After working as a Teaching Assistant for many years and doing 1st aid courses and 1st aid duties, I howled with laughter! Some of these stories were toe bendingly familiar. I found myself smiling with lots of affection.
I do miss those days..sometimes !

This is so great, a true laugh out load book. I read this in two days and thoroughly enjoyed it. Even though I'm not a teacher the stories made sense to me as a parent. I thoroughly recommend this to everyone

As a teacher, I found this book amusing. Some parts are very relatable - others not so much, but that’s always going to be the same in any profession.
A quick and enjoyable read.

Definitely similar to the podcast style and used different font to denote who was 'talking'. To be honest the book was too much like a busman holiday for me.

I had not expected to enjoy this book as much as I did, I was crying with laughter.
It gave me a real insight into the teaching profession and made me appreciate the wonderful job that teachers do.

I'm so gutted about this book!
I was expecting so many more stories about kids in primary school, the antics etc but unfortunately this was more about the authors lives and careers.
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion

An good insight into what a teacher really has to put up with during a school day.
There are some funny stories about what children say and do in school but it's also the bureaucracy and paperwork that the parents don't know about or realise just how much there is !
I personally would have liked more of the funny tales but that's just my preference

This was an interesting viewpoint of schooling from the point of view of a teacher and teaching aide who happen to be siblings. Many of the anecdotes were funny or bittersweet. Recommended for anyone who thinks teaching is an easy job.

I started this book in the hope that it would be a school version of "This is going to hurt". I was hoping for interesting and funny stories of incidents that have occurred in the school setting. Unfortunately this wasn't the case and it was more a mildly amusing write up of the social build up of the school.

The authors are amusing but I found the content dry. It took me a very long time to read the book as I had no real desire to finish it. However I did continue until the end.

I wouldn't recommend this book unless it was to someone specifically looking to be a primary school teacher.

As a teacher myself, 'Put A Wet Paper Towel on it' really resonated with me.

Although I teach in Scotland, many of the pressures faced by pupils and teachers are the same.

So too are the rewards! Each child, class, parent and school is different and despite the pressures that are inherent. Thankfully it is the rewards (mainly the children themselves) that motivate teachers to do what they do.

The two Mr Ps illustrate this beautifully. The 'back and forth' style was a bit trickier to navigate but once I had the image of the two Mr Ps as a comedy duo in my head, the reading experience became more enjoyable.

Anyone who has worked in a school, or with young children (eg as a Brownie leader) will find a lot of familiarity in this book!
I liked the format of the book with each chapter focussing on a different aspect of school life from school plays to trips to Assemblies and the different types of staff It's funny & insightful yet the writing style isn’t for me – it was a bit repetitive & the “bouncing off each other” doesn’t work the way it would as an audiobook (I haven't listened to their podcast but imagine it is very insightful & amusing – probably the element that the book misses slightly).
Overall, it would make a fun gift for the Primary teachers in your life but its not really one for the general population.

As a KS1 teacher, I was so excited to read this book and it genuinely did not disappoint! The layout I wouldn't of normally gone for having cartoon pictures in but I found they added to the book really well. Also, I started reading honestly thinking it wouldn't relate a lot to me, maybe some bits ... but it all did! Lots of laughs to be had with this book! A must read!

What impressed me most is how genuinely funny and relatable the book was despite Lee and Adam talking of some really difficult times whilst teaching.
Well worth a read for not just fellow teachers or parents, but anyone willing to cast a nostalgic eye back to their early days of schooling, before it was all exams and 'choosing your career'.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is quite an entertaining book about working in a Primary School in the UK. The title immediately caught my eye as I can remember wet paper towels being used for nose bleeds, cut fingers, grazed knees and many other things.

The authors are brothers, both working in primary Education, one a teacher the other a teaching assistant. The authors provide a background that tells their journey into the classroom, and also rather humorously some of the events that have occurred over the years.

They listy various types of personalities that you can find amongst teachers, students and also parents. There are various observations from both about the way the education system keeps evolving and how there seems to be more paperwork than ever before.

Both of the authors have a similar attitude but they also have a very strong ethos when it comes down to teaching and helping those in their care.

While this is a humorous book there are also some very important things discussed and it does highlight the plight of education, schools, politicians and the ever-changing goalposts. This is a nicely balanced book and one that I did enjoy reading. It is one I would happily recommend.

As a teacher I've enjoyed listening to Mr Ps podcasts over the years. They always make me laugh and realistically capture life as a teacher today in such a humorous way. This book is an extension of the podcasts.
I enjoyed reading how Lee and his brother became teachers and about their route into teaching. The book covers all angles of the life of a teacher.

There are so many funny anecdotes from children throughout the book. At the same time it describes experiences of being a teacher in a typical prinary school brilliantly. As I read through the chapters so much of it resonated with my own experience in school. This is definitely a must read for any teachers or anyone who would like an insight into life in a primary school.

An interesting insight into the world of teaching! Some funny stories throughout and I suspect if you listen to the podcast of the authors or are in the same profession you will relate more!
I loved the title, after 20 odd years of working with children and then having my own this is a phrase that’s still often used!

At times hilarious and other times mundane. Perhaps it means more to teachers and parents, neither of which I am. I would recommend it to teacher friends but I am assuming they are already living this story.

Funny, thought provoking and towards the end reveals a lot of what is wrong with the education system. Recommend.
