I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

This is a good Rom Com and gives you just what you expect from the genre. Good characters, an interesting story and funny moments with a heart felt ending.

From the premise, the meet cute and the building romance, there isn't a bad moment to be had.

Grab a bottle of wine, some chocolate and jump in because this is a binge read.

I always enjoy a "fake dating" trope, so one that involves a fake marriage in order to be able to rent a dream property between complete and utter strangers was definitely up my street.

And I loved August and Flynn and the dynamic between them from their first meeting, which may have involved spilt coffee, to everything that follows, they both very quickly had a place in my heart

Of course as you would expect from the trope, things don't seem quite as easy as it sounds, so while it seems like such a simple lie, the reality is far more complicated which makes for compelling reading.

This just just a pleasing, enjoyably entertaining rom com that I loved reading on holiday.

Thank you to Sphere and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

The Wedding Pact is the story of August and Flynn who pretend to be married in order to secure a tenancy in a building August has long wanted to live in. Needing a place to stay, Flynn agrees.

I thought the premise of this story was really interesting and the characters were likeable too, however, my interest in the story began to wane after a while as situations became a bit repetitive. The setting for the book was lovely and it made for an easy read.

The Wedding Pact by Isla Gordon was a great read. Set in Bath with a fab storyline about August and Flynn who meet by chance in a coffee shop waiting on the opening day of the house they both desperately want to rent. Who will be successful? Or will they both get what they want. I enjoyed this book.

A fun, refreshing read set in one of my favourite locations! Lovely, light hearted read!
Really enjoyable story about two strangers and their journey together after a chance meeting. Great storyline and so easy to read with the narrative naturally swapping between the two main characters. Highly recommended!

Thank you Netgalley

A flat has become available in the house that August has dreamed of most of her life.

Flynn has just arrived in the UK and his living situation has just fallen through.

The landlady wants a married couple.

Flynn and August must pretend to be married so they can both resolve their living arrangements, but are the two able to keep separate business from pleasure?

This is a really light-hearted easy read, with both characters growing and learning from their past.

The description of their fake wedding, proposal and honeymoon had me smiling throughout. And 'bumping uglies' - even I knew what that meant and had to control my laughter as it was gone midnight and I was up reading in bed.

This was a novel I couldn't put down because I didn't have to think too hard to imagine what was happening.

I have read other novels by this author as she uses different aliases and I look forward to reading more from her.

After visiting Bath it was lovely to read this book and be able to relate to the descriptions of the area and no how beautiful the area is! I loved this book and was privileged enough to get an advanced copy of it to read.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

August’s boyfriend has dumped her, rather than move in with her in the house, she looked/admired for ages.

Now, she knows that the house’s owners are looking for tenants.

Only, there’s one small problem with her living in that house, the landlord will only let it to a married couple, and she’s not..

There others that want to live in it and August knows, she’ll have to pull something together pretty quickly or risk losing out.

Along comes Flynn, wanting to find somewhere to live, and there meeting doesn’t go well as she spills her coffee over him.

August, knows there’s a place where he can live into, but for that he’ll have to lie.

Will August get her wish to live in the house she’s forever dreamed of and will Flynn help her?

Recommend It.

This is the second book from Lisa Dickenson writing as Isla Gordon. I really enjoyed the first novel, A Season in the Snow, and looked forward to finding out if her new story would match up to that. It certainly did, the humorous storyline grabbing my attention from page one. This book is set in Bath, a place I have visited only once, and so don’t know well; Isla paints a wonderful picture of the city, making me want to return.

This is the story of August and Flynn, brought together by chance when they are about to view the same apartment that has become available to rent. While for August this is a building where she has longed to live practically all of her life, Flynn just needs somewhere to call home, having recently arrived in the city of Bath, and indeed the UK, from his former home in Japan. The apartment is very popular, but many of the potential tenants are rejected as the elderly landlady is adamant that she will rent only to a married couple. That is when actress August comes up with the plan that she and Flynn should pretend that they have recently married, even though they have only just met. Fortunately for them, their plan works, but then they must keep up the deception. As they get to know each other, a friendship develops, but could it be more than that?

I can highly recommend this funny, and at the same time heart-warming, story. I was on the edge of my seat wondering how August and Flynn were going to keep up the pretence of being a married couple as they got themselves into one awkward situation after another. They really hadn’t had time to consider the pitfalls of the arrangement. I loved both of these characters, even although they were very different. It sounds as if bubbly and spontaneous August was just what Flynn needed, having left a difficult relationship behind in Japan and experienced problems on his arrival in Bath, but I was surprised that he so readily agreed to the arrangement. The apartment they rent sounds wonderful. It is in a converted Georgian townhouse at the top of a hill with a gorgeous view over the city. The tenants of the other apartments in the building are all lovely neighbours - absolutely ideal, so I found myself worried that they might slip up and be asked to leave. As time went on, other potential love interests were introduced for both August and Flynn, making me unsure of how things would end.

What an adorable and heartwarming story, I loved the dual POVs which were done so well by the author . August and Flynn , plus the supporting characters are well developed and three dimensional , they are also relatable and so lovely. August and Flynn had great chemistry and a solid connection , I loved their friendship as well, not something you see done so well often it’s so often just passion/romance. Isla’s descriptions of Bath are so good, I felt like I was back there and I imagine if you haven’t been it will make it so easy to feel like you have. Over, a sweet heartwarming read for the for anytime

The Wedding Pact was a nice, easy read. I like the way that Isla switches between August and Flynn’s point of view, and all of the characters were lovable & warm. The plot on the back of the book really does cover off everything about this story, so from me, if you are after a heart warming, easy summer read, then this is absolutely for you!

An absolutely wonderful read.

Romantic, touching and yet real. I found myself up until the small hours finishing the book - which I read in 24h.

Isla Gordon paints a wonderful picture of Bath as a place to live - and of August and Flynn.

Highly recommended - the perfect summer read!

The premise for this story is what grabbed my attention when I saw it on NetGalley; it seemed a little out of the ordinary to have two characters (practically strangers) lie about their marital status in order to rent a flat, and I was intrigued to see how the author played it out.

For the most part, I enjoyed it, largely because of how all the characters were written; everyone was likeable and fun to read. August was a determined female lead with a very clear goal that she wasn't afraid to go after, but she never crossed the line into bolshy or annoying. Her determination around the flat was nicely balanced with some self-doubt and vulnerability in other areas of her life, which served to make her more endearing.

Flynn was equally well balanced, with a history that he's struggling to process and bundles of charm and kindness mixed together. The chemistry between the two roommates was very well written and the author had you rooting for both of them, individually and together, from the start.

The secondary characters were also likeably written. Callie, Abe and Mrs Haverley all helped to flesh out the feeling of a lovely building to live in, and provided some much needed tension as August and Flynn tried to keep up their charade as a married couple. August's friend Bel didn't feature as much as I'd originally anticipated but she did act as an amusing mirror for August's evolving emotions.

The only reason this didn't get 5 stars from me was the Abe storyline. In her attempt to make everyone so likeable, the author was so successful that I ended up feeling quite bad for Abe as his part in the story drew to a close. It took just a little of August's sparkle as a character away and unneccesarily distracted from an otherwise light and fluffy read.

Definitely worth reading if you're looking for something light and fun this summer.

Such a cute and heartwarming story! The characters are all lovable and the description of Bath makes me want to visit :-) I loved the description of the street and house where August wants to live, I could really feel her passion and wanted to move in as well..

This is the perfect book if you're looking for a cute love story, an easy and heartwarming read for the summer (or winter) or if you're in a reading slump.

Thank you to the publisher who provided me with an e-copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve enjoyed Lisa Dickenson/Isla Gordon’s books for many years now, and this one was no exception.

This story was so much fun. In order to live in a dream home, August and Flynn tell a lie. We then get to enjoy the tale of how they maintain this, with much hilarity, awkwardness, and some lovely, sweet moments.

I really liked Flynn, he seemed kind and caring, though rather overworked! I liked the easy relationship that August and Flynn had, right from the start (though it gets awkward later). I really enjoyed the humorous moments that are sprinkled throughout the story.

I read this book when I had a migraine, on the hottest day of the year, and it kept me entertained and interested. I think that speaks pretty highly of it!

The epilogue finished the story off really well, tying up not only August and Flynn’s plot, but the other characters too.

Overall, this book was a lovely mix of humour and heart. It is written with charm, and is just an excellent way to spend a few hours.

I was given a free copy of this book, my opinions are my own.

I found this an easy reading, light read, set in the beautiful city of Bath.

The main character, August, is an actress who has moved to Bath from London and is obsessed with living in a particular house, even since she used to visit her grandmother who used to live in a house nearby. Then an apartment comes up for rent and she has to have it, even though there is lots of interest. But the elderly lady who owns the whole house wants a married couple to rent it. So August ropes in Flynn (recently arrived in Bath from Japan) who she has only just met, as he also needs a place to live, to pretend to be her husband, and they get the apartment.

But of course pretending to be married is never going to be easy, and it gets harder as time goes by as they get closer to their neighbours and hate lying to them, and of course even think about dating other people themselves, even though they are quite drawn to one another too, so it does turn into a bit of a tangled web.

I enjoyed the start of the book, but kind of lost a bit of interest towards the end as the relationships got a little bit confusing. But I did like all the characters and it had a nice happy ending.
