I actually preferred the first half of this to the second, where it got a little bit too Cinderella for me. Started well, and Juliette was a wonderfully enigmatic character. Wanted a bit more of that, rather than the romance. Fun and cheeky light hearted read.

I'm a massive fan of Lindsey Kelk's previous work and was pleased to receive a copy of this book.

Although not my favourite book by this author, I did enjoy it. It reminded me of a modern day Cinderella story and made me laugh. It's a feel good story perfect for when you need some escapism.

Lindsay is one of my all time favorite writers! As soon as I hear about a book coming out of hers or one is out I run to pick it up! I love the main character and how she opens herself up to adventure even though her current boyfriend is pressuring her to stay behind and how it opens her up to magical things she never thought possible! Definitely pick this one up!

This was so much fun! It was a curl up with lots of chocolate, wine and read in one night book. Hard to put down and complete over the top escapism.

I loved Jess and found her entire adventure with Juliette completely impossible, yet entirely addictive. The whole section on the songbird had me cry-laughing.

There was more to the story which I would have liked to see and find out more about. Possibly a second book? I can hope! Her relationship with her sister for example and more about her and Juliette, what happened next? Are they actually friends? I actually found the developing friendship with Juliette a more interesting Will they/won’t they story than the relationship with Evan.

OMG a fairytale story for adults!
Fran Cooper is on out of work PA who is offered, and accepts, a fabulous opportunity to be an assistant to a celebrity.
Straight from interview in London to a new wardrobe and onwards to sail in a fully equipped super yacht on the med to meet the celebrity and onto an Italian island to attend the glittering Crystal ball.
After a huge mishap Fran is coerced into attending the elite Crystal ball, charity event, looking a million dollars and attracting the attention of Evan, whom she had bumped into briefly earlier.
The have a fabulous night, but Fran doesn’t belong amongst these celebrities, Evan does!
The setting is glamorous where cinders meets her Prince Charming but for one Night Only!

Loved the recommendation for this novel, and I would continue to recommend it to others. A good read and loved the story, the romance and love. Lindsey had got another best seller on her hands.

This is an enchanting read with more than a hint of Cinderella about it (though thankfully no James Cordon) featuring Francesca, a fantastic personal assistant who is great at making life easy for everyone but herself. Fran comes to a lot of realisations throughout this book thanks to the help of several of the characters who make her reflect on her own life for once and it’s fabulous to see how she evolves and starts thinking more for herself. There were a wonderful mix of characters and some great settings, the Crystal Ball was truly fantastical. I mostly just loved how well the story weaved from her put upon life to the fantasy of the ball and Fran herself as a character just made you want to root for her, I really hope we get to hear more of her life even if just a catch up in a future book.

Just a lovely romantic story. You should never settle for second best.. Yet again fame is not all it is cracked up. I did like the sound of the Crystal ball. Made me laugh about no mobiles. Fran was a great character . Perfect ending. A great read.. You never fail with a Lindsey Kelk

Lindsey Kelk, the queen of the chick-lit, returns with a fabulous new book, On A Night Like This, this autumn.

Filled with Kelk's trademark humour, romance, female friendships, and triumphing over adversity, you really won't be disappointed with this book.

On A Night Like This introduces us to Fran Cooper, a currently unemployed PA with a troubled relationship.

So when Fran gets an opportunity to act as an assistant to a superstar celebrity for five days, she hops on a train to London before finding herself on board a yacht off the Italian coast, faster than she can dive into the big purple sweets in a tin of Quality Street.

Fran's job is to get her celebrity charge to the ball; the infamous Crystal Ball, which is attended each year by the who's who amongst the rich and famous. But it's Fran who gatecrashes the party of the year, where she runs into handsome American Evan, sharing a magical evening, both agreeing not to exchange any personal details. But will they have just one night only?

It wouldn't be a Lindsey Kelk book without some hilarious mishaps along the way; the coconut shell boobed Little Mermaid, and Fran in a glitter-filled crystal ball, were scenes that had me laughing out loud. And I felt personally attacked by the reference to tourists in London wearing 'Oxford' hoodies, given that I've been that tourist - but in my defence, I blame the drenching I received whilst hiding under a tree in London in August, forcing me to buy something to wear! 🤣

If you are looking for a feel-good, laugh-out-loud, easy to read book, filled with romance and likable characters, then On A Night Like This ticks all the boxes. I've been a fan of Lindsey Kelk since I Heart New York was released, and she has delivered once again.

On A Night Like This is released on November 11th and is available to pre-order now.

Thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, for providing me with an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

If you know me, you’ll know I’m a HUGE Lindsey Kelk fan! Her new book On a Night Like This is out in November (one day after my 30th birthday so my preorder is going to be a birthday present to me from me 🎁), and not only that…it’s her very first hardback book! Safe to say I’m excited! 😆 So I was so so happy when I saw NetGalley had approved my request to read it early, and as always, Lindsey didn’t disappoint!

I loved Fran, she was such a character! And the situation she got herself into in this book, I mean, amazing! Who wouldn’t want to go to Italy on the most beautiful yacht, become friends with a huge celebrity and attend the Crystal Ball, even if it doesn’t all exactly go to plan. I had serious Cinderella vibes from this book, but not in the traditional sense, I mean who needs a glass slipper when you can wear trainers right? Way more comfy! And Fran certainly didn’t need a Prince Charming to sort her life out for her, although a gorgeous piece of eye candy is always appreciated, and Evan definitely delivered that.

Also, I spotted a little cameo in this one from one of Lindsey’s other leading ladies and I was all for this! 👏🏼 not only did I love this character anyway (I won’t say who in case some people want to keep it a surprise), but to see her come in and full on support Fran, I’m all for women supporting women and this was perfect!

Thank you so much Harper Collins and NetGalley for giving me my most anticipated read of the year 2 months early! I can’t wait for my hardback to arrive now to sit pride of place on my shelves! 💙

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A wonderful holiday read - had sea, sun and romance - shame I read it while it was raining outside while holidaying in the UK. There was glamour and fun and really enjoyed it,

On a Night Like This by Lindsey Kelk was my last read of my staycation this year and what a feel good uplifting modern day Cinderella story this was.

Fran is whisked away on a last minute PA job, she doesn’t know where she is going or who the high profile client is the only thing she does know is that her long term partner will not be happy that she has taken the job.
When Fran finds herself onboard a private vessel on the way to an exclusive ball with none other then THE Juliette she can not believe her luck but she is about to find out how impossible and entitled celebrities can be to work for but although things look like they are going from bad to worse will she make it to the Crystal Ball.

This is the perfect modern romantic comedy that will give you pure uplifting escapism that we come to love and expect from Lindsey Kelk novels. Fran has lost her own identity and happiness although it is only now she is away from her home life and relationship that she is truly seeing the cracks. Fran sure does face some dramas during her time working for Juliette but these all provided copious amount of comedy for us and soon starts to toughen her up.

The glitz, glam and gossip of the rich and famous oozes through the pages and I loved the prince charming romance that is weaved into the storyline.

This is another highly recommended read by the incredibly talented Lindsey Kelk.

I always aim to write an unbiased, truthful review on the books I have read or received as ARC’s from NetGalley however that’s a little tricky when it comes to Lindsey Kelk as I know I will love her books before I’ve even opened the front page (or the first click on my kindle!). Lindsey’s writing is addictive, the story sucks you in until you’re emotionally involved and committed in the characters progress. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve stayed up late, way past my bedtime, because I can’t bare not to know what happens next whilst silently shouting “just do it!” in my head.

On a Night Like This is like a modern day Cinderella – our heroine Fran learns to put herself first, to say “no” even when she feels like she should say “yes”, to chase her dreams and make the most of every opportunity. I felt like I was Frans biggest cheerleader from the moment she said yes to her interview and left the dull Stew behind, even before I knew what adventures lay ahead, I was begging her not to return to Stew and his Nan’s house!
On a Night Like This is funny, uplifting and romantic. The perfect adult fairy tale that every girl needs. From the moment we are introduced to Evan he seems just dreamy and makes you swoon off the page – it baffles me that Fran could even possibly say ‘no’.

Lindsey Kelk has an amazing ability to make you feel that you are within her story and that her characters are your best friends. I can whole heartedly recommend any of her books, and One a Night Like This is a magical story that all of us need. The only fault I can find is that it’s always over too quickly and I am always left wanting more.

A new Lindsey Kelk book?
Er, yes please! I've been a fan since the early Shopaholic days, and Kelk truly doesn't disappoint with her latest, On A Night Like This.
Fran Cooper is kinda stuck in a rut. On the outside, things look fine with her life. She's engaged, they have a house, family and friends around her.
But, inside, she's feeling a little unfulfilled.
Having put all her career aspirations to one side, to concentrate on her life with her fiancee, she loses sight of her own dreams.
Until an opportunity falls into her lap. Something she'd be a fool to turn down.
And, despite what her c0mmon sense tells her, she takes it.
Thrust into the whirlwind life of celebrity, Fran finds herself as the PA for an extremely famous person, for a short while, and the few days she is with this individual, changes her thinking. But it's that one night that truly changes everything.
I loved it. Like, literally every little bit of the book! I have to admit, there were times I wanted to shake Fran, as she refused to admit her relationship was floundering.
But, oh, the chemistry Kelk builds, between Fran and Evan was amazing. It just goes to show that you don't need all over the top explicit scenes to create steam... and I loved the end!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins for an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

This is my read of the year so far. Thank you #netgally!!!

Frans journey of self discovery and emancipation is funny, heartfelt, encouraging and engaging. Along the way we meet Stew her fiancée, Jess her best friend, Juliette, the to die for Evan and a host of other characters who are either loveable, frustrating or annoyingly well placed to tell the story of grey mouse meets world of glitz and glamour.
Amazing how 5 days away from your regular life can lead to drastic realisations and changes.
Its so easy to fall into habit, so much harder to fall back out of it.

Gorgeous story, well written and put together.

What a fantastic adventure, I loved this story, Fran is such a fantastic character, she is bubbly, cheeky, a little insecure, a little like most of us.

I loved this book, can’t wait to read more from Lindsay Kelk

I will be recommending this to all my friends

5 stars from me 😊

Lindsey Kelk does it again! I love, love, love this book! This is like a modern day Cinderella story and I was not disappointed at all.
Fran Cooper is living in Sheffield with her boyfriend Stew. She has given up her life in London to live in Stew's gran's house, which he was left after she passed away. They had decided that there would be no more working away but Fran is struggling to find work, until one day, she accepts a job for 5 days working for a mystery celebrity. After this, the whirlwind begins, there is a trip to Italy and a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to the Crystal Ball. However, you know that this isn't just a story about a girl being able to go to the ball, it's the start of Fran discovering herself again, finding out who she is without Stew in her life and you know she deserves more.
I love the characters in the book, Jess is brilliant as her best friend, Evan is the guy you want to meet if you go to the ball yourself and Juliette is an amazing character. Fran deals with her so well and is so real around her, even though Juliette is difficult, you know deep down inside there is a really special person in there. Fran is brilliant as the main character too, just the kind of person that you want to be friends with.
As always in a book written by Lindsey Kelk, there is plenty of humour, adventure and I must admit, being a girl from South Yorkshire myself, I love that this book is about a Yorkshire girl and I can relate so much to how Fran is. I love reading about the places, especially the places in South Yorkshire, in the book and I can visualise them. This just makes it that little bit more special for me. If it could be any more special that is!
I am so happy that I got the chance to read this book already, it is just amazing, you must give it a read. Whether you are new to Lindsey Kelk or are a devoted Lindsey Kelk reader, you are really going to love this!
Thank you to Netgalley, Lindsey Kelk and HarperCollins HarperFiction for the arc of this book in exchange for an honest review

What a wonderful book @LindseyKelk #OnANightLikeThis it’s been a long time since I’ve sat still long enough to enjoy a book from cover to cover in 36 hours. Absolutely loved Fran’s adventures and the messages behind them. 5 🌟from me
The perfect amount of glitz and glamour. Gorgeous characters with a wonderful story to tell. I loved every bit of it
Reminded me a little of Pretty Woman

What can I say, another amazing book by Lindsey. From the moment I started reading On a night like this I was hooked. Fran stuck in a rut takes a PA job for a celebrity. Juliette the celebrity has to perform at the crystal ball and all as Fran has to do is get her there. But Juliette is such a diva and is a total nightmare, Fran has her work cut out. What ever Juliette wants Juliette gets and Fran has to deal with it. Throw into the mix a case of orange San Pellegrino and the dashing Evan the story flows beautifully. I only wish I could go to the ball.
P.s I love how Lindsey threw in her love of Percy pigs.

What a super book. Every now and again you need a book which is light hearted, easy to read and offers a complete escape, and this book gives you that in spades with some laugh out loud moments.

Fran is living in Sheffield, in her fiancé’s house which he inherited from his grandmother, and feeling unfulfilled in her professional and personal life, is this all there is? She’s offered a five day job as an assistant to a VIP and finds herself babysitting a thirty something temperamental singer on her way to the most exclusive event of the year. Are luxury yachts, haute couture and good looking men help her find what she really wants in life?

It’s a fun story and compelling reading… loved it! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
