A lovely cosy read. There is a warmth to this book which has you falling in love with the characters from the first page. Christmas time may be the setting for this book but it’s more about families and community spirit than festivities. Left a comforting rosy glow in my heart and an anticipation for the next book.

Romantic but with plenty of laughing, tears and smiles, beware you will be hooked within the first few pages, excellent writing and some great characters, with plenty of Christmas delights, what more could you wish for?

A Cozy Christmas at Bridget’s Bicycle Bakery by Alex Brown was a fab, fab read that hooked me in from the first few pages. Read in one sitting I could not put it down. A great Christmassy story set in a small community who help to heal Bridget and build her business up from scratch.

5☆ An Uplifting, Heartwarming and Unputdownable Romance perfect for anytime of the year!

Oh wow what a book. It had me laughing, tearing up, smiling and filled my heart with warmth and joy.  What more could you ask for... oh yealh Christmas Delights and there was plenty of those.

All the Characters were superbly written and I instantly fell in love with each and everyone of them. Especially Henry and Sinead the two adorable 🐶 pups.

Oh and Jack what a guy 🥰 I was rooting for Bridget and Jack to get together. Their first encounter had me laughing so hard I can just picture it now bottom in the air 🤣

Then there's the Scrumptious baking oh my if you love bread & mince pies your in for a treat!
All made in Bridget’s tiny kitchen, on her years old Aga, whilst the waves and crackling fire outside ooze Christmas Charm.

This book has so many Uplifting Qualities, it had me laughing out loud at all the little Antics, but then it had me tearing up at the heartache Bridget and her adorable family face, when her husband passes away and she loses her home, then having to move them back to where she first met their father. It really got to me. Especially how it effected the children.
Watching Bridget and her children grow in confidence and happiness was the Icing on the cake!

It was like a rollercoaster of emotions. But I was Completely absorbed and Couldn't put it down.
This is one of those books that melts your heart and leaves you wanting more and believe me I do! I really, really hope there is a second book as I have so much I want to catch up with!

I quite enjoyed this book, it definitely lived up to its title of a cosy Christmas. I can just picture myself sat in front of the fire pit with a cup of tea and a freshly baked mince pie listening to the sea crash…

Reading this will make you crave some freshly baked goods, especially a loaf of sour dough with a nice thick warming bowl of soup - in fact I had that for lunch one day when I was reading this and it was just 👌

I loved all of the characters in this but Bridget’s kids especially. The way Ollie and Oscar step up and look after Bridget and Flora is so heartwarming, they may not be Ted but they’re definitely helping to fill that ‘man of the house’ role. Flora is just the cutest kid and she had me chuckling away a few times as I was reading this - especially the hole incident on the beach 🙊

This isn’t an overly Christmassy book despite being set around Christmas so you could definitely read this over the next few months quite happily. (I know some people only read Christmas books in December normally)

There is something special about being at the coast and reading about it always transports me to the beauty of nature and the calm serenity of nothingness. This book captures this perfectly and yet still delivers that close community feel that you get in little villages.

A lovely read that has left me hungry and thinking of the sea so I’m going to go and warm myself up some left over mince pies….

My first time reading this author & I wasn’t disappointed, a lovely story about Bridget & her family. After the death of her husband Bridget knows she must put her children first and to provide a happy life, deciding to move their life to where she grew up, they find themselves in a family owned run down beach house rent free if they can do it up a bit. What better place to heal and when Bridgett is baking her worries don’t feel so bad, but can she turn a hobby into a business? Bridget soon makes friends with the landlady of the local pub and she proves to be a very popular new member of the community In more ways than one.

Oh how I loved this book!! It was so wonderfully festive with lots of lovely tasty treats dotted throughout the heart-warming storyline. Bridget and her children, little Freya and teenage twins, Oscar and Olly are returning to Bridget's childhood home of Mulberry on Sea following the death of her husband, Ted. Bridget's story is quite a sad one with Ted dying suddenly and then finding herself and the children homeless. Mulberry on Sea seems like the perfect place to go for Bridget to deal with her feelings, rethink her future and maybe learn to love again.

I really loved Bridget's character. Everything that could possibly go wrong did and yet she continued to pick herself up and carry on. Bridget loves baking, so we are treated throughout to lots of lovely sounding breads, pies and cakes - not to forget the heavenly hot chocolates! There's even a few recipes at the back of the book if Bridget has given you inspiration to try baking! There is a great cast of characters that we are introduced to and I loved how Bridget was the perfect all-rounder who got on well with everyone, and I particularly liked her friendship with Mack!

It's an emotional read at times however, and it did bring tears to my eyes. It also had lots of fun moments as well (who could forget 'Ho ho ho' in the sand dunes!), which had me laughing out loud, and I did thoroughly enjoy the scenes with the dogs, Henry and Selina. There's also some romance as the book moves on and the book is truly festive, so perfect for keeping the Christmas feeling going for that bit longer!!

The location was amazing and I could just picture myself joining Bridget's bread queue, overlooking the beach with a hot drink in my hand! Filled with friendships, family and love, this book will melt your heart faster than butter on Bridget's warm bread! It was a wonderful read which I would definitely recommend!

This is a great start for what I hope will be a potential series. Bridget is such a likeable character. Setting out to start over again, you feel her pain but also her optimism as she strives to do her best to create a home for her children and herself. Kindness radiates from her and there are several laugh out loud moments as she makes the best out of her lot. I enjoyed the setting on the coast and the potential for other stories from the other characters you meet. This is an uplifting story which is a real pleasure to read. There are plenty of festive touches and a real community feel.

I really enjoyed reading about Bridget and her children as they rebuild their lives following the death of Ted, Bridget’s husband and the children’s dad. Grief is handled sensitively throughout and although their loss is part of their story it isn’t sad and doesn’t dominate.
Believable, fully-formed characters and an interesting story that held my attention throughout.
I haven’t read anything by this author before so wasn’t aware of the Carringtons books or some of the characters that cross over from them. However, as this is a spin-off rather than part of that series no previous knowledge of back stories is required. I hope there are going to be further books set in the seaside town of Mulberry by the Sea & will definitely read them.
A great story for any time of year but full of festive fun and mince pies make it a perfect winter read.

I read this book as a standalone as I hadn't read the others in this series. I think that I wasn't lost but I assume that some of these characters had backstories I wasn't aware of.

This is a quick and easy read about a single Mom and her kids moving back to her hometown right before Christmas. I really enjoyed getting to know Bridget and her kiddos along with the local people who help her settle in and buy her breads as she makes their old summer cottage a full-time home.

This novel could teeter on the edge of being too boring/simple but honestly after this past year and at the holidays it's kind of what the doctor ordered.

I really enjoyed my visit with Bridget and would definitely pick up anything with her in the future in this series (which I believe is coming?).

Excellent novel. A story about a single mom, being evicted from her home, manages to stay afloat and support her 3 children. Very endearing book. Characters are fantastic. I would like to visit their town. I recommend this book.

This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. I really enjoy this authors writing, though I did grave baked goodies whilst reading, many snacks were consumed. Characters and plot were strong and I most definitely got Christmassy vibes from the book. It was an easy light hearted read.

This is an absolutely gorgeous Christmas read, full of joy and so uplifting.

Returning to her childhood home of Mulberry-On-Sea, Bridget hopes it is the chance for a fresh start for her and her three wonderful children. They have had a horrible year after the sudden death of husband and father Ted.

The only thing that soothes Bridget's soul is baking, and as she spends her nights making bread and mince pies, she hopes to entice the villagers with her baked goods. As word spreads, she is inundated with orders, and she becomes fully integrated into the wonderful community.

And despite an embarassing first meeting with Jack, pub chef and all round, lovely bloke, she's surprised to find herself becoming attracted to him. Despite her guilt, she cannot help but fall for his wonderful Irish charm and as her children fully embrace his presence, she decides it is time to live and love fully once again.

I loved this book filled with warmth, love and laughter.

I haven't read any books by this author so wasn't familiar with any of the characters as I understand have featured in earlier novels but I really enjoyed it. It had a warm cosy feel and I loved the outside scenes with the firepit and could picture the family snuggling together and starting to enjoy life again after the tragedy they suffered after Bridget's husband died suddenly .Some interesting characters and really enjoyed the community spirit I did think Bridget was a bit like superwoman with all the baking and deliveries and running a home and finding time to knit as well but it didn't take away the enjoyment and I'm definitely going to try Freya's favourite biscoff hot chocolate sounds delicious

I hadn't realised at first that this book was part of a series called Carrington s, but in fact it didn't matter. This was a lovely, heartwarming and entertaining book that is a perfect Christmas read. I'll definitely be seeking out more of the author's books.

This festive read sadly had very little depth or excitement. Bridget moves back to her childhood town of Mulberry-on-Sea following the death of her husband, where she sets up her 'bicycle bakery' since everyone in the town is seemingly desperate for bread. It's an incredibly predictable storyline, from the offset we know exactly who the love interest will be but sadly the author doesn't develop their relationship in a believable or meaningful way. The story is so simple that I felt like I was constantly waiting for something to actually happen - it never does - or to be thrown into the magic of christmas by the sea, which the book doesn't quite manage to capture. I've read quite a few festive novels that I've absolutely loved, but this one was just too simple and predictable with writing that felt lazy at best.

A Cosy Christmas at Bridget’s Bicycle Bakery is the first book in a new series by Alex Brown. Bridget Carrington and her three children have moved back to Mulberry-on-Sea after a very sad and difficult year. Bridget’s young husband, Ted, died suddenly about a year ago leaving his family in a hardship. Luckily, Ted’s parents, who have moved to Australia, still own a small beach cottage in Mulberry-on-Sea where Ted and Bridget met and have offered it, with repairs needed, to Bridget and her children.

With little left to care for her family, Bridget packs up much of their belongings in her little car, her 14 year old twins Olly and Oscar, and 6 year old Freya, plus their big dog Henry and pair of Guinea pigs, and heads out for their new home. Will she and her family be able to find a good life awaiting them in their new home? Will Bridget be successful in her new business in this very small village? And will Bridget find a new happily ever
after in such a warm hearted story? I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!

I always love the books by Alex Brown and this one is a perfect cosy Christmas read. It is not all sweetness and light as Bridget has lost her husband but the way she bounces back from the hardship, with her family the main priority, makes it a lovely heartwarming read and the slow burner romance is the icing on the cake
