The story of a mother Whitney and what happens after her teenage daughter Amelia goes missing. When settling down to read this family thriller I wondered it might be a bit too soft and 'Mumsie' for my tastes.

The characters are detailed and well-rounded, there is a nice introspective quality especially around Whitney, full of doubt and anxiety and a determination to try and care for her daughter. There's a good amount of history, and a real depth to the characters and their lives and relationships.

The plot builds up gently and before you know it you're completely involved.

It isn't the fastest, or the darkest, it doesn't have the biggest twists, but it really doesn't need to, just a good story with great characters, really well told.

I've read plenty of 'every parent's worse nightmare' missing child novels but this is really one of the best. Highly recommended.

A great premise and a good solid read. However the author’s overuse of the name ‘Whitney’ irritated me from the start. It really detracts from what a great story this is.

Whitney drops her daughter off at her friend Lauren’s house for a sleepover and returns home delighted at the opportunity to have a little downtime. The next day however and Amelia still hasn’t called so Whitney decides to pop over and collect her. But Amelia is not at Laurens house because it is not Lauren’s house.
Whitney knows she must find her daughter but barely knows where to begin. Who is keeping secrets? Whitney? Amelia? Lauren? The older couple who’s house Amelia was dropped at?

A really enjoyable thriller with twists and turns to keep you guessing. Read it!
