This was the first book I read by this author. I chose this as it is set at Lake Tahoe where I’ve been a couple of years ago. I loved it there and was looking forward to read a romance set in these beautiful surroundings and this is where the book really delivered for me. In the end, the book was an OK read, I enjoyed the scenery, but in the romance, nothing really stood out, nothing really bad, but also nothing really surprising.

This is a butch-femme romance told in third person with POVs of both protagonists. Shawn owns a breakfast/lunch diner and used to be a bit of a player, regularly having flings with passing tourists. But she has decided to quit fooling around with tourists and she really wants to settle down with that perfect partner. Morgan lives in Sacramento and has just been cheated on by her ex and wants absolutely nothing to do with a player. When Morgan visits Lake Tahoe and they are immediately attracted to each other you can see where this is going, but the past has a way of sneaking up on them.

The story follows a pretty standard lesfic trope and formula, which is all fine, but unfortunately it also featured one of my lesfic romance peeves, which is bad communication leading up to an 80% conflict. I did enjoy the characters, they were likeable and their chemistry worked well, ow and there is a really cute dog, I just hoped for a different turn in the story line. Furthermore, the writing was often repetitive and I found myself distracted several times, making this a longer read than usual.

All in all, I can’t really recommend this book as there was not much that captivated or surprised me. It just wasn’t the right book for me, but I think there will be people who might like this better than I did, being the easy, light, romance it is.

the story was ok at the beginning. around 25% of I started to feel that it make 0 sense to me its moving rather fast for my liking. moreover, Shawn was as an opportunist. she left that women only when she found another interest and that made me hate her a bit. However the description was amazing and I really think I want to visit the mountain the lake. so very well written

This was a sexy, romantic story with the usual misunderstanding arising. Quite a nice storyline and a readable book if you want to pass the time without having to think too much. Nice supporting characters.

A lovely setting with Lake Tahoe, I always have a softspot for books that are in an outdoors area and now I want to go to Lake Tahoe!

Shawn, the owner of a diner in a smalltown is ready to leave her tourist bedding years behind and is looking for a more stable relationship. She connects with Morgan, her temporary neighbour who fled to a cabin at Lake Tahoe after finding her girlfriend in bed with another woman to get her mind back in order again.
I really liked the initial development of the relationship, there was an immediate attraction but both women are reluctant to take it further due to their circumstances and they hang out as friends first. Their connection and chemistry was great and I could see why these two would end up together as more than friends and they made a cute couple.

The part that didn't fit in my opinion was the obligated break up and the events leading up to that. Way over the top reaction to a misunderstanding which could have been avoided by communicating. And I understand that there should be some struggle at some point to get us feeling angst about the ending, but in this instant I was just annoyed by what happened and how long it took to resolve.

But this is still a very enjoyable book with a writer who knows how to describe the setting, lovely secundary characters and a great dog!

This is my first book by KC Richardson and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The setting of Lake Tahoe being an outdoor lover's paradise was perfect. I could just imagine driving around the lake, visiting Sand Harbor on the eastern shore, and viewing the Truckee River from the diner.

Shawn has spent most of her adult life running a diner and having brief affairs with tourists who visit the area. Now she is ready to settle down with that special person. However, that may more difficult than she realizes with her limited options of lesbian residents in the area.

Morgan returns to Lake Tahoe from Sacramento after she discovers her girlfriend of three years cheating on her in her own house and her own bed. Morgan needs some time in nature to clear her head and plan her future after she dumps her girlfriend. She is reintroduced to Shawn who lives just down the road from the cabin that she is renting. Shawn introduces her to the area and some of the outdoor activities that Tahoe has to offer. Slowly they begin to fall for each other.

This book provided sexy character chemistry between Shawn and Morgan, a dog this reader couldn't resist, two crazy ex's, and Shawn's deceased grandfather's friends who did their best to look after Shawn's heart. 4.5 stars.

This book is told in third person and from both heroines perspective - something I always appreciate.

The highlight of this story for me was the setting. Lake Tahoe. It wasn't long before I was hitting Google to check out the lake. The descriptions were vivid and put me right in the middle of the scenery.

Where this book fell down for me was the troupe used to drive the angst. Ex lovers. It's been done many, many times, sometimes well, other times not so well. In this book, we're treated to two dreaded ex's so if that's your jam, you are in for a treat. However, when the inevitable breakup lasted for weeks on end, this reader wanted to tap out.

Due to their inability to communicate, and the conclusions each lead jumped to, I had a hard time buying into their HEA.

I wouldn't say this wasn't a bad story, it just wasn't the right fit for me.

This is my first novel from this author and I enjoyed it. It was slow in points but it picked up momentum when it needed it. The characters were pretty well developed, especially Shawn. We got a lot of background on her and you are really able to connect with her through her shared stories/history of Tahoe and her late grandparents. I loved the contrast between Shawn and Morgan. They meshed well together despite being very opposite at first. Of course there was the typical angst, but there was a lesson to be learned from it and we got our happily ever after. I will read more from KC Richardson.

Lake Tahoe is a wonderful setting for this wonderful, sexy romance. KC Richardson brings the beauty of Tahoe and surrounding mountains to life making the location part of the story. Shawn owns and runs a busy local breakfast/lunch diner on the western side of Tahoe (not the gambling NV side). She inherited the cafe and her home from her beloved grandparents and easily gave up her PR job to enjoy the mountains. Morgan lives two hours away in Sacramento. After catching her ex cheating she escapes to Tahoe to evaluate her life. She has a busy medical marketing job she loves but this last break up is especially hard hitting. She rents a cabin just up the road from Shawn.

Shawn meets Morgan while helping her light the pilot light on her heater which beings the friendship. Morgan isn't really looking for someone so soon and Shawn is looking for someone local that has longterm possibilities. But Shawn is willing to show Morgan some of the beauty of the area. I love the book spends time on friendship outings so you can see the attraction and possibility of a relationship begin.

There is sizzling chemistry between the two and good communication which I love. I really enjoy this book and its pacing. Thank you NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books, Inc. for an ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Shawn runs her a diner that’s been in her family for years and she enjoys it. Although she loves living in Lake Tahoe not only because of the diner but also because she loved going visiting her grandparents when she was young. Now she a bit restless she didn’t mind having casual flings with tourists but lately she been feeling that she ready for serious relationship she doesn’t think anyone would want to settle with her in Lake Tahoe.

Morgan who just walk-in on her girlfriend Jess with another woman in her bed threw her for poop she know their relationship was a bit strain but she never thought Jess would do that to her. While she decides to go back to Lake Tahoe to figure out how to heel her heart and move forward.

Shawn and Morgan meet and feel sparks between them as they get to know each other Shawn fears Morgan won’t stay and Morgan wonders if she should try again but fears her heart will be broken again.

I enjoy this read.
