Sparkling with festive joy and plenty of heart, Cressida McLaughlin’s Christmas Carols and a Cornish Cream Tea is the perfect book to snuggle up with on a cold winter afternoon.

Meredith Venn is not the biggest fan of Christmas and with the dreaded holiday season fast approaching, she is desperately seeking a way to avoid the festive rigmarole and emerge unscathed from the hustle and bustle of December on New Year’s day. Getting a job over Christmas working at a cosy gift shop in a picturesque Cornish village might not have been her best idea as Meredith is constantly assailed by carols, mince pies, seasonal hampers and holiday cheer that make it impossible for her to maintain her Bah Humbug manner! Meredith is counting down the days until the first day of January, but things begin to look up when she crosses paths with handsome new arrival Finn…

While Meredith would make Scrooge look like Santa Claus, Finn is Christmas’ number one fan. There is nothing he loves more than celebrating the most wonderful time of year and immersing himself in all the traditions of the holidays – unlike Meredith who only has to see a piece of tinsel and she breaks out in a cold sweat! Finn might be her polar opposite when it comes to all things Christmassy, but there is no denying the fact that she is attracted to him. With each passing day, Meredith begins to fall for Finn, but with the two of them being so different from one another, is a future together possible?

Is Meredith ready to embrace the magic of the festive season? Or will her reluctance to lower her guard and take a chance on her happiness end up costing her everything?

Cressida McLaughlin’s Christmas Carols and a Cornish Cream Tea is as delicious and delightful as it sounds! A wonderfully festive treat full of Christmas cheer that I couldn’t bear to put down, this sparkling, satisfying and spellbinding romantic read is an adorable Cornish romp that will have readers singing carols at the top of their voices and yearning for mince pies and gingerbread!

An enjoyable romantic read, Cressida McLaughlin’s Christmas Carols and a Cornish Cream Tea is sure to give readers all the feels.

A real Christmassy read, heartwarming and emotional . The reader feels they are in Cornwall with Meredith and Finn. Interesting characters and a good plot. I loved Crumble the dogs part in the story.
A thoroughly enjoyable read which I would recommend
Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Collins UK and Cressida McLaughlin for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review

This is a perfect, feel-good, cosy up with the fire and Christmas tree lit behind you kind of book. Perfect Christmas read, simple and easy!.

I absolutely adored this – it’s absolutely wonderful with plenty to keep you on your toes, emotional moments, funny moments and moments that will make you smile.

I’ve not read any of the series so far, and this made no difference as this can be read as a standalone. The characters will truly capture your heart – Meredith is wonderful, Finn is gorgeous and cheeky and Anisha is an absolutely gem.

The plot is captivating, warm and full of Christmas (despite the fact that Meredith is constantly trying to avoid it!). The setting is wonderful – we all know I love a book set in Cornwall and this is no exception. It will make you want to go there, even in the freezing winter! I loved watching the community come together and watching Meredith slowly thawing will warm your heart.

As expected from someone as wonderful as Cressy, this is a fantastic novel that you will totally fall in love with. If you want something that will feel cosy and christmassy, feel your heart with warmth and get you in the festive mood, this is for you. Highly recommended by me.

The story is about Meredith, who lives in Cornwall, and she swims in the sea there daily. She doesn't like Christmas very much, due to a family trauma from her past. However, the lovely Finn, who she meets at the beach, comes to her rescue and entices her into the Christmas spirit. Will they be able to get together, and will Meredith fully immerse herself into the magic of Christmas? The characters of the book are all so cute and lovely. I really loved this book so much, and it made me feel all warm and gooey inside. I loved the Christmas theme!

I have really enjoyed other books in the series and thought I would love this one but am afraid to say I didn't.
It has all the elements of a lovely cost festive read - pretty seaside town, community spirit, friendship, romance, cute dogs - but for some reason it fell a bit flat for me.
it was very slow to get started. Meredith seemed to drag out delivering a few Christmas hampers to local villagers for days.
And Finn was just a bit too 'mysterious' to point of lying really which I did not find appealing.
Also, surely it doesn't matter how good-looking someone is, no woman in this day and age is going to just jump in car with a complete stranger and drive around isolated country lanes.
There were some really magical parts to the story and it is full of festive atmosphere and Cornish quirkiness, but I didn't warm to the main characters as much as previous books in the serious.
Thank you @Netgalley for my

Another delightful read from one of my favourite authors. I was expecting the cream tea bus to put in more of an appearance, but it wasn't needed. It was a heartwarming, emotional read, which I struggled to put down. The story of Merry, trying to get through another Christmas without her dad, and Finn trying to break away from a life he hates in London without disappointing his family. A really lovely read, with a smattering of other lovely characters including Crumble the dog. I loved it from start to end.

Comfortable Christmas read, I found this an interesting read about life in Cornwall in winter, although at times I found the development of the story a bit of a plod! Thank you to the publisher for an ARC

I have yet to read a book by Cressida McLaughlin that I have not enjoyed and Christmas Carols and a Cornish Cream Tea was no exception. I loved it, read in one sitting I struggled to put it down. I felt it was just as good as the other books in the Cornish Cream Tea series and I can’t wait to read the next one.

I enjoyed this book. However bad language spoiled it for me. why do some authors feel the need to use the F word. I wanted to give three stars, but somehow it will not let me go above 2

After losing a loved one at Christmas time when she was younger, Meredith has become a bit of a Grinch during the festive season, which can be problematic in her work with gift hampers. She is very passionate however about her cat Smudge, dog Crumble and her early morning ocean swims. When she comes across the very handsome Finn, she starts to reveal her secrets and allows him to become part of her life, even though he is hiding parts of himself. As she starts to overcome her dislike of Christmas, will Finn stick around or will he leave and resume his family responsibilities and leave her heartbroken? A good read.

This book was wonderful and a delicious read for the Christmas season. The change in Meredith from the start to the end of the book was one that you didn't entirely see coming and you didn't want to stop reading.

From when we meet Meredith swimming in her secret cove, to the shop where she makes and then delivers her hampers, and to the people around her, there is so much to the character. I loved meeting the choir, Nish and her family, and the wonderful Finn.

The way that the story between Finn and Meredith, and the background that we discover, is totally unexpected and you just want to hug and encourage them.

Not forgetting the extra supporting cast of Meredith's dog and cat, I mean, Crumble is the best name!

This is definitely a must-read and I can't wait for the next instalment of the series.
