I had been looking forward to this book coming out since it was announced so I was thrilled when Netgalley sent it to me in return for an honest review.

I am 100% undoubtedly the target market for this book, having been a primary school teacher for almost a decade. I am also a huge fan of the Two Mr P's in a Pod podcast and of all their social media.

So what did I think of the book?

I really liked it. It was absolutely hilarious and Adam has got primary schools spot on. The bit about the different types of staff almost had me in tears laughing for how true and spot on it is.

I don't know if it would go down so well with non-teachers but I personally felt like it was the 'this is going to hurt' of the teaching world.

I hope this book does well so that Adam and Lee can release a second book!

Following on from their successful podcast 'Two Mr Ps in a Pod' this short book is filled with fun anecdotes and a lighthearted 'guide' to primary education. It was an easy read but one without a lot of depth. The very last chapter has suggestions for easy ways to increase teacher retainment and wellbeing was probably the best from my perspective.

If you're a fan of the podcast, involved in primary teaching or looking for a lighthearted laugh this would be an easy choice but I'm not sure that a wider audience would get much out of it.

I'm not familiar with the podcast that the book is based on but I didn't feel that impacted on my enjoyment of it. This is a book of anecdotes from two primary school teachers that covers their experience in the British education system. It's pretty funny and enjoyable even if you're not from a teaching background. Considering teachers have had such a rough deal of it the past 18 months this gives a good insight into what exactly goes on in their jobs and what is expected of them.

An interesting read for parents but which might resonate more with teachers and fans of the podcast. I really hoped this would compare to “this is going to hurt” in the school world but even though it is funny in places, it could benefit from being a bit “punchier” . It does make you appreciate the effort and work of school teachers and definitely will want to make you a better parent but I did feel it dragged on through some of the chapters.

As a parent of two children at primary school, I was very intrigued with this book. I have friends who are teachers who have mentioned the authors to me before. It was a funny read and even allowed me to look back at my school days with fond memories.

Lots of insight in the life of a teacher and I've always had the utmost respect for teachers having helped out on several school trips (yes I was invited back!), even more so when having to 'home-school' my two during the pandemic.

Well done Adam and Lee this is a triumph. I listen to the podcast religiously, and thoroughly enjoy it and was excited to hear that the hilarious two some where releasing a book. They did not disappoint, I love the way the book is written although either Mr P ICT or the other Mr P drives the chapter the other chips in, which suits the theme and the stories, and really echoes the best part of the podcast. The purpose of the book is a light hearted reflection of the job, and the classroom, I have been a secondary school teacher for 16 years however the tales very much resonated with me, it was an easy read and I finished it quickly. I know that Nana Maureen and the boys families will be very proud of them. There is definitely room for a follow up. If you love the pod cast, the book is for you, if you have never heard of the pod cast but enjoy a laugh with two down to earth teaching professionals this the book for you and if maybe that it inspires you to listen to the pod cast. Five stars from me!

I absolutely raced through this book and giggled the whole time I was reading it!! I am a primary school teacher and already follow Mr P ICT on Facebook so knew what to expect, but I hadn’t realised just how funny this book would be. I enjoyed the anecdotes and relatable stories but also enjoyed how the point was made about how working smarter is not ‘slacking’ and the quality of your teaching is not dependent on the hours you spend writing a plan. I’d really recommend this to anyone else in the education sector, parents of school children and anyone else who just wants cheering up!

Lee and Adam explore the highs and lows of working within a British Primary School. A light-hearted easy read and a must for anyone who works in a primary school.

It was easy to read which meant that I couldn’t put it down and great to have a teacher and teaching assistant’s view point.

An honest insight into primary school life. The highs and lows of education discussed in a lighthearted, conversational style. If you work in education, have children or just remember your school days, this is a book that will resonate with you..

Lee and Adam Parkinson (teacher and higher level teaching assistant) spill the beans on life in primary school. The chapters come in different themes such as parents, the school day, the staff list, school performances, behaviour and my favourite, school trips. Full of anecdotes about school life, some funny, some serious. Lee and Adam explore in the style of their successful podcast, 2 Mr Ps in a pod. Here, alongside Lee's facebook page ICT with Mr P, school staff are encouraged to relate their own time in school, many of which appear in this book.
Is the book funny? Yes. Does it depict school life? Definitely. If you haven't come across Mr P before, then read on. You are in for a treat. But if you are already familiar with Lee and Adam, then it's still worth a read but you may have heard some of it before. For this reason only, it gets 4 stars rather than 5.

Absolutely loved this book!!!!!

I'm a huge fan of the two Mr P's podcast, as a teacher it's always so relatable and so so funny. As soon as they announced they were writing a book, I preordered the audio book. I listened to this book right from the moment it was released, and didn't want to stop! The book feels like an extended version of their podcast. I love the way the brothers banter and interject and interrupt each other when narrating their sections. The book feels so relaxed, and just so easy to read/listen along to.

As a teacher I love the inside jokes that this book offers. I'm a secondary school teacher, and even though this book focusses more on primary school I still relate so much. I think most people (even non-teachers) would get a lot from this book. It's incredibly nostalgic.
I also love the closing chapter about the problems with education at the moment, and all the crap us teachers have to deal with. I really hope that non-teachers read this and can actually empathise. More people need to understand what is going on.

I laughed so much listening to this book - and definitely think that you would get so much more from this book by listening to the audio. It's just so hilarious!!
The only downside to this book is I just wish it was longer!!

I feel like this might be a book that is more engaging for those who work in primary schools, and as a reader who does not work in this sector I felt that this book wasn’t quite for me. I also struggled to engage with the writing style as it was less story-telling and more conversational-style writing.

I was looking forward to reading this as have listened to several podcasts over the years and love the short videos that they put on social media and it was definitely an enjoyable read. It is a mainly light-hearted look at the life of teachers (and teaching assistants) in a primary school. I say mainly light-hearted as Mr P doesn’t shrink from telling it as it is and there are several sharp comments about the current state of primary education. Generally though, the tone is light as the two Mr Ps cover every aspect of Primary school with a humorous eye. Several of the episodes made me smile in recognition after many years in a classroom.
I think this book would be best enjoyed by those working within schools or thinking of doing so. I’m not sure that it would appeal hugely to someone with no direct experience of that environment.

I was so excited to read this. Literally every educator I know is reading it. I actually broke a golden rule and stopped reading another book half way through fir this one!!!! It was very much worth it. I read the book in one day and spent most of that day laughing, nodding and reading parts aloud to my husband!

This is a well written entertaining book about life as a teacher. As somebody who follows Mr P on You Tube I requested this without looking at what it was actually about and judged it’s content by the title. I was under the impression that this book was going to be filled with funny things that happens in the classroom. There is a tiny bit of that but it is mainly a lighthearted take on what it is like being a teacher. I would say that therefore is more suited to those people who are thinking of becoming a teacher or other teachers who would like to hear from the point of view of another teacher and teaching assistant. Although it covers issues about the problems teachers face it manages to do it without getting too political or heavy. I enjoyed the book overall but I just don’t think I was the target audience for it.

I love this type of book as a rule but I just failed to connect with this one a little bit, and that might have been due to the formatting. When I read on my Kindle the fonts used by each Mr P were clearly different but on an ipad in the Netgalley shelf app this wasn't the case and so I found it disjointed to start with although this was fixed when I moved to my Kindle.

I was also hoping for more annecdotes from the children in the book - the blurb made me think it was more of a humour title than it turned out to be. The insight into the pressures of teaching were eye opening (I worked as a TA for a few years in the late 1990s and it has jus got worse since then) but there were more rants than I was expecting.

Ultimately I just found the voices of both Mr P's irritating by about 70% in to the book and couldn't wait to finish it.

What a hoot!

I really enjoyed this book, it was informative, humorous and gave me a snippet of an insight into primary school life.

It flowed well and was easy to read, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs a giggle.
