I love rom coms from Lindsey Kelk - she just has such a unique writing style that blends the romantic elements nicely with witty lines. Yes, I am a big fan of Lindsey’s, having read all her previous books, so I was delighted to be approved to read this one on netgalley. And I am pleased to say it didn’t disappoint. I loved the main character Fran, who leaves her life in Sheffield to take a short term PA job for a high profile client, and I don’t want to say more than that because I do t do spoilers. But this had a big Cinderella feel to it (in a good way). I highly recommend this novel to fans of women’s fiction.

I really enjoyed this latest offering from Lindsey Kelly. She is such a great author and all her books are like a big warm hug from your best friend.

Fran is our Cinderella inspired heroine who is frustrated with her life when she gets offered a very exclusive and secret PA job that changes everything. The characters are all well written and I really enjoyed the escapist element of the story too.

Whilst you won't be surprised by the ending (though I was surprised by how quickly it snuck up on me!) you will enjoy this gorgeous and easy read of Fran's adventures. Personally I would have liked a bit more to the ending - it felt like once the ball was over you blink and the book is also over. I also would have loved to find out what happened to Juliette!

Another smashing job from Lindsey. You won't be disappointed!

Brilliant, loved it. Read it in pretty much one sitting, didn't want to put it down. Husband thought I had gone slightly mad when I was sat chuckling to myself in the corner lol

So when I found out I had received an advance copy of Lindsey Kelk’s latest book, ‘On A Night Like This’, I am not ashamed to say there was a lot of happy screaming! After literally being excited about this book from the second I finished ‘In Case You Missed It’ the wait was finally over!

‘On A Night Like This’ introduces us to Fran. Fran is living in Sheffield, engaged to Stew (who she’s been with 12 years) and she’s temping her way through jobs. There’s a plan for her to become a teacher except it’s not her plan, it’s what Stew and his family think she should do. She realises something needs to change so phones her old agency about becoming a PA again, a job she loved but had to leave, and within days she’s accompanying a celebrity to the prestigious Crystal Ball and meeting a modern-day Prince Charming along the way…

This Cinderella-type story hits all the spot and, Lindsey, you’ve done it again, another beautiful written book that absorbs you from the beginning and has you rooting for Fran all the way. The message is clear, don’t just settle for what is supposedly meant to be, be happy and do what you want to do - surely something the pandemic should have taught us all this last year. With lines such as “If you can’t tell the difference between Boris Johnson and Leonardo DiCaprio, you shouldn’t be on the internet” and “Would Terry’s Chocolate Oranges still be a pound each in the supermarket when I got back, or should I have bought them when I saw them on offer last week?”, this is another classic Kelk offering and I LOVED every single second of it. As always I was sad when I finished it as I already want to read the next one - no pressure Lindsey!😊 No question of a doubt one of my favourite books of the year and an ideal cosy read for his launch in November. Add this to your Christmas lists now!

This is a book to save for a special occasion or when you need a little extra magic, because it's so heartwarming and fun it just makes me smile even just thinking about the story after I've finished reading it.

Fran Cooper is a professional personal assistant who loves her job, but has been working as a temp since she moved to Sheffield with her fiancé. Then she gets a 5 day posting working for a very secret celebrity and ends up on a yacht in the Mediterranean going to a very exclusive Crystal Ball, which is full of once in a lifetime experiences and handsome strangers. Yes, this does sound a little like a modern take on Cinderella, but really it's another magical Lindsey Kelk creation, which is even better! How she does it I don't know but all her books are just so much fun to read and laugh out loud funny, and this one is better than ever, full of surprise twists and turns, great humour, and an ending I could never have predicted. It was a pleasure to read and an honour to review!

I love Lindsey Kelk’s books and this is one of my favourites to date. I love how you get so immersed in the story that you can almost forget everything else going on around you. I instantly fell in love with the main character Fran.

Fran is currently between jobs. Her fiancé and his family want her to give up ‘temping’ and get a job working in a school. This gives Fran the fear not that she would tell them that! When one of the agencies she is registered with put her forward for a temporary job that requires her to sign an NDA, Fran is beside herself but knows her fiancé won’t be as there is an unwritten rule she won’t travel for her job. However, she goes with her gut and not only does she go for the interview but she gets the job. She will be personal assistant to a world famous singer, Juliette who also happens to be a renowned diva who has gone through numerous assistants befit Fran.

Fran and Juliette seem to hit it off and spend time bonding which leads to a bit of soul searching by Fran. However, it seems Juliette is indeed a diva as she turns cold on Fran and reverts to treating her like dirt. Always keen to please. Fran overlooks this and does her best to satisfy Juliette’s every need. However, this doesn’t stop Juliette leaving Fran stranded in Italy while she sails away on a luxury boat.

Fran has no choice but to check into the hotel they were booked into and after a pep talk from a make-up-artist does something completely out of character - she sneaks into a star studded exclusive event. She spends the evening trying to be someone she isn’t and meets Evan who makes her heart beat that little bit faster.

This book has shades of a modern day Cinderella and plenty of laugh out loud moments. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

As soon as I see a Lindsey Kelk book I know I am going to love it, and this was no exception.

I am so curious as to how the rich and famous live and would love to experience it, even just for a day. I feel like this book has just made me want that a bit more! Really great descriptions that made me feel as though I was there!

Really enjoyed Fran's character and her mishaps, and found myself laughing out loud a lot.

All in all a great fun read, very reminiscent of the I Heart books.

I've always wanted to read a Lindsey Kelk novel and I am so glad this was my first! This novel is everything I love in a book. A beautiful love story mixed in with a true lesson on self love, this is a perfect novel for anyone whos looking for a perfect novel to escape into. I devoured in one sitting.

Fran is a freelance executive assistant with a lately distant fiancee named Stew. After moving to the suburbs, they agreed they would no longer take jobs in London. But after one comes up for Fran that's too good to pass up, she quickly finds herself onboard a luxury yacht headed toward the island of Panarea newly employed as the personal assistant of singer Juliette headed to the ultra luxurious Crystal Ball. Considering her longest lasting assistant lasted just a few months, Fran has her work cut out for her. After a series of impossible circumstances, Fran ends up in a sparkly couture gown in the midst of the Crystal Ball. Sans date, she !sets Evan and they quickly establish ground rules. No last names. No personal info. Just a fun night as friends. But when Evan makes her question everything about herself and her life, Fran will never be the same.

With equal parts heart and hilarity, this is truly one of my favorite novels of the year. Kelk writes such stunning descriptions of everything you feel like you're right in the story! Her ability to capture human emotions with a sense of humor is the icing on the cake. Five out of five stars!

Thank you to Lindsey Kelk, Harper Collins UK, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Oh my heart. ‘On A Night Like This’ is just WONDERFUL! Gorgeous Rom-Com perfection by one of my absolute favourites @LindseyKelk. I sat and devoured it in one afternoon, Lindsey has a real talent for getting you so hooked you forget the world around you. As I read I laughed out loud, I sighed, I wished this could just be my life! Another of Lindsey’s talents is writing characters that you love and would have as friends in real life.
Fran (Francesca) is another great leading character; she’s lovely, at a point in her life she needs to make decisions and is worth more than she thinks. A job opportunity comes up, needing and NDA and when she realises who she is going to be working for and where – WOW! This is where I would gladly step in and do the job, it sounds amazing. I wont spoil too much but Fran is definitely in a whole new world and it suits her!
Fran is a confident woman, she is not afraid to stand up for herself and say what is on her mind. She makes the most of a difficult situation and takes a risk, leading to her meeting Evan. Evan is a dream, a true gentleman that is amused by Fran and is the epitome of charm.
This book is almost like a modern-day Cinderella, with the magical, festive vibe nice and strong. Tackling the ideas of friendship, fame and relationships; Lindsey writes with humour, including real laugh out loud comments that will hit home with every reader.
On a Night Like This is amazing, deservedly going to be a hit with readers. Thanks to @NetGalley and @HarperCollinsUK (and Lindsey) for making a grey summers day great

Fran has taken a temporary job as an assistant to a celebrity singer. She thinks her life has changed as she's to go on a luxury yacht to attend a charity ball. The singer is a diva and has a bad reputation. She meets Evan at the ball .I love Lindsay Kelk books and this is no exception

Ok, so this book... Where do I start?

On A Night Like This is the most perfect Cinderella story, even better than the Disney version. I don't know what else I could say without giving anything away...

Fran is the most wonderful character. I really felt like I gelled with her from the first page. Everything about her story is magical and I really, really urge you to read it! You won't regret it and you will have the Kylie song running through your head the whole time

With Kelk's typical wit and entertaining writing style this is a humourous and uplifting book that gives plenty of romance whilst being very kick-arse and relevant. I understood why Fran sticks around with her comfort zone even when things are pretty bad when it spoke about her Mum and what she would say to her, there was a real depth of character development with that, as well as with Juliette's character. This is a great book to get lost in for a day or so

Could you imagine your life changing after one night?

There's shades of Cinderella with Lindsey Kelk's witty 'On a Night Life This'.

Executive Assistant temp Fran Cooper is smart and sassy, but her light has been dimmed by her controlling fiance Stew. Something is missing in her life, but she's determined to ignore the signs, and continue the charade.

With Christmas coming soon, and work drying up, she agrees to take a confidential temp assignment for a celebrity and ends up taken on an Italian adventure as the PA for diva singer Juliette, who is performing at the Crystal Ball on the island of Panarea.

However nothing goes to plan, so Fran makes the most of it and crashes the highly exclusive ball.

After an earlier chance encounter with Evan, Fran reconnects with him. Charming and handsome Evan offers to be Fran's tour guide, promising her a night to remember where they dont discuss their personal lives including their full names.

The book juxtaposes the sparkle, glitz and glamour of the ball along with the reality of Fran's life. The experience leaves Fran with the push she needs to fix the areas in her life which aren't working for her.

Kelk also writes some fantastic scenes where Juliette tries to get Fran to take stock of her relastionship with Stew.

I also loved that the resolution with Fran and Evan had Fran not automatically running into her arms and all is HEA. She has come out of her experience with Stew knowing she needs to take time to keep working on herself.

This is my favourite of Lindsey Kelk's books and I've pre-ordered my own copy and will get the audiobook too. This book is definitely my top of 2021 (and I know we have a few months to go).

If you want a witty and heartwarming book with a lot of sparkle and magic without being cheesy, I highly recommend it. Given how dark the world has been with this pandemic, sparkle is welcome.

Thank you to NetGalley, the Publishers and the Author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

This book was a lovely, clean romance that would be the perfect Christmas read. I felt transported to all the locations visited in the novel, and thoroughly enjoyed learning about our main character as the book progressed.

I felt like this book was split in to two parts, both of which were wonderful. I preferred the second half, as that was when the romance began to blossom a bit more.

The story was sweet and funny with lots of loveable characters and a well-paced plot. It was definitely the ideal book for a bit of escapism!

I just don't know what is wrong with me, but just couldn't connect with this book. Just couldn't. It was a little boring for me. It just wasn't for me...
I adore Kelk's books but, this one wasn't for me.

Absolutely loved this book - full of humour - as many of Lindsey's books are and just the right amount of romance! I'd recommend this for anybody who wants a lovely way to kill a few hours. A grown-up fairy tale! A great read!

✨ REVIEW ✨ On A Night Like This by Lindsay Kelk.

Ever since this book was announced back on Boxing Day 2020 I knew I needed it!

Things I loved about this book.

✨ Fran. What a great lead character, she was relatable and funny and I just wanted her to be happy.

✨ New Friends and Old Friends. I love when Lindsays characters pop up in other books. Rachel is one of my favourites so it was great to see her again!

✨ The Crystal Ball. Pre-pandemic, I worked in travel and we would have a ball every summer to celebrate our year. We’d all travel to London and see our friends from all around the country. We’d get dressed up and it was always such a wild weekend that resulted in the worst hangovers known to man. The Crystal Ball took me right back to that time, although our balls weren’t quite as extravagant and they were full of pissed travel agents not billionaires! But still, it brought back great memories!

All in all this book was a wild ride and I loved every second!!
