Not really my cup of tea; I felt slightly lost when reading this collection, though whilst I didn't enjoy the overall reading experience of this book, there were some stand-out poems.

I am glad to have read this unusual collection, but unfortunately I didn’t enjoy it. I found most of the poems excessively wordy and the themes didn’t speak to me, but I did appreciate the introductory chapters that explain how Malika’s Poetry Kitchen came about and developed as a project.

Although some may find this a text that is tough to access, for my studemts - this is the perfect anthology for them to see themselves on a page. Loved it!!

I found to young , too loud. Too different hard to get into and it was not my kind of poetry but I feel someone who likes this type poetry would really enjoy this book it just was not fo me.

The title couldn't be more perfect. I was very surprised by this book. It was such an inspiring read that I couldn't even write my review immediately after finishing it. I had to wait and think about it for days until I could go back and share my thoughts. I apologize that I wasn't able to review before the pub date, but I'll definitely be talking about this book for a long time. Thanks for the DRC.

Not every poem spoke to me or was relatable but so many were poignant. This however is the point of Malika's Poetry Kitchen, to provide and a space and outlet for a range of poets to evolve and share and for readers to relate to. That is exactly what you take away from this.

I enjoyed the history and the story of Malika's Poetry Kitchen, especially as it was not something I have heard of before. The idea of a place for all voices to be heard and how important it was/is.

The poems vary in style and it was particularly interesting to learn about Ike Poem Form which I had never heard of.

The eighteen steps to starting your own poetry collective provided are encouraging to future poets and readers to break out and give them the tools to start their own collective. It is really informative and well laid out.

I am glad that I have read this, reintroducing myself to poetry. Some of my favourites were - Tulips, This is a Prayer, Rebirth, My Headstone Read 'Beloved Daughter', Kaleidoscope and No.

A really well done introduction like this deserves all the praise in the world! I had never heard of the poetry collective Malika's Poetry Kitchen and their work, but an introduction like this makes me want to watch a movie on them! Seriously though, would make a great film or TV show! I also added a lot of books to my list because of the introduction, and I'm probably going to buy this for a friend for the introduction alone.

I didn't love every single poem here, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to give it any less than 5 stars. There were different styles and subjects, and it was well-curated. I love good anthologies! I do have a favorite in here though, Vogue by Nii Ayikwei Parkes.

Too Young, Too Loud, Too Different is a collection of poems by poets from poetry collective Malika's Poetry Kitchen, with a wide range of poetry within its pages. The collection starts with a history of the collective, which is interesting and felt like a reminder of what people can do together, and then the poems themselves cover a range of topics and styles.

Having such a selection of poets and fairly short poems makes this an ideal collection to dip into, or you can immerse yourself into the whole collection at once as the book itself is also quite short. I enjoyed the fact I'd heard of some of the poets and not heard of others, and I particularly liked some of the poems that were using more experimental and fresh approaches to form and structure within a small space. As with any collection of different poets, everyone will like particular poems more; some of my favourites were 'For the Young Men Popping Wheelies on Southwark Street in Late Afternoon Traffic', 'London Fields', and 'Truncated checklist for a Gothic novel'.

I've not heard of Malika's Poetry Kitchen before seeing/reading this book - but it definitely intrigued me.
I didn't enjoy the opening chapters of this book explaining the origins of the Poetry Kitchen at all - I felt slightly lost when reading. However, I did somewhat enjoy the poems themselves. I love a poetry book, and I love to take my time analysing each phrase - maybe that's the teacher in me. However, I found the poems to be really hit and miss to my taste. Some poems I found phenomenal, while others i hated, and a few just made me feel indifferent.
I don't think the style/themes of some of the poems connected with me on a deep level - something that is important with poetry I think.
I didn't enjoy the overall reading experience of this book - but there were some stand-out poems! Just not enough for me to rate this book any higher.
