Her solution leave and start her own team she does, now her other problem is to keep the attraction to her investor Cal MacBane who has a problem with his father as well. His solution is to put money into Harper’s team, he still wants to put himself into her bed yet she has kept him at bay. Read this good book and see what happens. Review Boss Lady
Driven Women Series, Book 2 #DrivenWomen
by Laralyn Doran
Reasonably easy read though slow going in part.

A battle of the the sex’s story between a strong male and female characters but who will win if any. Follow Cal and Harper’s journey to find out. Full of twists deception humour and plenty of strong characters too repetitive in parts though.

this book was so repetitive. the first two thirds are just the two of them saying "i cant", "we cant". and then they are together, broken up, and resolved in 2 sentences. neither character was that likeable. the first book in the series had characters you could root for. the heroine in this was a shrew and the hero constantly inserted himself where he didnt belong. i never warmed to the story and the extraneous drama wasn't necessary.

Very good novelist. Exciting, engrossing, page turner. Keeps you involved even if you know it's fiction. This is an endearing romance novel with just the right balance of humour, charm and entertaining characters. Loved Harper’s character especially.

This story is a bit different but I liked it.
I liked both Harper and Cal who each had quite a bit on their individual plates. There was a time or two though when I wanted to shake Harper for the mixed signals that she was sending Cal. But hey, she was also trying to figure things out herself. She wanted to do things herself without leaning on a man to "rescue" her. She saw so much of the help extended to her as a man trying to control her. Which is something that she has had some experience with. What she doesn't know is how controlling Cal's father has been. Yikes! His father has VERY clear ideas of what Cal needs to be doing with his life. From running his father's business to even his personal life.
There is also a couple of other colorful, strong women in the story. Both C.J. (her driver & best friend) and her aunt made me grin more than once.
Yes, there is someone who HATES strong women in the racing field. And he has a special hate-on for Harper and her team. But he's not the only one who caused problems.
I have to give a nod to how beautiful the eBook cover is. It actually caused me to slow down and read the book blurb when I saw it.
A good ending shows up after several surprising twists.

I am typically not a stock-car racing fan, however, new to me author Laralyn Doran left me clamoring for additional insight into this fast-paced sport. Her latest book, Boss Lady, is a lively sports romance with well-developed characters. This is the second book from her Driven Women series and it can be enjoyed as a standalone, however, book one has been added to my TBR list.

Harper Merrick has been involved in stock-car racing from the moment she was born. Her dad owns a successful team and is very well respected in the sport. She decides to take all her knowledge and start her own team, focusing on women in the industry. Along the way, she meets Cal McBane, the brother of her best friend's fiance. CJ is not only Harper's best friend, she drives for Harper's new team. CJ's fiance is a driver for Harper's dad's team. Cal ends up investing in Harper's team and overtime they become more than business partners.

Harper and Cal's budding relationship is fraught with interference from Harper's ex, Cal's dad, and the media. Luckily, they are able to forge a future together once the dust settles and everyone who is a thorn in their side learns their place.

I enjoyed this sports romance and the initiation into the world of stock-car racing. Harper and Cal were easy to get to know and the secondary characters were very interesting. The highs and lows of the racing industry was entertaining, as well as eye-opening. Overall, I am looking forward to more from this author.
