Jess is a single mum who doesn't really have time to date but when she hears about a new dating app which matches people based on their DNA she is intrigued and decides to submit her DNA hoping to find her soulmate. Jess is matched with the founder River and they can't understand how they got such a high match as on their initial meeting they didn't hit it off. They pretend to date for the publicity for the app.

This author has been a hit or miss for me and I am glad to say that this one was a hit. The premise of this really intrigued me and overall I thought that this was a really fun read. I really liked both of these characters and I liked the banter that these two had. I also really liked seeing River interact with Jess' daughter.

Overall this was a really good and I would highly recommend checking it out.

The Soulmate Equation - Christina Lauren

Thoroughly enjoyable read with lovely characters, it was a super speedy book in terms of plot pace, which I loved. There was not a dull moment throughout, and great chemistry between River and Jess. This is only the second book I have read by this author (the first being The Un-Honeymooners) and I will 100% be reading more of their work in the future, as the books seem to be perfect escapism for me.

This was such a flawless beautiful read that I fell in love with.
It was fun and flirty, full of witty banter and tons of chemistry. Loved it.

Sadly, this was not for me.

I wanted to read this because of the author, that I've seen mentioned a lot.

I know this is supposed to be sweet, fun and romantic, which is what a lot of people think it was, but I just found it so very boring.

I didn't enjoy it at all, but I'm not sure why. Usually, there are a lot of things that annoys me, which was bot the case with this. It was just that the things that were so clearly meant to be romantic, sweet and fun, just made it even less romantic, sweet and fun for me, which is just me, and nothing anyone can do anything about ...

I kind of liked Jess' character, but not any of the the other characters. Or maybe Jess' grandparents.

Giving it 2 stars, because I can't really say there was anything I disliked about it, even though there weren't anything I particularly liked about it either.

I really loved the characters in this book. I thought they were fun and the romance was believable. I really liked the concept of this book and thought it was explained really well. The more I read from this author duo the more I want to read.

I loved the family dynamic too, and the importance placed on each member of the family.

I loved literally every single thing about this book and was hooked pretty much from the second chapter! Whenever I wasn't reading, Jess and River were on my mind and I wanted to get back to the book.

In fact I'm not sure why it had to end, I was enjoying it so much.

I loved the rather nerdy natures of River and Jess, and it somehow doesn't surprise me that they had such a great match on River's DNA matching service.

River is utterly gorgeous, and as you get to know him, he warms up to be a totally fabulous person too, and I would have happily taken him off Jess's hands!

Jess on the other hand wasn't looking for love, she has her daughter Juno to prioritise, but submitted a sample for analysis affter a bad day and wasn't expecting the result that came up.

There is fair bit of science, and the thought behind just what is being calculated and it sounded fascinating, what I could follow of it. In addition Jess is a statistician so there are a fair few stats in the book. While Juno has a fabulous inquisitive mind, and asks great questions and has great facts!

I loved Jess's best friend Flick, who is a romance novelist, and is always so supportive and encouraging of Jess.

And that's before you take into account the rest of Jess' family, some very lovely, one very cute, and one downright nasty!

Once again Christina Lauren has produced a truly fabulous book. They are so talented especially at writing chemistry that was trying to overheat my poor kindle,. It was so blatant you could feel it from here - I loved it!

Thank you to Piatkus and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Synopsis:
Jess is a single mum. She goes for coffee regularly and always sees a grumpy man at the same time every day. Fairly normal right? But the man turns out to be the founder of a new dating phenomenon called GeneticAlly... and Jess' life is about to turn upside down!

My thoughts:
If you liked The One by John Marrs, this is like a less heavy version of that - more romance and less violence 😂

I love concepts like this, I think it's super interesting for a story and there are so many possible angles to take. Jess is an absolute superwoman, so I spent the whole book rooting for her success and happiness ☺

Her daughter was also hilarious and a lovely character, I was always chuckling at her! What a little sweetheart.

I have never picked up a Christina Lauren book I didn't love and this one was no exception.

I quickly fell in love with these characters and this story. The idea of this DNA dating app bringing people together is just amazing and the fact that its enemies to lovers is even better.

I honestly recommend this to any romance lover!!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A smart & sexy romance. I loved the science element! It's a fun, enjoyable read. I liked the characters and found the plot engaging. It wasn't full of drama and angst!

Loved this. A strong relatable female character with a career in STEM. A Pride and Prejudice type storyline between the two love interests. Some interesting views on love and genetics. Basically a good recipe for an original rom-com novel that kept me intrigued and wanting to keep reading.

Yet another highly rated author just not delivering for me.
I didn't get it. The connection with the characters, the plot. Feel like I read a different book!

This is all I’ve come to expect from Christina Lauren’s books: great set of characters, off-the-charts chemistry and a decent amount of messy complications to spice everything up!

Even though Jess & River are not one of my favorite CH’s couples (Josh and Hazel are!) they were cute together, and the Genetically plot was interesting enough to keep me hooked.

I absolutely adored this. I loved the idea of a dating app that uses literal DNA to find your match, and it was such a fun way to intertwine their relationship and watch it play out. Christina Lauren forever amaze me at their talent of writing beautiful books and this is a perfect example of that.

Christina Lauren are one of my favourite authors of all time, and some of my favourite books were written by them (Beautiful Player, Josh and Hazel, My Favourite Half Night Stand, The Unhoneymooners), and this one was no exception. This book is now officially one of my favourite romances and I adore it with my whole heart.

The Soulmate Equation has a plot that I have never seen before in a romance and I adored it, although some of the science/data stuff made me feel a little dumb sometimes. I just loved Jess and River and Juno and Fizzy and Jess's grandparents. This book made me laugh and cry and reminded me why I love the romance genre so much. I fell in love with this book so quickly and did not want to put it down.

I am now going to buy a physical copy of this book so I can put it with all of my other romance books because I know this is a book that I want to revisit in the future!!

I absolutely adored this book! Once again Christina Lauren have blown me away. The characters were so fun and well developed (Fizzy being one of my favourites). I’d definitely say this book is up there in my favourites of the standalones and I’d rate it 5 stars ⭐️ I think the premises of the book being around data and statistics put a unique edge to this contemp romance and even though I didn’t have a clue what half the words meant, it didn’t need to make sense cause it’s supposed to be fun!!! And it was, it was such an enjoyable read

Single mum Jess has decided she has given up on love. Encouraged by her closest friend Fizzy, Jess joins a new dating app 'GeneticAlly' which claims to find you the one using DNA matches. Jess ends up with the company's highest compatibility score of 98%, matching with Dr Pena, the company's founder, who is not her type. The company then give Jess a financial offer she cannot refuse and she starts getting to know her match.

This was an easy and quick read. The fake dating trope gave the book a fun element and the authors made me laugh throughout. I liked Jess's character and her back story although I didn't find the other characters really developed that much. I also felt a little indifferent about the enemies to lovers trope as this developed very quickly and the plot was quite predictable.

I did like reading this book and it is definitely a light hearted and fun read. I've read The Unhoneymooner's by Christina Lauren which I did prefer however, still recommend this book for anyone who enjoys 'chick-lit' or an easy, enjoyable read.

A huge thank you to Netgalley, Little Brown and Book Group UK, and Piatkus for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest and unedited feedback.

I will always say that Christina Lauren have a way of writing books that simply don't feel like reading. The characters they create are more than those on a page, they are a friend from college, or a cousin at a family event, they're people tangibly known with our world's and there is something glorious about that. Their dialgoue, as always, stood out as being superlative, flowing with humour and emotion and genuine cadence. For a book about a single mother, they did not write the child out for convenience, nor write a simple life for that person, it was at times gritty and hard, but that ultimately sewed together a narrative that hooked me completely.

I devoured it in one go, simply brilliant!

Thank you so much to Netgalley and the oublishers for this e-arc!

Things I hate in books:

1) fake dating
2) enemies to lovers

Buuuut I must admit the love interest in this book was pretty decent. I also enjoyed the plot with the sciencey stuff, it was different from most generic romance plot lines even if I did see the ‘twist’ coming. I still enjoyed it! i loved juno, she was adorable and the mother daughter relationship was absolute goals!

I’m not sure what happened but I think my kindle copy was somehow completely mixed up. What I read just didn’t make sense, pages were jumping from one thing to something completely different that I know couldn’t be the actual story. This is the first time this has ever happened to me but I obviously can’t review the book. I will say that even though it didn’t make sense as a whole, everything I read individually I enjoyed (ignoring the confusion I had). The writing style had me hooked from the first paragraph so I’m disappointed I couldn’t continue with it. I will be buying myself a copy of the book though and I’ll review on other sites once I’ve finished.

As I wasn’t able to read the book and haven’t done a proper review, I think it’s only fair that I give this book a good star rating so 4 stars based on the writing style, the concept and that gorgeous cover.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
