This was a lovely read, but not just your typical romance novel. It deals with some tough real life situations, making you think and appreciate the difficulties of blending families.

Overall a nice, if not a little predictable, read. I’d definitely read more from this author.

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

This is the first Debbie Macomber book that I have read, and loved the colourful cover. The story is a lovely read.

When Julia's husband fell for another woman six years ago she was heartbroken and did everything she could to save her marriage. Her two daughters stood by her and their relationship with their father has been tense. Now Julia is ready to embark on a new relationship but things prove difficult when she discovers that her new boyfriend is the ex-husband of the woman that her husband left her for.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked that this story focused on an older couple and the struggles that come with blending families when you have adult children. This was a relatively short book and I got through it very quickly as I was engrossed in the story. Overall this was a good solid read.

The story of Julia and Heath. Both divorced, will they finally be able to move forwards together, or will the past end up affecting their future?

I'm always happy to be able to read a new Debbie Macomber book and it really didn't take me long at all to feel right at home between the pages of this one.

Getting to know Julia and Heath was really enjoyable, and seeing how Julia is dealing with life 6 years on from her divorce. They are both adamant they are done with love and dating but yet a fledgling relationship crops up between them and soon it becomes apparent they both have more in common than just being divorcees!

I also enjoyed the chapters focusing on Carrie, Julia's niece who is determined the new job Julia helped out with will work out and she takes to the role really well and even helps someone come out of their shell.

And the philosophy of Julia's grandpa that things happen for a reason and that it is often "better this way" in the face of adversity is a message that can be applied to life generally and could make a bad time have an upside if you look for it.

As with all books from this author I felt quite warm and cosy while reading this, I loved all the various directions the story went in, especially the ones that had me raise eyebrows in surprise. It's a story of family, new beginnings and whether or not past hurts can be resolved or not. It's a story of healing but also of love and it's one that has left me with a great smile on my face.

Thank you to Sphere and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I really enjoyed this book.

I thought it was going to be very light and fluffy, but it wasn't. There were some serious issues that were discussed along with a story of grace. I loved learning about Heath and Julia, their relationship and their family. There were a lot of issues that were interwoven between their lives that had to be untangled - the way that it was solved was intriguing and kept me on the edge of my seat.

I definitely want to read more of Debbie Macomber's work as it left me smiling.

A typical book by Debbie. A light hearted easy predictable story. It was enjoyable and I would read more books by her but this wasn't my favourite one of hers.

Another interesting book by Debbie Macomber about a family break up and the consequences. This book has a real feel good factor about it and I felt so engrossed in every page as I needed to know how the storyline would develop. An easy book to read and a lovely heartwarming book to read as Debbie has a reputation of writing books with a special underlying message which is relevant to us all. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and looking forward to the next one. I hope that I will be successful in being chosen to read and review many more books.

This was the first Debbie Macomber novel that I have read. A couple of her festive offerings have been on my radar but I think I picked a good one to start with. This book is comfortably predictable but features a meaty cast of characters that so you can find someone you can identify with somewhere in there. I do like a second chance romance especially when there are some interesting complications along the way.

I really enjoyed the setting of this book. I have visited Seattle and the pacific north west a few rimes but this gave me a different view, from the perspective of these characters. I enjoyed getting out and about with these new friends and seeing more of what the area has to offer.

Although I enjoyed reading about Julia and her relationship with Heath as well as her relationship with her ex and her daughters, I really loved the storyline involving Carrie. I would have loved to have learned more about here, perhaps a little more meat in her parts of the novel would have turned this from an enjoyable read to a favourite book.

I will probably try something else from this author again though. I listened to the audiobook of It's Better This Way and I would listen to something else from that narrator again.

It’s better this way by Debbie Macomber is a lovely read like all her books are.
The main characters are a mature couple.
Interior designer Julia jones now lives in a condo in what I can only imagine is a retirement village called the heritage.
6 years after her messy divorce (her husband cheated and left her for another woman) she has no interest in dating after several disasters.
That is until she meets neighbour Heath who she discovers feels exactly the same as her, he to is divorced from a cheating wife, has no interest in dating and he has 2 sons where Julia has 2 daughters .
They discover after talking whilst exercising together that they have a lot in common and as it turns out more than they know.
They start a blossoming romance but when they make a startling discovery about their families, they question whether this is the right thing.
This book is charming and a typical old fashioned romance but as always a guilty pleasure on a Sunday afternoon.

If your looking for a quick, feel good book, this is it. I read it in a day as I wanted to find out more about the families. It’s about a lady called Julia who has been through a messy divorce and her daughters have taken it badly too. After 6 years Julia meets a man who lives in her condo building and the relationship blossoms. Sadly everyone has a past and it’s begins unraveling. The characters are very realistic and I felt I knew them. I’ve read lots of Debbie’s books, but not for a while and really enjoyed reading this book. 4.5 Stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the copy of the book.

This was an easy to read story about a couple finding love later in life and the twists and complications, not to mention coincidences, when one already has a family. It was pleasant to read and the characters were likeable.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

The story was lovely to read. It’s main characters were strong mature characters.

Julia, is a divorced mom, she has two daughters. After a difficult divorce, she loves her happy single, semiretired life. Soon, her daily routine is cut through by a neighbour, she talks to him politely. As time goes on, they begin a friendship which leads to them having feelings for one another.

Shes worried that what she feels for Heath is "too good to be true". All she’s doing is protecting herself and her heart, and it seems what she was thinking was right. Their feelings will be put to the test.

I was unable to put this down as I wanted to know, how it ends and does Julia get a happily ever after……..

Love reading this authors books.

It’s Better This Way by Debbie Macomber I was again very lucky to read this through NetGalley chosen as I’ve been a fan of Debbie Macomber for a long time now but haven’t read anything of hers for ages. Julia Jones is the character the story is based around and she separated from her husband 6 years ago, after he had an affair. Heath has also separated from his wife and he moves into the same building as Julia. A relationship between the two begins and as the book progressed we see the highs and lows of what happens. I started off reading the Blossom Street Series by this author and got addicted instantly. This is a lovely easy read, which captures your heart with its simplicity, it’s emotion and realism. I couldn’t put it down, you get behind the characters and you feel for them when things don’t go quite to plan, you fall in love with the charters. This book has a whole lot of heart, there are some surprises along the way and with this book you get what it’s says on the tin. Its funny how some books just need that simplicity for you to enjoy them, that homely feel, where the words flow and the story makes sense. You can curl up on the sofa, get lost in a book and it’s like watching your favourite soap. This book is like that, there’s no confusing plot, it’s just a easy read. My last book I read had all the promise for a good read and maybe for some it will
click with them and become a book they remember but for me it was missing something. However while this book might not be for everyone, it’s a favourite for me and I am so glad that I got to read it and it’s actually reminded me how much I enjoyed reading books by this author. I would recommend this book and others by this author to family and friends.

This is an endearing romance novel with just the right balance of humour, charm and entertaining characters, without the sickly sweet-ness usually found in this genre. Definitely recommend!
