I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

Instantly felt like I needed some knowledge of previous books so I didn't continue reading - I am providing this review and an average three star rating to clear it off my shelf - thank you for providing me with a copy, and I will not share any reviews.

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience

Another in the Lincoln Rhyme series and as ever you get drawn and you can't stop reading until the end. A disturbing crime and several subplots tangle and untangle until being wonderfully sorted at the end.

I was so looking forward to this book as it has been a while that I have read a Jeffrey Deaver book. This was a bit over the top in terms of detail but it was still enjoyable and didn't put me off reading more books.

I was given a free copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

Another amazing Rhyme novel. Excellent story, plenty of twists. Just as good as you would expect. Brilliant characters and fab ending.

I love reading Jeffrey Deaver's books and this one certainly did not disappoint. I could not out this one down and was gripped until the last page. Highly recommend this.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for approving me for this book.

I felt the writing was done well in this book but there was just something missing for me and I couldn't get into it and enjoy it as much as I hoped I would.

It always puts you at ease when you read a book where peoples can creep into your house at night no matter what protection you have.
Enjoyable read.

Received as ARC from harpercollins, with thanks.

Jeffery did not disappoint, I have been looking fireside to reading a Lincoln Rhyme for a while and this one smashed it out the park. The amount of twists and turns nearly gave me whiplash. Fantastic writing as always. Bring on the next book please

I've heard a lot about Jeffery Deaver so I thought I'd give it a go. I found this okay. The premise was interesting and I expected to be scared but I wasn't . Although the writing was good and there were twists and turns I found that there was just too much detail and this ruined the suspense for me.

Thanks to netgalley

Really difficult to review without giving away spoilers! This latest in the Lincoln Rhyme series does not disappoint with twists and turns a plenty and tension that continues to mount until the gripping conclusion. Another great read from Jeffery Deaver.

My first Jeffrey Deaver novel.
It didn't really resonate with me, I think I'd be better off going back to the beginning and learning about the characters and their stories from the beginning as I've heard so many good things about the author and this series.
It's definitely a case of, it's not you, it's me.
I'll come back to this book when I have caught up with the series.

This is the first Jeffery Deaver book I’ve read, so I had no idea of the backstory of Lincoln Rhyme.
A good book.

An entertaining read! This is actually my first Jeffrey Deaver book, I'm pleased there are so many others! A hooky, twisty, spine-chilling thriller to keep you turning the pages. Loved how the tension built.

What a joy to be back in the world of Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs. The attention to detail and intensive research in Deaver's Rhyme novels is second to none and The Midnight Lock is no exception. What I loved most about this novel, as always, is the forensic evidnece side of things. It truly amazes me to see the CSI work developing and offering clues within the pages of a crim novel in this very unique way.
The way the threads of the novel are woven together are inspired and the ongoing relationship between Sachs, Rhyme and the rest of the team is a joy to read.
Settling into The Midnight Lock was like throwing off my slippers, curling my legs up on the couch and settling in for the long haul.

Lincoln Rhyme is a forensic investigator for the NYPD and his wife, Amelia Sachs, is a police officer. When an individual styling himself "The Locksmith" starts breaking into women's apartments and moving things around whilst they are asleep, Rhyme is reminded of a previous case and is determined to find the perpetrator.

The only problem is that Rhyme is kicked off the case due to bungling a prosecution for a mobster which results in a dangerous man walking free. Undeterred, and with his wife's and others' help, Rhyme still works the case.

There is also the small matter of a homeless man in the frame for an alleged homicide and the proprietor of a sleazy newspaper trying to reconcile with his son. A page from said newspaper appears at each of the apartments targeted by "The Locksmith" and written on with the victim's lipstick.

As you will gather, not everything is as it seems, and there is plenty of politics going on as the various pieces begin to fall into place. One thing is clear, there is somebody out there with a far bigger agenda than simply breaking into apartments. This person has murder on their mind, and it is up to Rhyme to put the pieces together, leading to a tense denouement.

I hadn't read Jeffery Deaver before but will definitely do so again. This was a well-written police investigation, with interesting lead characters and a well-constructed plot. I enjoyed the small details that helped build a picture of the suspect before a clever twist threw everything back in the mix just when the identity of "The Locksmith" seemed obvious.

This is #15 in the series and it will be interesting to read some of Lincoln's back story in previous investigations.

I was sent an ARC of this book by HarperCollins UK, in return for an honest appraisal.

This is my first Jeffery Deaver and Lincoln Rhyme book. Having watch the movie though I had certain expectations which the book didn’t quite live up to.
The beginning is quite thrilling with the first few crimes of the locksmith, but then the suspense gets lost in the middle and end part when the culprits get revealed almost in a rush.
I still enjoyed the read though hence the 4 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for letting me review this arc in exchange for an honest review.
