The book "Organizational Behavior Essentials You Always Wanted To Know" by Vibrant Publishers may not fully meet the expectations its title suggests. While it aims to provide a broad introduction to the subject, it tends to oversimplify the complexities of organizational behavior.

Although the book's goal of covering a wide range of topics is admirable, its execution may leave readers disappointed. The concepts presented are often too simplistic, resulting in a superficial understanding of the subject matter. For instance, the book briefly touches on intricate topics such as group dynamics and organizational culture, without providing the depth required to truly comprehend these subjects.

Furthermore, the book lacks practical examples and case studies that would make the topic more relatable and engaging. This absence of real-world application makes it harder for readers to absorb the theoretical information and leaves them wanting more concrete and applicable knowledge.

While the book does provide a structured approach and uses easy-to-understand language, it may only be beneficial for absolute beginners. For those seeking a comprehensive and practical understanding of organizational behavior, this book may fall short.

Overall, the book may serve as a quick overview for beginners, but for readers seeking depth, practical insights, or a comprehensive understanding of the subject, it may be worthwhile to explore other resources.

I loved this book from Vibrant Publishing. They offer so many books to help you grow within your current role and offer excellent advice with easy-to-understand examples.

Not only does this book have a ton of helpful information, but there are chapter quizzes to test your knowledge as well as chapter summaries that neatly wrap the chapter up.

This book ostensibly does what it says on the tin. It summarises a wide range of topics across the ill-defined (in general) sphere of organisational behaviour. If you're looking for a summary of pertinent areas if you've never thought about business before, it might be a reasonable introduction, but I must admit beyond the index I was sorely disappointed. The content is surface level and filled with generalisations. Its explorations of topics like diversity and inclusion are lacking in any depth, and to be honest if you relied on any of its explanations you would be missing most of current thinking. There are a lot of examples used that seem lazy - talking about old examples of diversity in marketing plays as relevant to 2021 discourse - and the language that's used - leaders / organisations "must" do everything... is rather annoying and hard to read. I've never encountered anything like this to be honest. It's like trying to put as many generalities into a reader's head as quickly as possible, no thinking required.
I feel a bit bad about this review but I can't really find anything I didn't get annoyed about as a strategic HR professional. Some of the diagrams might be useful frameworks for students or those early in their management career to use. But please read more widely than this book.
Book received as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers.

This book presents a concise exploration of organizational behavior topics. It is concise that it was able to cover many topics such as training, human resources, etc. However, it lacks the depth some may expect in an organizational behavior textbook. It may also need more references to some published reseach unless it is intended to be written this way.

This was a great entry level book for Organizational Behavior and reminds me of a book I would read in college on the topic. If you want to learn basic information about the topic it’s perfect!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy to honestly review!

Vibrant Publishers compiled a 101 book Organizational Behavior Essentials You Always Wanted To Know. Topics like office politics, feedback, learning and development, dealing with stress and conflicts, hiring and dismissing staff are addressed. This instance in the self-learning management series aims to promote an open, diverse culture in which people can strive and become high-performance teams.

By reading alone you won't become a manager, let alone good manager. Consider the entry-level book as a means to an end. Practice what you learned and learn from practice!

I have a background in HR, and a master's in Psychology. I also run my own consultancy business. So I have read a few management, leadership, and organisational development books in my time. Additionally I have experience as a manager, leader, and advising those who are managers and/or leaders.

This book offers a good surface level summary of organisational behaviour. It provides an overview of much, and is great is you have little or no knowledge. For example I can see it being of interest to 18 or 19 year olds with little work experience preparing for starting a university course in Business (or similar).

For any other audiences, the summary is over simplistic, provides no depth, and does not adequately provide context for the statements it makes. Whilst it defers to some real life examples, on the whole provides no detailed case studies, so lacks relevant background information, and how such examples relate to the theories it is discussing. I would also argue that it products American focused relevance, and although tries to frame it's narrative within the international context, the lack of detailed analysis means the information it provides is not useful the world over.

3 stars because it is a good summary, however if you do pick up, please do read around in areas you find interesting to ensure a through understanding.

I work for the government which is a massive organization. My previous work experience was in the private sector so going public was a big change for me. I’m young in my career and I work with people twice my age so I am always looking for ways to delicately shake up the work place without ruining our mission. This was a great read with solid information. I’m not going to be able to change the whole government but I’ll try to implement some of the things I’ve learned and also try to keep things I learned about as well.
