I don't know who the intended audience is for this book, but it isn't me. This was too much slasher gore and kinks that I'm very not into for me. The narrative skips around a lot in both character and timeline, which was annoying and difficult to follow.

A huge thank you to the author and the publisher for providing an e-ARC via NetGalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

An engrossing story of three men and how their worlds will collide, with sp much action and tension that you'll be tempted to read in one sitting. Max Cutler will leave the Secret Service to found an investigative business that will focus on those persons who are missing from cruise ships. Current cases are investigated by a mixed bag of departments with little resolution, Max will change that. His sister is one of the missing person cases.

there are 3 distinct characters in this book. How their stories meld into one twisted investigation makes an excellent read.

I enjoyed this book. It’s funny how it was able to stick with me. I started reading this book Back in May, got away from reading for quite some time yet I still had this book with me when I picked it back up to finish it.

I liked the premise of this novel, a serial killer on cruise ships. However, the multiple characters, timelines and violence became confusing and I failed to finish.

Started off at a nice pace. Somewhere along the way the book didn't know what genre it wanted to be. That's not a bad thing when done correctly. Msin characters didn't do anything for me. I connected more with the secondary characters. I'm sure there's an audience for thus book, unfortunately, it wasn't for me.

The story confused me for a while because there were three storylines going and I didn't know where it would take me. The character, Sebastian was a very lonely figure and I felt empathy for him. But, as the story developed, Sebastian became such a creepy character. Honestly, he scared me too death! Once all three storylines came together, I couldn't put the book down! A lot of thrills and chills, suspense and drama!

Thank you #David Evans and #NetGalley for A/C!

The plotlines felt new/different to what I am used to. But this was the only positive part.

I really struggled to finish this book. It took me three weeks longer than what was really necessary

It dragged on with a lot of descriptive detail that just caused me to become bored and skip over it.

The jump between viewpoint were umnecessary, because it didn't leave the reader guessing. Just frustrated with the characters.

Will not be reviewing this book. I had no idea of the load of sex this book had. I'm very disappointed. I thought it was going to be full if action and suspense but I couldn't get past all of that sex and descriptions

This novel focuses on three men. Sebastian Mckenzie is a cruise ship entertainer and serial killer. Josef Werner is a criminal who has escaped from prison after trying to execute a scheme to bring down the U.S. economy by flooding the market with counterfeit money. Max Cutler is a secret service agent who investigated Josef Werner before quitting the secret service when he sister goes missing from a cruise ship. This novel has all the makings of a solid read, but I found it hard to get sucked into the suspense because of the jump in viewpoints and timelines of the characters, and the over-abundance of details on various topics.

This is a review of the book ' Tidal rage' by David Evans. Wow! I had such a thrill ride with this book. It was an edge of the seat, page-turning, and whatnot moment of goodness. There were moments of sadness, tenderness, and intense rage. The hero and villain were equally powerful. This time more so power to the villain than the hero.

The book starts with the background and the setting of the birth of a most sadistic and vicious killer. The victims are not just killed but butchered in such a grotesque way that I may have to warn the faint-hearted to stay away from some of the descriptions. The hero sets about on a mission to destroy the killer in a most systematic and sophisticated way. He makes some of the best and loyal friends on the way. He builds up a network to track down the killer. Will he succeed in his quest? Read to find out!!

For me, the first 150 pages were the best. The rest of the book was about the preparation and groundwork to meet the enemy. The last 100 pages were a good finish to this chunk of a book.

OUT ON THE WATER, THERE ARE NO RULES

On the cruise ship circuit, Sebastian McKenzie is a star. A brilliant pianist and singer, he entertains the wealthy guests every night in the piano bars and restaurants of the world’s leading cruise liners. But he never stays with the same ship for long. And some of the other entertainers have nicknamed him the Grim Reaper, because whenever Sebastian is on board, people go missing.

After escaping from prison, Josef Werner is driven to a safe hideout in the Didim area of Turkey. He sets up his base in the beautiful bay of Akbuk, and buys two isolated villas high on a hill overlooking the bay. But Werner has been followed by a private eye named Cortez, and the premises are bugged.

Max Cutler is an All-American boy: tall, blond and handsome, with a sharp wit and a keen eye for female company. A stand-out student at law school, he is immediately recruited into the Secret Service, to protect America’s interests overseas. Max is in Europe, breaking up a violent counterfeiting ring in Germany, when he hears that his baby sister Elisa has disappeared from a cruise ship in Alaska.

In a gripping thriller crossing three continents, these three men find their fates are entwined.

A thriller mystery story on the ship! I enjoy it! especially the twists! can;t see it coming!
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC!

I really enjoyed this novel and found that I could not put it down. The way that Evans combined the three characters in the plot was genius and kept me fully engaged throughout. The ending was surprising which I really enjoyed and so I would reccommend this book to those who like thrillers

New author David Evans in his first book Tidal Rage, presents a chart-buster crime thriller. A serial killer, Sebastian McKenzie, is on the loose. He has perfected his craft and uses sea cruises as his hunting ground for victims. But high IQ Sebastian McKenzie aka the Grim Reaper or Piano Man makes a misjudgment and crosses paths with Secret Service agent—Max Cutler, who vows vengeance. Cutler is also hunting down a master counterfeiter, Josef Werner.

I enjoyed David Evans' expansive writing style and sensory detail that has the reader present at the scene as in the description of McKenzie's birthplace in Patpong, Bangkok; the smell of liquor and sexual encounters, the sordid deals of selling children into prostitution, drug addicts' desperate search for the next hit, and human misery like no other. All the characters in Tidal Rage are well-developed even a one-line mention of a dog is a visual feast "Spike, a black Shar-Pei with enough wrinkles to keep a plastic surgeon busy for life."

The author has traveled extensively. As you read Tidal Rage, his descriptions of Malaysia, America, Europe, and the Middle East are stunningly authentic. This ability to transport the reader to another environment will captivate many readers who love travel. If the reader has been to any of those places, they will surely feel nostalgic, as do I.

The fast-paced plot in this post-WWII era includes geopolitical information on the Berlin Wall, German counterfeiters in Europe, and the reform of the Stasi in East Germany. I found the description of Josef Werner's counterfeiters in Bad Reichenhall, Austria, insightful and their goal to destabilize European economies intriguing. As did the protagonist, Max Cutler, from his base in Berchtesgaden; he was preparing to wreak vengeance on them.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for its expansive writing, and compelling research on murder at sea. Also, its in-depth characterization all carefully integrated into a complex plot. I found nothing to dislike, although the murder scenes and descriptions of fights between well-trained agents may be too brutal for some readers. The grammar and spelling are English, not American English, which adds charm for this British reader.

I recommend it to readers who like crime thrillers, murder mysteries, geopolitical settings, intricate plots, and a cast of characters. Unfortunately, the adult themes are unsuitable for young teenagers.

This book is based on a very intriguing idea - a serial killer aboard a cruise liner, moving from one ship to the next, the death being classed as a disappearance or suicide. Add to this a serial killer with a skewed perspective of life; a rather weird fetish stemming from his history and you have an interesting story. But add to all of THIS a man who is determined to find justice for his sister; who has access to unlimited funds and the best minds working for him.
Action-packed, vicious, stomach-turning, this is a book that might offend sensitive stomachs but holds your attention even though there are a multitude of characters and backstories. It ends with a massive bang.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me the chance to read this book.

This well-written book overall is a good idea for a story might not be the type of book I read all the time it is worth reading. If you enjoy crime stories this is an interesting read. Once you start reading it gets your attention and continues throughout. The writer has done a wonderful job with description letting readers know about ship life bringing us along to different countries and on the ship helping us learn about how it is there. He does all this while also creating an interesting and thrilling story with intertwining storylines. It is a book that keeps you thinking. He knows how to keep you engaged in the story while sometimes you might find yourself wanting to know more about the story and less about some of the characters. This does not mean the characters aren’t interesting and many of the details are needed, yet become overwhelming in places. There are just times the story might be a little overshadowed.

I'm not sure where any of the bad reviews are coming from here. This was an easy 5 stars from me
Excellently constructed with great characterization and a superb, thrilling plot.
Genuinely struggled to put it down.
Will eagerly await the next one from this author.
Many thanks

Sebastian McKenzie is a pianist on board a luxury liner.
Max Cutler is a secret services agent who is at present tracking a counterfeiting gang in Germany where Josef Werner has a key part.

I found it difficult to keep up with the story as it jumped from one character to another and different timelines without warning.
The characters and story seemed promising to start with but as I got further into the book I found them annoying and very unbelievable.
Sadly I didn't complete the book.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. xxx

My thanks to NetGalley and publisher Loudhailer Books for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Not really what I was expecting. I found the narrative a little slow and confusing. Sorry I gave up halfway through.

This was a entertaining read. The story is mostly told through the viewpoint of three main characters, a secret service agent, a counterfeiter and a serial killer, the plot is helped a lot by viewpoints from other characters some of whom get elevated to not-quite-a main character and others just have the one appearance.

Our secret service agent - Max, is hot on the heels of capturing Werner a serious criminal who is bent on destabilising the American economy by flooding it with counterfeit bills, when he (Max) learns that his sister has gone missing. Without a body and no information on what happened, Max decides to set up an agency to investigate unexplained incidents where people have gone missing at sea which coincidentally puts him and his new agency onto the trail of a serial killer. Max and his team have to pull together the threads of all their investigations and one by one, have the perps brought to justice...

I enjoyed the story, I think if you could imagine the merging of the Bourne movies with a season of Criminal Minds, it should give you an idea of how things go down, as well as if this could be something you would also enjoy.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a free copy of Tidal Rage in return for a honest review.
