As with the other books I have read by this author I absolutely adored this. This author definitely knows how to write a fast paced tense story which keeps you completely gripped and this was no different. I absolutely could not put it down and was completely engrossed from start to finish. The perfect thriller!

This is a book which has captured my interest from the beginning. I love how this is written. It is filled with a mix of characters and has been a book I have been unable to predict.

The thriller did not disappoint, fast paced and interesting characters, even though it was slightly predictable in places it was still an enjoyable read.
I like this authors writing style and have since purchased all their books.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for approving me for this arc

Wow, wow, wow.he does not disappoint. I’ve loved all of his books that he’s written so much!! Everything about hem is meticulous and I love that.

I started to get the sense I knew who the killer was quite early in but I followed through, I didn’t like the ending very much but overall a great book

A throughly enjoyable read.

I love the way this author writes. This is not my favourite but it is excellent.

I guessed the killer before it came out. But that didn’t mean it spoiled the writing.

I will need to buy a copy of this book.

I had never read anything by Alex Lake before and spotted the cover on netgalley and thought I would give it a try. I found I was hooked initially and really got into it but then it just became a bit of a slow burner and ended abruptly. I enjoyed it and would probably rate it just under a 4*. I didn’t actually guess straight away, at least not until the ‘letter on the kitchen bench’. It was a different twist in this psychological thriller. Although not entirely believable. Clever how some aspects are woven into the ending too, particularly those aspects about Tom (not saying anymore to avoid any spoilers). For me, I don’t quite feel the chapters linked to the baby helped add anything but it didn’t detract from the overall story.

Thank you to netgalley and Harper Collins UK for this complementary copy.

A really good read with short chapters told from alternate pov. The characters are really well developed and believable. I sort of predicted what was happening but this didn't take away from the fantastic writing and still made for a very enjoyable read.

A tense story that will leave you lying awake listening for unusual noises in the house, just in case a local serial killer has found you! Page turning and compelling (though you might have to ignore the errors in police protocol!), Ready or Not is the story of Alice & Tom. Alice, a journalist, starts investigating a story which could make her career - a serial killer in their town. Very quickly though, the murder case takes its toll. Alice & Tom begin fighting all the time. Their baby daughter just won’t stop crying and sometimes it feels almost as if they’re being followed. The killer has found a new family to target.
Some of the plot twists were a bit too easy to guess, but that's not always a bad thing!
Worth a read

This book really caught my attention and I struggles to put it down. Great characters and lots of twists along the way. The two time lines kept the story fresh and interesting and I loved the way the author seamlessly switched POV’s!!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book

Alice and Tom Sark seem to have it all – a wonderful marriage, a gorgeous baby, a beautiful home. And now Alice, a journalist, starts investigating a story which could make her career – a serial killer in their town. Very quickly though, the murder case takes its toll. Alice and Tom begin fighting all the time. Their baby daughter just won’t stop crying. And sometimes it feels almost as if they’re being followed. The killer has found a new family to target. And the clock is ticking for Alice and Tom to stop their worlds being destroyed forever.

Oh wow, this book is just non-stop action and from the very first page I was hooked. It is not often I find myself so excited by a thriller these days but there is something about this that drew me in and ensured I kept reading. Needless to say I raced through this!

The plot is absolutely electric and incredibly intense. Lake really throws everything into it. Not only is it full of twists and darkness but it is a really gripping plot that made me want to continue reading. There is so much going on as well, I was never bored reading this and could not wait to see what would happen next. This is very intense and made for electrifying reading.

The characters are great as well. The perfect mix of likeable and no so likeable with a bit of evil thrown in as well. They all added something to the plot and I enjoyed seeing how they slotted in.

'Ready or Not' is a thriller that will leave you breathless. I was hooked on reading this and loved everything about it.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for an advance copy.

Great author! I love the way this author never fails to write a page turner. We read predominantly in two timelines, back in 2013 and the current day, which provides a really good back story. The characters were ok, and not really relatable, but this also made the book more enjoyable. Along side the main storyline, there were also side stories, and this really helped set the scenes for further situations. The writing was great, and flowed really well, making this a complete page turner. I’ve yet to read a book from this author that I haven’t liked. I look forward to the next one.

A chilling, expertly written thriller that keeps you guessing but as you work out the answer it makes your jaw drop. I really enjoyed this book and it has certainly sealed my 2021 reading with a bang.

Alice and Tom are first time parents. They have a new baby girl and everything is going great Suddenly things begin to take a dark turn and when bruises appear on Joannes body, questions are asked the finger of blame is pointed at them all. I enjoyed this book but not as much as previous ones.

Woah, how did I not see that coming, I had some half inklings but my brain couldn't connect the dots, whereas what was actually written was fantastic.

Once again Alex Lake has written a truly addictive and chilling story, that had me jumpy when a phone rang while reading it, as I had totally forgotten I was due a supermarket delivery, I was that addicted to the pages and finding out just what happened.

And well this is definitely one of those books where if I say anything at all about the plot or characters there is a chance of me accidentally giving spoilers.

What I think its safe to say it that someone really doesn't like babies, you aren't sure who but there are right from the start occasional chapters with thoughts about babies. And there is other rather key baby in the story which I spent the whole book fearing for.

Loads of short chapters make this rather easy to read, but do remember to notice which character is heading the chapter, and also the time line, just to avoid confusion, as there is a lot going on, and it all fits together so so well.

Another enthralling book from one of my favourite psychological crime authors that kept me guessing and on tenterhooks right up until the last few pages.

Thank you to Harper Collins and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Here is my 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 review of
Ready or Not by Alex Lake

Wow! Second book finished today and my gosh was it fabulous!

I’ve read Alex Lake novels before, the first was Seven Days which made me fall in love with this authors writing.

They have a slight edge to them and are slightly more sadistic than other psychological and crime thrillers. He blurs the edges of what is acceptable and really pushes boundaries.

There were intermediate chapters that really made me nervous, if you have read the book you’ll know why but those chapters really were chilling and hard to read.

The plot for this novel was complex to say the least but was perfectly executed with everything tied up by the end.

An absolutely phenomenal novel!
