a child, with a satisfying arc and moral. Its a good starting point to introduce to a child about how to make friends and also add that bit of magic. The illustrations add to the magic and whimsy of this book. Will definitely be adding it to the story time list.

This is a delightfully, heart-warming story of what it means to be a friend. Little Witchling wants nothing more that to have a friend. When her spell book tells her the ingredients of how to make a friend she knows just what to do. When she encounters Lilly, who has the magic ingredient (the fur of her favourite teddy), will Little Witchling realise what true friendship is all about. My four year old daughter adored this book. Delicately written by Sarah Massini with whimsically, magical illustrations from Lu Fraser.

The Witchling's Wish is an adorable story! I love the Witchling and Lilly and, of course, the one-eyed teddy, all wonderful characters. The colour palette and the illustrations are impressive. I can see many children want to reread it asap. Excellent book!

5☆ Simply Adorable! A Must Read!

Oh my gosh The Witchling's Wish Children's Book, is so adorable!
Not only is the illustrations simply superb the storyline is really sweet and teaches children to Be Kind, to Share and the Value or Friendship.

The Little Witchling was lonely and desperately wanted a friend.
So she decides to conjure a spell, but she's missing one vital ingredient.... the fur from a one-eyed Ted!

So she sets out to find Ted!
What she finds is much more special, she finds a new best friend.

Children will love this story, it had a Whimsical feel and a rhyming style verse. The illustrations just bring the story to life. I know it's only a few pages long but I actually didn't want it to end and found myself saying awww at the end. It's such a feel good, loveable read.
Perfect for a bedtime story. A great read for ages 4-7years.
Definitely a book I highly recommend!

Wow! This little book has it all - wonderful rhyming verse, stunning detailed illustrations, loveable characters and a strong message. Young children are going to absolutely love this book. The story highlights kindness and friendship all tied together in one of the best picture books I have read for a very long time - and I have read a lot! This book will make an excellent creative teaching resource and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I can see these characters having lots of adventures and I for one can't wait to take children on their adventures with them.

This beautiful illustrated book was a delight to read. Not only because of the absolutely gorgeous pictures but the layout, design and verses. Speaking in rhyme is my all time favourite for books such as this one for children.

Witchling needs to wish herself up a friend.
She’s lonely has no one to play with.

It’s a great lesson to teach children about kindness and putting others before yourself.

If my children were young or I’d have Grandchildren by now I’d certainly had purchased this book, for sure.

Wow, this was beyond heartwarming and adorable. I am in love. This was the perfect story for children and some adults on the meaning of true friendship. The story is told in a way that is exciting and enjoyable. The artwork is beautiful and compliments the story fantastically. I hope the author and the illustrator work together more in the future. If they do it will an auto by for me. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this wonderful story.

The Witchling's Wish plunges you into Little Witchling’s world from the first page, where we see that she is happy, but also lonely as she doesn’t have a friend.

Absolutely breathtaking illustrations really do steal the limelight in this picture book and create such a beautiful, immersive feel throughout. I think we all agreed that because of this, Little Witchling comes across as being so utterly delightful, that you can’t help but cheer her on in her quest for finding a friend with all of your heart.

As like all good stories that feature witches, a spell is brewed. But not just any spell. It’s a spell to magic up a friend. A missing ingredient sends Little Witchling on an unexpected adventure, where she meets Lily. And, it’s here where we see even more magic revealed with buckets of acceptance, and then an ultimate decision that must be made by Little Witchling.

Wow. Just Wow. The Witchling’s Wish is just SO beautiful to look at.

The intimate and detailed illustrations make you feel like you are right there as the story unfolds. We love the pacing and flow of the rhyme and though the story is just ever so slightly predictable, there’s an undeniable warmth and comfort in this. With kindness winning through in the end, just as it should.

I just got goosebumps reading this book! I absolutely loved it.
This book has everything: gorgeous illustrations, fantastic rhyme and a heart warming story about friendship.

In the story the little Witchling lives all by herself in a drippy, bug ridden pointy house. She doesn't mind this, if only she could have a friend. The little Witchling decides to make a spell.

The ingredients for her spell lead her to a little girls bedroom where she goes to collect a hair from a one eyed teddy bear. She gets something much better than this from her visit though. As a result of her own selflessness and being so kind to the little girl she makes a friend of her own.

This would be the perfect book to have in an early years setting or infant class to reinforce the importance of friendship, how to make friends and be kind to others. The perfect story to use as part of a PSHE lesson too. It would also make a brilliant bedtime story and I can imagine it becoming a favourite.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bloomsbury Children's Publishing for this eARC. I will be pre ordering this so we can add it to our bookshelves on 16th September.

It tells the story of a witchling trying to find a friend do, of course she thinks of using her magic. But, in gathering the ingredients for the spell she comes across a little girl and her one-eyed ted.

This is such a cute book with a lovely story and gorgeous illustrations. Little witchling is a very sweet character and all she wants is a friend so she decides to cast a spell to make one. She soon learns that it's not as simple as that!

Such a cute book about forming friendships and the innate selflessness and love within it. The rhyming is lovely and very musical, and I loved how the illustrations matched the text so perfectly.

What a beautiful rhyming picture book. Filled full of positive messages about kindness and friendless accompanied by excellent illustrations. This would be an excellent addition to a nursery, reception or year 1 child’s bookshelf.

Absolutely marvellous – even if it was a case of knowing exactly where it was going after just one or two spreads. A young witchling needs a certain ingredient for her spell to make her a friend to get her out of her loneliness, not imagining what will happen when she pops into someone's bedroom in order to get it. Nicely energetic artwork, and a really clever rhyming narrative make this one to share with groups – and groups. And groups. This is a really appealing and warm volume, despite the witch-girl's dark and soggy beginnings.

This darling book is an absolutely beautiful, heart-warming tale, that children are sure to love!

This book is about a young Witchling who realises she wants a friend. As she goes about this, she is taken on a journey of discovery where she learns what it is to be a friend and ends up unintentionally making 2, a little girl and her one-eyed bear, through the selfless choices she makes.

It has beautiful illustrations, that perfectly capture the story being told. It is told in an easy, rhyming rhythm, which flows brilliantly throughout the book. The text is displayed clearly on the page and in parts is slightly animated to put more meaning to certain words, giving the reader small prompts in which words to emphasis during story telling.

A fab book to support young children and their personal, social and emotional development (PSED). It encourages kindness, and explains, in a child-friendly way, what it means to be a friend. This book will be finding its way on our shelves at my place of work where it will find a lot of love and attention!
